With the sub facing the corner the bass doubles, my Acoustimass 10 ii shakes my room and gets down to 27hz with ease. Love some Bose Acoustimass! They also love power, 200 watts per channel makes them come alive.

Actually the Bose Acoustimass 5 series III is made for a 2 channel stereo setup not for a5.1 setup. The Bose Acoustimass 5 series III is designed to be used with a 2 channel stereo receiver.

The subwoofer I'm hearing on that demo sounds excellent.

The base module is definitely suppose to fill the responsibility of a subwoofer. It’s called a base module because it has the crossover built in for the cubes and they go higher than most subwoofers (about up to 200Hz). The version you have lacks bass because it was a passive subwoofer/bass module. Later versions came with an active subwoofer with a built in 400w amp. Those pump a lot of bass, and can be used as fronts without a subwoofer.
Nonetheless, your rear cubes sound wonderful.

The later models come with the amplifier built in. That’s how you know. Another thing is that the later models how down-firing woofers, and if you flip them upside down you can see the woofers. One version came with two woofers. Those were good. Another version came with three woofers, those were amazing.

In case you haven't found out yet, the Bose base module needs to be turned around and have the hole pointed at a wall. The hole on the base module (if I recall) can be as close as 5" from a wall but move it closer and farther to get your desired sound and to still be able to hook-up the cubes. The Cubes MUST be wired to the base module. Hope this helps, I've had the acoustimass since 1990 and right now in a new arrangement of the room, the base module is behind the equipment cabinet long ways along the wall, with the hole aiming towards another wall ten feet away and I have all the clean sounding bass I need. I've really never seen any body on YT have the proper set-up for the module. Hope this helps.

@@pittsburghguy404 I have a lifestyle 48 system. I want to use the five speakers , and bass module with a modern home theater 5.1 receiver. Is this possible?

With the right receiver But remember the base module is not a subwoofer and won’t give you the full punch that’s why I use them as rear speakers

How to connect the Bose accusmas 5, II, to my tv?

I run everything through a home theater receiver I don't know if it's possible to hook it straight to the TV without some sort of adapter after but the TV doesn't put up the necessary wattage

SOUND out of a cube speaker. Nothing wrong with them at all. Top of the line no! But for a family room paired wirh the new sigle cube and brand new 401 series in the back for a family room total 7.1 your looking at 4k worth of speakers. With a new Denon 7.1 120 4k receiver sounds amazing. Onxe the basement is finished of course I
Definititive Technology and Bang and Oluffusin. But way better then a soundbar B.S.
