I think that you are in for a treat. This driver is so great! And Steve's design, i'm sure, will get the very best out of it. One of these days, I'm gonna try to make it to his place, but difficult, because I am about 700 miles away.

Thank you! No crossover. Bi-amped using a Crown XLS-
1002 sub amp crossed at 200hz.

Based on the "Liionidas" design. www.lii-audio.com/product/pair-liionidas-open-baffle-and-xo-without-drivers-simple-and-musical-complete-solution/ I scaled mine down a bit, and I don't use a crossover, but bi-amp using a Crown sub amp.

I have not had the opportunity to listen live but here on yt they sound weird, as if they have a low-efficiency, low-dynamic sound. Or am wrong?
