  • A while ago i purchased a egg incubator and it really didn't work very well. i knew i could make something much much better for a very small cost (about £50) The capacity is about 25-30 eggs and i could add another tray driven off the same motor.

    Brilliant, be nice to see how you get on with incubating eggs. If it’s a good success rate you could make and sell these. Controlling the humidity and having a consistent heat is hard.
    Be good if you could top up the water without opening it, to help temperature and humidity fluctuations.
    Wood work is top notch.

    Outstanding craftmanship. The only thing I would have done differently would be to install the control box on the right side. For convenience sake. I'm right handed. Besides the door handle is on the right. Having the handle and the control box close together would make things easier. I need to make one too. Great viewing. I enjoyed watching you. Thank you for doing the video.

    Great work Chris. Just one thing (from my arm chair....)
    I would have put the light switch (you have on the side) on the front of that side box (just below the two indicators).
    To save it getting knocked off, or bent, when the device was stored, whilst not in use.

    • @KrisHarbour
      @KrisHarbour  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, It was just to tight to get it in, there is alot more switch on the back than there is on the front. The bit that sticks out is only small but the switch itself is quite chunky and was a pain to get in there. Also the side panel wood is only 10mm so the switch can get through the wood and screw on. The front face wood is 20mm thick and the switch would not fit in there without modification. I think a good solution would be a flat push switch on the side. But i already had the toggle switch so i just used it.

    This was such an exciting one. I LOVE hatching birds and just hatched out my latest quail. Tho I'm simply using an old styrofoam incubator I've had for years. however I've made my own. In fact as a child (I was home schooled with a tutor) I did a 'report experiment' when I was about 10 by taking a 10 gal aquarium, some tin foil, 100 w bulb and hand turning to make my first incubator. It was really an excuse to get my parents to allow me to have chickens! And since then, I've always managed to keep and hatch birds, currently quite a few chickens and now my quail. Hoping this Spring 21 to do some pheasant and ONE day peacocks (those simply as a vanity project, as I rather like the idea of a pair of peafowl strutting about my land though not sure if they could outwit the coyote and fox. I have to keep my birds in large runs as we have SO many predators, but I've heard that peacocks, when full grown, are pretty good, as they can fly and roost up in trees.
    This is such a beautiful piece of furniture as well as an amazing bit of kit that gives you more wonderful birds! Love it.
