when comparing the 2 versions, honestly its like the ps2 version is a completely different game altogether. in the arcade, tornado only consists of lizardtail and his right hander bigfoot. to which the story is simply centered around stopping them from being dicks by racing them to destinations to prove youre better. but the console version provides a much more colorful cast of rivals and an actual story thats quite darker. where theyre not just dicks for the fun of it, but mostly because its promoted and encouraged by the company itself. as tornado's goal as a whole is to dominate the entire shipping lane of route 66 and taking out every single rival trucking company that stands between them and profit. but personally, i do like the console story much better, as it gives the player a much larger sense of accomplishment for dismantling an otherwise oppressive company rather than here where its just defeating the same 2 rivals repeatedly. but the only thing i absolutely dont like is it really feels like the console version wasnt play tested enough to balance ai difficulty. the difficulty seems almost unreal because rivals tend to only rubberband when behind you and will barely slow down once theyre ahead. atleast here and even from pro american trucker, the rival will slow down to traffic speed when they get too far ahead of you in order to give some time to catch up and still win. but on console for this game, once they shoot ahead you may as well just reset at that point and its kinda ridiculous.
I was 5yrs, My 1st time playing 18 wheeler at Fun depot or chuckie cheese lol. Then I was maybe 8 or 10 when I played Route 66 on PS2! (I LOVE BOTH GAMES)
They actually used to have the arcade version in my local Walmart for a while, then one day while I was going camping with my grandparents I found the PS2 version _I kid you not_ in a truck stop. P.S. The Voice acting is better in the PS2 verison.
Just to confirm what Riven said before during the attract section at the start and in the video description (please read before watching). Due to an issue with deceleration and braking that triggers the end of a stage early. Riven had to play the game with the accelerator held down at all time, including the trailer link up scene, which cause him to crash into every one. It was either that or we would get a black screen. . After some extra practice swapping between between drive and reserve it's possible to reduced the damage, but not totally. If you don't do this the game will soft crash and bring up a black screen until the timer runs out.
This video was made a while back i did experience the same glitch were the missions would end abruptly however once i changed my controls everything worked fine. Thanx for posting i did not know turning off the cb mic made the game button map the nitro that was a big help i got this game working 100% with no errors.
We would hope by now there are newer builds of the emulator we used, to fix some of the issues shown in the video. Changing the setting may help the issue we saw further, but in one case we saw it also cause the game to finish every race on start, from the 2017 build.
I actually have seen this work on Mame however im not sure what build it was .The version of demul i used was demul07a_180816 and like i mentioned the first time i tried to play it it was skipping right to the end of each mission just like the bug u mentioned i then went to the button mapping option and once i set my buttons up the bug that was making the game skip stopped. I actually have been working on trying to make this game work for 5 years but what helped me is now others have started playing it which finally helped me figure out all the quirks and now it finally runs with no problems so tnx again for posting your vid def helped out.

Accelerate back slowly and brake easily so you won't damage the cargo and lose money. Good Texas Hawk ending. Next time try Highway Cat, Iron Bull, Soul Man and Ichibahn so I love to see their endings also.
Please see the video description, you can't do that in the current build of the emulator else you get a soft crash of the game. Best Riven found after recording the video was to swap between drive to reverse to reduce the damage. You can't let your foot of the gas else the game black screens.
Whoops, I meant to say that I don't have arcade cabinets and I don't use arcade game emulators either. I guess I was confusing this version with the PlayStation 2 version (which I normally don't do), although this version is better than the PlayStation 2 version in my opinion since I'm a Christian gamer. My apologies. I'll edit my other comment in this conversation.
If this game returns on PS4 or PS5 it could have 2 different versions of the game to play which includes the arcade version and the story mode like the one seen on the PS2 version
Even some new challenges such as Convoy Combo 1,2,3 as well as the VS battle stages reuse the stages from either Rival Chase or King of Route 66 mode I don’t mind which but also a crazy idea is to use the Torando Truckers in Route 66 Challenge or something
I never played this game at a local arcade, but I remember playing the arcade version of "18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker" at Chuck E. Cheese's quite a long time ago. In my opinion, since I'm a Christian gamer, this version of this sequel to "18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker" is better because the PlayStation 2 version is a big letdown as it contains "T for Teen rated" content, unlike this version (hopefully I'm not wrong). I guess I'll have to go to a local arcade just to play the original arcade version instead.
The PS2 version is a very different game, but we do prefer this arcade version way more, shame it never got a direct home port. As many of the PS2 changes are very unwelcome.

I wonder why they didn’t leave in that Distance Counter or the Convoy Gimmick as well as those shortcuts in Stage 3 as they were fun
