Great job explaining built in RAID 0 and RAID 1 built into OS X. Have you thought about using a HiPoint 7101a NVME hardware raid card, you should get speeds of about 7 Gigabytes per second read and writes on a 16x PCie 2.0 bus.
I just wanted to add that if you're going to use a soft RAID 0… please, please, PLEASE make sure to constantly backup your RAID. I can't tell you how many of my studio friends did this and didn't bother to backup their computers. Their only hope was a recovery service, which none of them were able to afford.
Can Mac OS be installed onto a raid set up ? Have a 2012 Mac Mini Server but once the Raid is set up the install won’t allow me to use the 2 internal drives once raided ???
Hi, Thanks for sharing the video. One question: Can RAID0 be read by another computer? or different OS, let's say im on Yosemite, and then i plan to install El Capitan in the future, is it still readable? Thanks
There are a few factors in speeding up Macs. One resource I discovered which successfully combines these is the Achak Speed Plan (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the no.1 resource i've seen.look at all the interesting info .
ricky v A “de-esser” rolls off high frequencies on a audio track. When you use words that start or end the letter “S”. It can sometimes create a unpleasant to the ear, high frequency “sizzle” sound..
Hello, I am currently running my mac on a 500GB SSD, will I be able to link another of the same 500GB SSD to the one I am currently using with out having to reinstall my operating system all over again?, thanks.
+Marcy Marc You'll have to make a clone of your OS drive onto another drive (could be any external HDD), then format and RAID the two SDDs, then re-clone the OS drive over to the RAID drives.
MusicTechHelpGuy can you do this but restore using Time Machine? In other words, create the raid0, then restore from a time machine and your computer will be how you last had it, only in Raid? Or will it not work? Thanks!
thanks for share!, can it increase the performance when i use disk utility raid 0 apply to 2 M2 ssd which installed on 2 pcie slot? I am using MacPro / high sierra / bios 14.4 , 1 m2 970 evo plus. actually , I hope to do somthing to my old mac get more performance
Why bother, before you attempt to answer take a deep look at running Mojave with a dual NVME set-up, in particular the speeds. Why anyone with an eMP 4,1-5,1 is not running Mojave is absurd, but if you need a push Apple announced High Sierra won't be supported after NOVEMBER 30TH, yes 2020! My apologies haven't had my java yet, Lol.
@@emotionalintelligence776 I tried the 2 m2 970evo raid 0 on Mojave, .I remember the white speed is more stable than sierra, but I was use Nvidia web driver that hi sierra is the last supported os... anyway , thanks for your suggestion, I will re use mojave when I get the rx580 display card.
@@user-zs4iv3vf5m I'm building an eMP for a good friend as he already has a 4,1 it's a good base to start with. My 5,1 already has the bootrom flash and GPU Radeox 570 RX upgrade ( no boot screen) and my temporary 500gb NVME sits in my top PCIe slot. For anyone looking at the fastest speeds skip raid configurations look at buying a dual or quad NVME adapter depending on your budget. A 2 or 4 TB NVME set-up is going to suffice for most people and for some a single 1TB will do. This allows you to use the slow as a snail SATA 2 docks for your back-ups and excess storage. From what I've researched about raid configurations and NVME speeds this is of particular interest if you Google www.xlr8yourmac.com benchmark of I/O Crest SYBA SI-PEX40129 Dual M.2 NVME.

thank you , could I use a thunderbay4 tb3 external , could I I do this on that ?
Great video. I plan to do something like this in an old Mac Pro as well. Thank you for showing us your results.

Extremely clear and straightforward thank you!

i have at 2 bays mirrored two HDD , that means than if one of them fails i can replace it and can have at the new HDD the data had the old one right ?

Hi, very useful 😜
Do you work with your audio data on your raid partition which contains your os ?

does this work with external HDD?
ive been using computers since forever, and im ashamed of myself for never looking into this until today ? lol
You should use a de-esser plugin on your voice track... just saying.
What would this do to His voice quality? I am interested in learning about recording my voice.

Lay ZBoy Thank you for helping me out! (:
This really help the speed of my Mac 2010. Rendering is almost 10X's faster
ive just gotten into 3d modeling etc, and this information is music to me ears yeah ;)
Can you do bootcamp on raid?
if i enable trim while on raid, will it be enabled on both ssd's?
Old Mac Pro's can now use NVME as boot drive, easily doubles raid 0 SSD!!
7Trident3 what is that?
they need to have an easy raid 10 built in but apple wont
