Yes I definitely make effort to learn about my heritage (HK), although I have spent most of my life living in a western society I still believe that learning about their culture food and language is most important, you also naturally form a passionate appreciation for their culture as well. Absolutely! Before I moved to Shanghai, I studied Mandarin. And when I got there, I paid a lot to take classes and immerse myself more in the language and culture. Now, I’m level 3 of Mandarin and always studying and practicing it.

i would love to live in Taiwan for a couple months w/ the purpose of getting to know Taiwan and all its regions and mountain ranges, not just visit family.

Fellow Taiwanese American here! There is a Mandarin language institute at one of the universities open to all adults who want to spend a month or 2 learning about Taiwan and the Mandarin Chinese language. You may want to check it out. Looks like the "love boat" program has ended.

We had our vacation in Seoul in Summer of 2018 and fell in love with the place. We’re supposed to visit again in Summer of 2019, but due to Covid 19 we had to cancel out flight. Wish we could visit again.

Asian Americans have always had a strong bond and connection to their heritage. They are not all very connected to parents country of origin but always connected in their area. My oldest Chinese friend Al who is very American is also very Chinese. Comes with the territory.

I used to think that it was pointless when my parents tried to teach me about the chinese culture and language because i did not think it would ever need it. i wanted to be like everyone else. Now that i am older, i am so proud to be chinese and to understand my roots.
