  • I forgot to mention, the r134 low pressure switch will not thread on to the r12 accumulator/dryer. That is why I opted to use the 95 model design. Drop any questions you have, I'll try my best to help you out.

So I can use my stock 92 r12 compressor for the 134a conversion? If I can obviously I would have to put 134a oil in the compressor.

My A/C compressor in my 1992 F150 went belly up so have to get a new compressor and they come already prefilled.

Hopefully someone can help me out. The OP said he is running '95 accumulator with the '92 evaporator. Does that '95 accumulator bolt up to the '92 evaporator using the original '92 strap? Can I get clarification on that detail please? Can I stick with the '92 accumulator and the system work properly? Also.. What I have purchased but not installed yet are the following: '92 accumulator, evaporator, compressor, compressor liquid line set, red orifice tube. I have the '95 condenser. Please tell me if the '95 accumulator is really needed. Will the following specs work for that custom hose using the '92 evaporator?

    Thanks in advance!

I've got a 94 5.0 truck that had 134a with an 4.9 engine in it from a 93 in it that had r12. Your video is helping me make a plan to get the AC going. I'm hoping to run everything from the 94 truck. Except the 93 4.9 engine had the compressor mounted below the power steering pump so I'll have to run the 93 lines from the compressor as the 94 are too short. Sounds like that wasn't a problem for you. Did you have any wiring issues? The 93 engine harness only has one connector going to the front of the A/C compressors I'm assuming that works the clutch while the 94 has a connector on the front like the 93 but also has one on the line right at the back of the compressor. Not sure what to do about that or what that connector is doing? Some kind of pressure switch or something?

Ok, just found more information. That is the high pressures switch that I don't have wiring for. I guess r12 didn't have a high pressure switch. Being as you used r12 style lines you must not be running a high pressure switch and it seems to be working?

Thanks for the vid. Explains why I'm having trouble. I'm trying to order the liquid line. Can you give me the hose fittings you selected?

It was a 6-8 springlock on the evaporator side and a #6 male on the condenser side. #6 hose. Also make sure your fan clutch is good. That can cause issues with idle rpm cooling.

Will this work on an 82 Ford ranger f150

It's the same idea. They use the same orfice tube so you should be able to buy a newer 134a compatible compressor and a 95 and up condenser and have custom lines made like i did. Another option would be to reseal everything with new stock 82 parts and buy some r12 on ebay.

I had I got a 1993 Ford Bronco and it has always had R12 in it and the compressor find a locked up and so I went and I bought a new compressor with a dryer and it came with a orifice tube and I got it from our R & Y and I put it on and mayonnaise got good cold air even sitting there idling change it back over to 134 a I got a 85 Ford Ranger and I change it to a 134 a and it cold air and going down the road but who's that 37 degrees and that is cold good luck have a blessed day and you don't have to do all that I didn't have to thanks to R & Y Air Conditioning in Miami Florida they have got really good deals on compressors and everything you need for air conditioning
