      Leighann Hi Leighann!! Congrats on your new smile. At 2 weeks in, you won’t be able to eat (especially biting into stuff) many things. I found mashed potatoes, pudding, soup (blended up), eggs, ice cream & protein shakes worked. It’ll be a good 6 weeks before you can start to try firmer foods. It’ll be frustrating but it gets better every day. I wish you all the best. 😁

      I'm almost at 2 weeks and honestly I've been eating better without them in... eggs(I went to town on eggs fast with them out the other day) and little bites of soft stuff(there was some sausage and soft hash browns thrown in with the eggs and I felt like for the first time since my teeth came out that I was overfull) otherwise macaroni and cheese mashed potatoes pudding with the equate protein shakes you can get at Walmart throughout the day at work to keep me going

    Thank you so much!! I'm 10 days post op for upper and lower dentures and I cant wait to eat something like that!! My bottom is still loose and cant get a soft liner yet because I'm not healed up enough yet. I'm going to keep watching you because of the hope you bring. I cant thank you enough for putting yourself out there like this to help people you don't even know, God Bless you!!

      Hi there. Congrats on your new smile! You’re in the rough time now but I’ll get better. I know what you mean about the bottom denture. I never had any relines on my immediate dentures. Instead, I used the OTC liner material on my bottom denture as well as a combo adhesive (gel & powder) method. Together (OTC liner & adhesive combo) helped keep my bottom denture secured which allowed me to eat lots of this. It’ll still come loose if you drink hot/warm liquids but it does help. Usually my seal would break around dinner time. I have videos showing the application of the adhesive combo method. Best of luck to you. Let me know how you’re doing. 😁

    Thanks for this! I got my full upper and partial lower about 2 weeks ago and they are immediate dentures. Your videos are a big help and and informative! You don't have to apologize so much, we are all in the same boat and the best part about this, is that we all become new people with new teeth! It's amazing!! Good luck with yours!!

      @lilliandarling2016  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Knight Wizaed It takes some time to get adjusted for sure but you’ll acclimate to it. I can taste stuff just fine but I will admit I have to rinse my mouth & dentures after eating because food will sometimes get caught under the dentures. I’ve noticed the taste of what I ate or drank will stay in my mouth but rinsing helps. 😁

    • @lilliandarling2016
      @lilliandarling2016  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jay. Day 10? Congratulations on your new smile. I’ll be honest with you. You’re going to be on that type of diet for a few weeks. I think it was around 6 weeks when I tried some Chex mix @ work. I was so happy. As the weeks go by, try new (soft) foods. Take small bites as well. I also used to chew on both sides at the same time (when I had my immediate dentures) to minimize the bottom denture from rocking (it moves a lot & it’s hard to keep it secure all day even with adhesive). You’ll work up to being able to eat lots of things as time goes by. Good luck!! Let me know how you’re doing. 😁 (I’ve had dentures for 5 years this May. 1 year of immediate dentures (hardest part) & 4 years of permanent dentures w/o adhesive for 4 years). I can even bite into whole apples but I’ll admit that’s not something I do daily. I do love corn on the cob & eat that often.

    • @lilliandarling2016
      @lilliandarling2016  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lucy. A burrito? Oooh, that’s a tough one especially so early on. You’d think it’d be ok since it’s “soft” right? Nope, a burrito is challenging because you have to bite down into it & it’s not as soft as you though. I must admit, biting into food was the most challenging. Plus, it’s a large food so you have to open your mouth wide & that can cause your dentures to move around (especially if you’re not wearing adhesive or if the adhesive has loosened). I remember realizing “soft” food isn’t as soft as we realize. I tried to eat a banana early on & that was an epic fail too. It’s frustrating in the beginning but it’ll get better as the weeks go by. Congratulations on your new smile. Good luck!! Let me know how you’re doing.

    Awesome thank you so much for making this video, especially for turning to the side to see it. I was laughing when you mentioned how you weren't going to make an eating video. It helps though for those of us who are visual learners and you were an absolute trooper! My main problem is moving the food from side to side and trying to keep the bottom denture down doing it. Bill is fantastic but he is further along in his journey so his gums are a bit harder? (not sure if that is the correct term)

    I am starting week 5 and when I try to Chew anything my left bottom hurts so bad. I just can't do it. I have been in for adjustments and everything. The pain is so bad when I'm biting down it is causing me not to. I still basically am eating soup and mashed potatoes only. I had all crowns and they had to cut them all out. I had began crowning my teeth at 24 and I'm 49 now. Got my immediate dentures on Jan 14, 2019. After today it will start my 5th week.
    I don't think I am ever gonna be able to eat anything that's not super soft. Even chewing on soft food hurts so bad. Thanks for your video. It's inspiring. How long before all the pain from gums goes away. If mine didn't hurt so bad I think I could chew some. 😥

