In the bronze medal game Brooks actually packed away the shenanigans and stayed on the floor long enough to play a complete game of basketball. He's a role player, that role is a 3 & D wing, objectively he's one of the best in the world at the role right now. There's always those guys that you hate when they're on the opposing team but like when they are on yours.
You don't have to like him, but you gotta respect it at this point. He isn't a bad player and I believe his antics are mainly mind games and NBA NEEDS a villain, he does it so well.

For me, Brooks is a Venom type persona of a player. You can't hate or love him, sort of Anti-Hero type.
If you watch it live, you can clearly see that the main problem of USA team was that they don't have any elite defender and they also struggling in rebounding. USA can't let SGA play iso on Austin Reaves which mostly force them to play double team and most of it result to Dillon get a wide open shot and they dare him to take the shot. Shoutout to him, he did his job really good last night and that's why Canada won.
Well they had the defensive POY, if he is not elite I am not sure who else is although he didn't show up in the games that mattered.

Both team just hunting USA weak point by give those guards a mismatch against USA and just repeat the same strategy over and over while USA almost have no answer to defend that.

I kinda see what Ime Udoka thinks in regards of Brooks creating a good situation for young and developing players.
After all he takes a lot of heat from the media and is often the one seen responsible for his teams failure which might take pressure from his teammates.
I can also imagine that if someone decides to try and bully a teammate of his on the court they could propably count on him being there.
Plus he really want´s to win and fight for it, so not the worst veteran player to be around your prospects. And always better than playing against him.

I'm not a huge Dillon Brooks fan, but this is how soft the NBA culture has become. Gone are the times of Ron Artest, Dennis Rodman, and the Piston bad boys. Dillon Brooks is your biggest villain. He is literally vilified by the media. I literally have no problem with this as it adds to the interest of basketball.
I like villains and physical defense, but deliberating injuring or hurting players is not acceptable. Cases in point: GP2 in 2022 WCF and nutshooting Donovan Mitchell.

lol. Should have waited one more day to put this out. At the end of the Bronze game the crowd was cheering MVP, MVP for Brooks in the bronze game where he absolutely lit it up. Apparently he was working on his show in the OVO mechanics workshop in Toronto pre-FIBA.... it worked. Dude was shooting lights out. If he can actually be a legit shooting threat, then any team will put up with those antics as he is one of a very few players in the league who always play defense every game.
