It's not too hard to make someone appear younger with makeup and paring them to older people. But most of the time the child has grown up a lot between filming and interviews. Especially in movies with lots of CGI because the time spent in post-production is so extensive. Ender's Game was filmed over a year before this interview and for a young teen like Asa that leaves a lot of time for growth.
