- Well, be sure to watch till the end for a Zygonisia orchid repot surprise! This intergeneric hybrid orchid is a Zygo crossed with an Aganisia. This plant has been in my collection for 5-6 months. It was in double spike when I purchased it and bloomed gorgeous, scented flowers that were removed 2 months later. Can I get it to bloom again? Maybe!

Generally speaking, a good time to repot is when there are new roots growing. This way if older more sensitive roots fail, the new ones will give you a better chance for the plant. My Zygonisia's seem to be less sensitive to repotting than my pure Zygos and after a good sulk for a few months, they have gleefully thrown up strong new growths. Hopefully yours will as well.
Thanks for sharing your experience! That spot I pointed out at the end of the video was not a spike but rather a new growth. The new roots from the previous growth are headed down into the media now. All good!

@@TheOrchidHut I live in USDA zone 7A, temperate climate I kept them outside year round in winter they are in a heated greenhouse some are inside but grow best outside because I don’t have grow lights. I keep them wet in the summer water everyday in a bark

You should refer to miss orchid girl to help you be more successful with your orchids I notice you dont use spagnum moss which retains moisture better...I've been following her for some years now with much success with my orchids...just a small tip... good luck with your babies😊
No thanks. In fact, her methods absolutely don’t work in my humid growing environment. Why do you think I’m not successful? Every orchid type has different growing requirements and every grower experiences successes and failures. It’s part of the hobby.
@@TheOrchidHut not thinking your not successful I too live in Texas and her methods work for me just a tip no disrespect intended...but I do notice your babies show signs of dehydration...and her methods absolutely have helped me tremdously...happy growing❤️
Thank You for the video.. I do have a question about your pot. Why doesn't your new pot have a few side holes for air movement ? I also need to do a repot and wondering IF the new pot I use should have those holes .
I think the answer lies in your growing environment. I am in a very hot climate and during the peak of summer I had to water this orchid twice a day! It was that thirsty! So the side holes would have worked against me. The media mix I made gave the plant enough air circulation.
