Instagram is no longer a photography platform, you've surely heard this phase lots recently. So I adapted my content to easy, mobile-workflow friendly reels and now I am very famous again. In this video I shared my instagram reel super secret secrets for photographers!

Gave your method a shot and holy crap does it work. Did one with my photos from Watkins Glen State Park and it quickly became one of my most watched and engaged reels and it's doing fairly well on TH-cam Shorts. Thanks for the kickass advice!

What size do you export the pictures in before adding them to the video?

Thank you. Tbh I don't understand tiktok. I only use it for posting test reels, like different versions sometimes but I have no idea how to get followers there and to be honest it's my least favorite platform.

How do you make money on Instagram if gain lot of followers?
Thank you for this. You need to try out Vero, the algorithm there let's many people see your photos.
Only downside at the moment is the audience are mainly other photographers. I'm sure within the next year the app will develop and improve.
I've actually been on vero since the start. It's fine but the audience there is just too small for it to be a serious competitor. If that changes it'd be awesome.

Since i started Instagram in 2016, I do street vs landscape and also portraits photos ( now reels too) do you think these are very different from each other ?
Depends if there's an underlying theme or the way you edit, I also do all of those but they are tied together by the same mood

It's good to abuse it for a bit and get what you deserve. You have a pretty unique style but the thing is it's not viral (you don't do trends). In my opinion reels can have a different use for photographers like showing some gear, or b rolls of some clicks etc. Showing shots with music is kinda more fun than scrolling but i still don't like it that way

Yes but like I said in the very end of the video, if you divert reels to a totally different type of content (like just showing cameras), and then get an influx of followers from that (because reels just go viral too easily), then your engagement on your regular posts is likely going to suffer, which can then kill your whole account. So it has to be related to your main content, as closely as possible, to be worth doing.

I have followed the steps using the Cap Cut app, and I already have the reel ready with the music. But when posting the reel on IG, as I have put the music with Cap Cut, it doesn't detect what song it is, and I have to put it as "own original sound".
If you put the music in Cap Cut using the method you explain, how do you get IG to detect your sound?

Ig doesn't detect it, you have to put it through the music library manually. Annoying but worth it for the algorithm.
@@teemu.mp4 But if I make the reel with CapCut app (even without sound), I can't add the music in IG later. I get a message saying that I can't add sound to that reel. Doesn't that happen to you? Maybe is just my phone...
And another question. If you have to add the music from the IG library in order to detect it, then why the step of download the audio from a reel and extract it and putting it into CapCut and match the beat and export the reel with the music? (That's what I think you do in the tutorial, isn´t it)

@@Zicrom I think maybe it's related to your location. Can you add music to any reels? its not a problem for me.
The reason I add the music in the editing phase is to ensure the cuts are timed correctly.
Music detection is not a thing on ig.
@@teemu.mp4 yes, I can add music to any reel, both in Capcut and on IG. BUT, if I create the reel in Capcut, I can't add the music to it on IG, that's my problem. If I create the reel directly in IG, then yes, I can add the music from the sound library, but if I try to add the music to a reel created in Capcut, that's where I have the problem and I can't do it. And in your tutorial, I see that you export the reel from Capcut directly with the sound on it.
Well, I think I'll post the reel imported from Capcut (with the music already included from Capcut), although that doesn't help the IG algorithm.

With Capcut I can't export without watermark.. How do you get those without watermark on IG?
I can't remember fully as I haven't just got a long time, but there is an option au the end you can untick, or delete the clip at the end where they add automatically.
Im having an issue where my reels stay at 0 views and never go above
there's a box that you don't wanna unclick that says something like "also share to explore". That or maybe a shadowban?
