my Megaslam hoop 72" in ground. why I went this route instead of the Dominator hoop

- Its been a dream of mine to have a legit basketball set up in home home since I was was kid. Now I was finally able to make it happen. After research and many, many months of deliberating which hoop to go with from the mega slam to the dominator. I choose the Megaslam 72.
Both options seem to be fantastic, both have pros and cons. Based on my wants and research, the mega was the option I choose. It wasn't an easy choice. I literally took about 2-3 months just to pick which one. As they are both high end good quality hoops. They are also both very similar in price.

FINALLY I FOUND A GOOD VIDEO ON WHICH BASKETBALL HOOP TO GET. I was also debating whether to get the dominator vs the megaslam. The only game changer on the dominator I found on the internet is the crank/adjuster mabobber. But thanks man for this video 🎉

Did you end up choosing one? The one super upside to the dominator is how fast it raises and lowers. This one while not difficult, it's a pain. Lol. I like to keep it at 10ft and my youngest likes it at 5.5ft but he can't do it so hear I am cranking! Lol
I came down to the same 2 choices between the Megaslam XL and the Dominator. I chose the Dominator because of the aluminum design, # of turns to adjust the height, it only had 5 main parts to assemble, and their customer service. Its been over 2 years and have not regretted my decision. I think these are the best 2 you can get if you're fortunate enough to have the space and budget.
I am in the same boat right now. Would you mind posting a video of some use of the Dominator. I really would like to see how much it wobbles with shots being made. There's very little info and video about it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
@markc1031 mine doesn't at all but then again my contractor duga 5 foot hole along with additional rebar which is excessive. The J-anchors and bolts Dominator provides with the unit are commercial/contractor grade. I'd be happy to share a vid but you won't see it on video because it doesn't shake at all. I installed an overhead light that attaches to the main post and that's the only thing that shakes since its an aftermarket unit but even that's barely noticeable.
@@rdaffon23 that is awesome! I would absolutely love to see a vid. Baseball throws at the backboard with a basketball would be great. I’m really surprised there are zero videos from Dominator of actual use. Thank you!

@@TheDeplorable I haven't had a chance to - I have added an aftermarket light from another brand that does add to the a little shake to the pole but not much.
I’m trying to decide between mega slam 72 and dominator as well. I like the dominator design but looks like it doesn’t warranty the glass like mega slam. The dominator warranty also mentions that hanging on the rim voids the warranty? Dominator also isn’t clear view , it has that h frame. Also the mega slam rim looks much nicer.
Great video! Btw, you mentioned the 72 not looking as beastly as you imagined and said perhaps you should have gone with the XL. Isn’t the XL the same size backboard? Or, is it other components in the XL that might make it look beefier?

I 1000% agree. And that's the only knock I have on the mega, is when the kids wanna lower it, it is more of a hassle. With that said, it's not "difficult", it lowers/raises quite easily. The sturdiness and firmness of the system was my #1 priority and at the time of purchase I could not find any videos demonstrating how solid the dominator was.