      I agree! I don't know if you read my story that I briefly posted on Bill's Channel, but my insurance NOR my doctor (neither) would do immediate dentures! So this past April, I had begun having my teeth extracted two by two. I completed that process in May. Then the "Denture Adventure" consists of 5 appointments, beginning 8 weeks after my last extraction. The first appointment is the initial impression, then #2 is a final impression, the 3rd is "Bite & Shade", 4th is "Wax Try In" and approval of shade, style, and fit, and then finally the 5th appointment is Pick up of your dentures. There is a 2-week "Lab Process" between each step. So, needless to say, I have been toothless since May 5th! I go for my 4th step in 2 weeks, and I should FINALLY have my dentures August 23rd. YAY! I can't tell you how much everyone's videos are helping me.Even though I don't have my dentures yet, I feel like once I do get them I will have a plethora of knowledge lol (I swear that's the first time I ever used that word, plethora aahaha)!!! So thank you for putting yourself out there because you truly are helping (me, anyway)!! ♡ Staci

    I goty teeth pulled out and immediate dentures on April 11th. I had zero idea the journey that was with dentures. The rockin, the sores, the rubbing, the teeth coming loose after 3-4 hours, trying every powder, glue, strip, wafer, known to man. The constant soft realigns, the gum shrinking, the grinding, ALL of it!!!! Having to wait up to a yr for it all to heal before I can get snap ins. Had I only known what a pain I the @$$ this was gonna be!!! I can't eat, can't pronounce "S" words, gags me to swallow, I love how they look buuuuuuuuuuut other than that, I Hate everything about them. They said it'll be 8 months to a yr before my gums heal all the way & shrunk down. You get 1 thing corrected that's bothering you, & something else messes up! I'd never ever ever never cheer on someone getting dentures. Idc how old you are. If you can save your teeth, definitely save them

    Here's another tip I was told by one of my dentists assistants that if you want you buy if you can especially true on both sides of your mouth at the same time especially if it's neat or anyting hard so you're actually putting you not try to bite then I bought it in half again and I try to chew on both sides of my mouth at the same time which is not something that's normal but it will become normal and it almost makes it easier to compete that lower plate especially in

    • @lilliandarling2016
      @lilliandarling2016  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Shawna. That’s a good question. 😁 Getting used to having something covering your pallet does take some adjustment but once you get used to it, there’s no issue. I can feel food in my mouth with my tongue. I’ve never had an issue with chocking. This video was taken when I had immediate dentures & needed to use adhesive. I received my permanent dentures in May 2017 & I haven’t used adhesive since getting them. I think eating now is much easier. 😁

I remember eating Chex mix a few weeks after my surgery & I was so excited. The key is to go slow & to continue trying new foods often. What you may not be able to eat 1 day, you may the next. Hi Travis. Congrats on your new upcoming smile. Good news...you’ll have time to do some research. YT has a bunch of channels with awesome information. In May, I’ll be 3 years out from getting my dentures with 2 years being adhesive free in my permanent set. The 1st couple of weeks are the toughest. The year of healing will be challenging because your gums will be shrinking so your permanent denture will be too big but you’ll learn how to apply adhesive. When it comes to eating, you’ll learn how to bite & chew differently. I found taking small bites & chewing on both sides at the same time help keep the dentures from rocking. There’s so much information out on YT to help you. You’re not alone. Best of luck!!

      Flutter Bize Hello there. Yes, I totally know what you mean. I still get annoyed when I’m eating nuts as they’ll get stuck under my bottom denture. Not sure if you use adhesive but try using my combo adhesive technique. You apply paste adhesive to a dry bottom denture. Then spray water onto the inside of the bottom denture & apply powder adhesive. Spray the inside of the bottom denture & repeat applying more powder to the inside of the bottom denture (making sure the powder coats the inside of the denture). Immediately put the bottom denture in your mouth & hold down to let it set up. Don’t drink or eat for 45 mins. I have a couple videos showing the application process. This method worked for me to keep the bottom denture pretty tight all day. I’ve had a lot of people tell me it works. Best of luck to you. 😁

      latanya dean Hi there. I used a combination of paste & then powder on my bottom immediate denture. I have 2 videos showing how I apply it. 😁 I used Secure adhesive on the top denture. I hope you find a method that works for you. That bottom denture is very challenging for sure. Good luck. 😊

    I tried to eat mashed potatoes a couple of days ago, and immediately my lowers went on an adventure moving all around my mouth. I had to just take them out.

    Ive only got some false teeth on the top, 1 i just can't wear the comfortably 2 eating is a huge issue, i also feel like i dont taste food the same with the plate being there on the top, not sure if its because i like rub food off top of my mouth & when plate there i feel i don't taste it.
    Does anyone else feel taste is compromised due to plate

      Kasha S Hi Kasha. I didn’t get a notification for your comment. I just found it now while I was looking for a comment someone left. Yeah, the top plate takes some getting used to. I do taste the food though. Actually I often rinse my mouth out (removing my dentures) after I eat because I feel like the taste of the food sometimes stays in my mouth because some of the food can get caught up under the plate. I love using Scope mouthwash too.

    I've had them for a year but used them here and there, so I've started wearing them every day now. I keep biting down on denture all day and it's starts hurting my front bottom gums and jaw. How can I quit

      froggy43105 Hi Froggy! I know what you mean b/c I do the same thing. Honestly, I find sticking my tongue in between my teeth (on the side) with my mouth closed helps me to stop clenching. No one will see what you’re doing either. I hope this trick works for you. 😁

      Candigirl Morales Hi. I have upper & lower dentures. It takes practice. How far out are you from your extractions?
