- A little trip back in time to the good old Diablo 2 days in the early 2000's :)
Watching this cinematic always sends chills down my spine, especially with the musical score and sound effects.
Act 5 - "Destruction's End"
Ending cinematic from the game "Diablo 2 - Lord of Destruction" (the expansion set for "Diablo 2").
- "Though the hero manages to destroy Baal, Tyrael informs the hero that Baal already corrupted the Worldstone completely. Deeming it too dangerous to let the corrupt Worldstone remain (as it would drain Sanctuary of its powers and allow the hosts of Hell to spill forth into the mortal realm), Tyrael decides that it must be destroyed."

The removal of those ethereal wings in Resurrected is an absolute crime.
Edit: I get that they removed them to be more in line with the current depiction of the character but he didn't have these wings all the time. Only here when he is destroying the Worldstone. He's obviously in some sort of powered up state and that's what makes the feather pattern of the wings come out. That makes it being removed feel like even more of a loss.
100 percent agree. Not only did those Ethereal wings look cool as shit but i always loved the general "unfocused/hazyness" look to Tyrael in OG diablo 2. It was that ethereal energy on his wings and ephemeral miraged aura on Tyraels body that really accentuated the point that he was not a being of the mortal world.

The D2R cinematics are obviously higher quality and better graphically, but I miss the way the originals are animated. Tyrael's wings and Marius' schizophrenic movements are little details that seemed to be looked over in the new cutscenes. But hey, at least the World Stone isn't made of wood anymore.

@@CannibaLouiST Nah, they get some things right. Stiff animation is my biggest complaint. Some changes work and other don't, which is to be expected with any remake or adaptation.

When I first saw those words after defeating Baal for the first time, I, for some odd reason, believed that Diablo 3 would have more of a modern-age setting.
This was, however, back when I was 12 or something.

I love so many cinematic scenes made by blizzard from every one of their IP’s but I cant agree more with this, Destruction’s End is the greatest. Sorry Arthas, Kerrigan and all the rest of the greats

Diablo 2 was happy to be an unsettling, disturbing and gorey game with cinematics to match it. Diablo 3 tried to be some kind of mainstream "everyone must buy!" game and movie cinematic and failed to do so completely with a contrived story without a hint of originality or brilliance. When game developers have passion for how THEY see their games, instead of wondering how we'll all see it, real games will be made. Look no further than the real money action house to see who was steering the ship off course.

What I found funny is every teenager that had any pc gaming knowledge played Diablo 2 and 1.6 back then, and they felt they needed to reinvent the wheel for a new audience, ppl still playing d2

Diablo 2 resurrected tried to keep the spirit of this one, but honestly the original is too good. Of course its still better.

Diablo 3 has yet to be released.
I'd watch this cutscenes on pretty much every play through on every char I made as it absolutely stood the test of time the remastered version doesn't hold a candle to it this was back when blizzard was the pinnacle of cinematics. Even the incantations he is muttering was clearer.
I remember hearing the full track for this scene somewhere but I cant remember. I need to find it and download it!

when i see someone still fighting a graphics war from over a decade ago in youtube comments, i die a little inside.
playing a game for graphics are like wathing a p-movie for the story
I like the shatter effect of the worldstone more here then in the remastered one. It feels mor like the light is pouring out, and after the final shattering the light leaves, leaving a feeling of hopelessnes

Why at so many people still stuck on the graphics issue? The game is like 12 or more years old, so yea graphics won't be smooth and shiny, but if that's all you play a game for then you need to pick up another hobby. You play a game for the story not the graphics.
Games aren't about the story. It is about having fun with something that you can interact with, if you like games with story than that is fine, some people like it with better graphics. People can like what they want to like don't have to judge them, just ignore those who do judge. Just my opinion
I get that, but I'm talking about people who don't like games just because the graphics aren't like fallout 4 or something. Don't get me wrong I like good graphical games too, but I don't condemn a game because of poor graphics.

I love this game I like it sooooooo much
How do you trigger this cutscene? After I killed Baal and talked to Tyriel, he opened the Destruction's End portal, I went into it, and nothing happened. It just showed me a screen that said my character will now be known as "slayer" and when I hit the button on that screen it took me back to the main menu where it prompted me to pick Normal or Nightmare. I picked Normal, got back into the game, talked to the people around the barbarian settlement, and they talked about how I saved the world and the worldstone will be destroyed. I went back to the Rogue Encampment to play the cow level, then when I was done I looked up if there's really no ending to Lord of Destruction and found this. So I tried going back to Baal's throne room but he and all his minions are alive again.
What gives?

This is how the series ended in my book - on a high note. I refuse to accept Diablo 3's pathetic excuse of a story. What a poorly written, lousily executed piece of lore-ruining nonsense devoid of any atmosphere.

Nonsense. Diablo always had very interesting, competently written lore (it might not have been that apparent if you just hacked and slashed mindlessly through the entire game, but for those who bothered to read the manual that came with Diablo 1, there was much to discover) which combined with the masterfully crafted atmosphere made the universe fascinating.
Then Diablo 3 came along and suddenly, everything wnet full bonkers - from the graphical style to the tone, writing and story.
Diablo 3's story is like some Saturday cartoon storyline. I could see the plot twists MILES away. I kept telling them to my friends before hand while we played it for the first time... and EACH time I was right. It was REALLY bad.
Game itself is fun tho.

Diablo 2 sets the stage for an expansion that is similar to the Sin War but with humanity as the Nephilim being influenced by heaven and hell to join their side. This would allow the hero to do missions that ally themselves more so with heaven or hell affecting the outcome of the game.

Some people don't. I guess it matters more if you are playing a game for the first time. I've spent an awful lot on my computer to end up playing baldur's gate saga and the orinal DotA, most of the time.
An other excellent example is Diablo. I'd much sooner reinstall D2 than reactivate my D3 account.

I think Tyrael was great in Diablo 3! He defied his kinsmen to uphold justice because, that is how dedicated he is. He will uphold it even if it means giving up immortality and power overwhelming.

Diablo calls other two devils his brothers and all of a sudden he became female in D3. They may argue that devils have no gender, but most obviously Andariel was a female and Diablo was a male. Tyreal had no face in D2, but became a black man. Am I the only one thinking Tyreal without face was much more politically just than being black?
You're overthinking it. Diablo's appearance changed three times in as many games and the excuse the devs gave each time was that he reflected the forms and fears of the bodies he inhabited. It was always as much about him as it was about the people he infested the nightmares of.
As far as Tyrael being black, they more or less went with reflecting his voice casting for appearance. Jonathan Adams got the role because Ed Trotta (The voice actor in D2) was working on other things at the time.
This isn't a case of things being 'Political'. It's just creatives being creatives and experimenting with things.

I meant it does not fit because Diablo is the main boss and LoD should have been treated as side story.
Is it me or Diablo 1 and 2 plus the expansion pack was better than Diablo 3 did you pay close attention the graphics are not the same the music to texture the way the angel sword is not the same Terrell his sword is way different in here including the armor I don't even think it's the same voice actor either every time I played my old games I rather be playing Diablo online then I like to see this ending because I love the soundtrack especially this one blizzard what happened to you you lost your touch
