I had an 04 and man I loved that car, it was spacious and comfy, it was an lx model which was all leather and the pedals had button to move em closer or further away I thought was cool af. I remember I bought that beauty for 6 grand in 2008 with like 55,000 miles on it, it was absolutely mint, did nothing besides change the oil n put roughly 50k on it. Can you believe the headlight module chip was bad in those cars, for the year I had anyway. Scumbag Ford after so many complaints from so many people and after they know the majority have already been fixed and they have that data, finally put out recall to have it fixed like 3 months after I sold it, I was so mad. I used to have to drive around with my high beams, except they wouldn't work in the normal setting they'd only work when you pushed the stalk forward ( or whatever direction to just flash), so id drive around at night and had to hold that stupid thing in place if I drove anywhere blinding everyone as I went. that stupid plug and play box which was really easy to replace was anywhere between 500 and 800 dollars. When they first starting breaking, it'd intermittently work, and shut off for a few seconds than turn back on, then you could buy a little more time by hitting the box where that module was located and it'd work. then it'd eventually just not work and you might get lucky rarely n get it turn on. The craziest thing is that it was your headlights literally, that would just turn off as your driving which is the craziest thing if you think about it. They knew about this flaw and continued building cars with this flaw because they had a parts bin filled with these things paid for because they didn't change much on these vehicles over the years which is why they were so dependable, point is, I hate ford to this day for that one mistake they made not fixing my car sooner.

@@todtalk3912 I had that problem also. The capacitors were bad in the LCM, I sent it to a guy that rebuilds them and he charged me about $100.00 to rebuild it. I bought this car 7 years ago with low mileage for 2K, It has 200 000 miles on it now. The clear coat is peeling on it but the car is still solid (very little rust). I was going to get something newer but this car has been so good I thought I would keep it and fix it up. I put some new headlights and parking lights and a new exhaust system front to back, new shocks/swaybar links and bushings , new tires, new battery and alternator, new 02 sensors, MAF sensor, changed out the diff fluid and tranny fluid. I gave it a good tune up and it runs and drives like new now. I think the car will last another 5 years now easy.

But the strange thing is not all of them did it. So I guess what I would do id check all fastening points as simply not being tight enough would cause it, I’d check my seals as they can indicate a lot about a problem. And if it’s that bad I would just check all suspension components on all 4 corners, im certain a visual inspection would point you in the direction of the culprit.
