    I went ice skating for the first time a few weeks ago and I did not realize how hard it is lmao, but thanks to my amazing friend who knows how to skate decently I slowly learned. She started by just showing me how to move my feet and then holding my hand she helped me skate around the rink near the barrier, then eventually across while holding my hands. In the end, I was able to skate a little by having my hand hovering over hers. I am so lucky to have a wonderfully patient best friend!

    Beautiful explanation! Im ice skating tonight with my friends and now I know how to do it correctly! Last time I kept falling because my feet were too far apart and I didnt bring my feet back together when starting a new push. Thanks so much you helped me a ton!

    Thanks for the tip. I am the beginner. And I did what you say. I put my weight on both feet when I pushed them. And I haved failed doing ice skate for 2 hours. Hahaha, thanks lot, I love you 👍

    1. arms out,toes slightly pointed out
    2. transfer weight to front foot, bring feet back together, bend knees, then push off
    3. shoulders level, feet under you, bend knees straight over toes.
    4. be on flate middle edge of blade when moving forward
    5.

    This looks very similar to inline skating. Would I be able to transfer some things from inline skating to ice skating??

    I always dream to figure skate , but I'm scared in the ice ... I'm sad ... but I want to do figure skating

      Don't be afraid. Follow where your dream leads you, don't hesitate. It's normal to fall. It's normal to get hurt. Keep on going, you only live once. Follow your dreams.

    You said to stay on the flat edge - as in both edges? Do most figure skaters move forward on both edges or the outside edge?

    How do I stop myself from using my toe pick?

    I’m just nervous that when I push my other foot will flop to the side and send me tumbling down.anyway to get better confidence?

    This looks very advance skating. Do u have a basic steps video?? How long will it take from stepping on ice to move forward on ice. ? I'm still trying to balance after 3rd try. Will i ever move like u in this video?? How to get that confidence to away from the wall and skate like you do here. ? Will i ever progress to get better?

      Have you watched our "Top 5 Tips for Beginners" video? This should help give you some advice you need! We have a few more basic videos on our Patreon page too which will make there way over to TH-cam at some point.
      Everybody learns at their own pace, so don't be discouraged if it takes you more than 3 tries! You will get there with practice! As with anything, it takes time. To build up the confidence and skill needed to skate around the rink freely!

    Why professional figure skaters as Yuzuru Hanyu skate forward by only using their toe picks?

    • @paulalwin91
      @paulalwin91 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well we need to ask Mr Hanyu.

    • @almond1865
      @almond1865 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      maybe because they are professional??

    • @avabyrne6643
      @avabyrne6643 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think this is because figure skaters use figure skating skates that use toe picks to go forward rather than the side of your blade like hockey skates. I'm guessing it's also easier/more efficient to use toe picks when figure skating because they have to do many complicated moves.

      Yes of course not in a professional way but it Is great to self learn until you actually feel comfortable on ice :)

    • @continents-passerby901
      @continents-passerby901 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is not the very start. One will have to be able to do 1 foot glide on both legs before doing this.
