I recently started collecting the Oak Ridge Boys discography. Two days later, I read Joe Bonsall (tenor singer) passed away at age 76 of ALS. Joe for me was the one you kept watching of the four. That infectious smile and energy. Thank you Joe Bonsall. RIP.🙏🙏🙏
Time waits for none of us, Imadrummin! I can't imagine being diagnosed with ALS. Classy gesture, brother, choosing this iconic tune by the Oak Ridge Boys! May God rest your soul, Joe Bonsall. 🙏
This was my secret " country" pick when I was a cool hippy chick. Lol. Richard Sterban's wonderful bass addition of "Giddyup, ba oom, papa oom, papa mow mow" would blast on my parents stereo when no one was home. Pure joy!!! Joe Bonsall's rich tenor vocal so high and clear, drove this energetic performance to perfection. Sorry to see he recently passed. 💔Knew you'd love it Harri, Tennessee's finest, had your braids swinging. 😂😂 Great reaction. Wonderful selection Imadrummin. 👏👏🥁🥁 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
I knew that you were gonna love this one. After your reactions to the Statler Brothers (espeically Harold Reid), the Oaks (with their bass Richard Sterban) were the obvious next group. And I just noticed someone said that Joe Bonsall had died. RIP and thanks for the music.
The Oak Ridge Boys actually began in 1943. They were strictly a gospel group originally. I think the last original member left in the 1960s. They switched to secular music around the start of the 1970s, I think. By the time they got famous, they were a completely different group than what they'd been for most of their previous career.
J.D. and The Stamps Quartet joined Elvis in November of 1971. Elvis had two backup bass singers with Richard onboard. Richard left the group and joined The Oakridge Boys in late October of 1972.
Glad you are checking out this great country gospel band. Elvira was a huge hit for the ORB in 1981. You need to check out the collaboration they did with Home Free for this song "Elvira". The Oak Ridge Boys had a lot of hits. Check out their fun song called "Bobbie Sue". Sadly we just lost their tenor Joe Bonsall a few days ago.
Harry, if you want another joy giving song from The Oak Ridge Boys, you really should give their song "Everyday" a listen :) Oh, and if you want more of Richard Sterban's voice, listen to their song called "Dream On" where he sings lead.
Years ago, I was walking through the assembly department of a factory I worked at, several of the lines had radios. This comes on one radio station and like a tidal wave every other radio tuned to that station and yes a lot of us sang along.
This song is on my Playlist from it being constantly being played here on the farm the whole summer when it came out. All the guys in the family tried to hit those low notes. A memorable song.
When I was 8 or 9, this song came out and I always loved it when it played on radio. It was one of the coolest songs and I loved singing along to it. Good memories!
@@agnetesorensenelbom5085 Agnete, these guys formed 15 minutes away from my house. Legendary. Here is a great wiki of them. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Oak_Ridge_Boys Hope you find time to read about them. True gentlemen and talent off the charts. Enjoy the read.
How would you feel about having some more "diamonds" in your ears? For me?... A Basso Profondo+love song="Dream On" (Richard Sterban, singing lead on that one). Totally fell for his bass voice with THAT song. IF you want to do it.... I'll listen. ;) Thank you for our reaction. I appreciate.
If you like bass singers Harri, you need to check out J.D.Sumner, GUINNESS WORLD BOOK RECORD HOLDER as the LOWEST BASS IN THE WORLD! He was a backup singer for Elvis Presley and heard in many of Elvis videos and recordings. He won the GUINNESS AWARD with the song BLESSED ASSURANCE.
In concert, that low bass part made the seats vibrate. I was 22 and fell in love with Richard Sterban's bass voice!
I seen them in Kansas City and that’s what I remember! The floor vibrated
First, R.I.P. Joe! One of the first concerts I went to was Oaks touring support this album “Fancy Free”. Crowd was loving it!

In 1970, Bass singer Richard Sterban was in J.D. Sumner and the Stamps who were back up male quartet for Elvis Presley.

Everyday is such a great song Rebel. You have great taste my friend. 👍👍👍

Definitely Country. I wish they were still around singing. One of my favorites. ❤

2 songs forever etched on my brain: The Devil Went Down to Georgia and It's a Heartache. From a tobacco patch radio CONSTANTLY playing them.
Everything about this song is perfect.
The Oak Ridge Boys are absolute legends.
The guy with the bass voice was with Elvis for about a year.
Back when cars had cassette players in their dashboards we used to listen to this CD while driving to the family reunion. :) Great memories.
It's Pronounced "Ell " Vie - Ra " Elvira. This is one of the Oak Ridge Boy's biggest and best songs.
I still have this 45 record from back in the day! We about wore it out!❤
Love this song. What’s not to love? Thanks Harri and Imadrummin 🌺✌️
Much appreciated Debbie!!!😀😀😀
Good reaction to a great song. Thank you. This song always reminded me of a song by the Coasters entitled "Searchin"
When I was 8 or 9, this song came out and I always loved it when it played on radio. It was one of the coolest songs and I loved singing along to it. Good memories!
Check out HOME FREE and THE OAK RIDGE BOYS doing this one together. More 💎 for your ears!
Bobbie sue is another good one. We saw them live at the grand ole opry
R.I p joe bonsall
I just stumbled across this song a couple of weeks ago and I think I put it on a list. 😂 Great song Imadrummin and Harri.
Awesome to hear Cynthia.!👍
The bass voice is that of Richard Sterban.
I never hear anyone react to this group . Thank you! You should react to The Statler Brothers doing The Class of 57 (Had its Dreams).
I was not into country music as a kid like my Mom and Dad. They were one of those groups with a sound that just made them good to hear every time )
Love this one ❤ New to me 🧐🙃😅 Thank you Ima and Harri 🎉🎉🎉
Agnete, they had 17 #1 hits on the country charts. There is a good wikipedia article if you want to know more. 👍👍👍
@@Imadrummin That would be great

It's funny because in my language - portuguese - it's pronounced the way you firstly did!! 😉😉
Harri - you reacted to Home Free singing this with the Oak Ridge Boys October 2021
Fantastic reaction!! 😊
Oh yeahhhhhhh!!
The Oaks were great but as far as harmony and blend, I always pick the Statlers
Look up " Elvira - Misstress Of The Night ".
Elvira late night horror tv hostess….Elvira
Same name but not about her unfortunately
When this song first came out, I thought they were saying “well, fire up”
They are country. they started out as gospel singers.
I know the song but don't know who sang the song that I heard. The Oak Ridge Boys did it right
The Oak Ridge boys have a country vibe because they are country. You don’t have a name like Oak Ridge boys unless you are a country band
The next Oaks song you might like is Bobbie Sue. It has similar vibes.
Here's one that no one else has reacted to thus far. Oak Ridge Boys - "I'll Be True To You". Forewarning! It's sad lol!
Hi Mr. Harri, I am assuming U heard the Oak Ridge Boys say the name of this Song.. and it is nah•tra not naa•tra ♠Mr.G..
This is not the original. It's a cover which was originally done by Dallas Frazier, but I think the Oak Ridge Boys' version is so much better.
This is a cover song. But you need to check out Elvira that they sing this song about an 1981
Richard is one of the lowest bass singers in history- he can get WAY lower than he goes on this song. Him & Harold Reid, both are awesome. RIP Joe!
Listen to jd sommer he can sing way lower . if you like bass singers
LOVE ALL THERE SONGS BUT THEIR BEST IS EASILY DREAM ON
