    Greetings from New Zealand. As a 66 yr old woman I'm guessing I'm not your typical viewer! You've given me the confidence to tackle installation of a front brake stop light cable and replacing a faulty indicator unit on my cb350 twin. I'm about to do my first ever cam chain and valve adjustments. LOVE your humour, fun and style👍

When I started, the eccentric mark on the valve adjustment screw was facing the wrong way so by correcting that maybe I've stuffed up. Also the previous owner installed electronic ignition which may now be out of whack......anyway I'll keep trying👍

    I agree, disable the automatic oiler and run premix. That way you know what it’s getting. Great video.

    • @marvinwegner6119
      @marvinwegner6119 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems that everyone feels that premixing the fuel is better than the pump. The oil pump is much more proportional with changes in throttle position.

    • @jackallen6261
      @jackallen6261 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I've run 2 stroke dirt bikes since the late seventies. I will grant you that back in the day the pump ran off of the transmission so idling meant NO oil so hardly anyone I knew ran the pump if it was installed so maybe today they are better but I know if I pre-mixed the fuel the engine was getting oil, For this reason, I will continue to premix fuel and oil. Just my thoughts to each their own. I have also forgotten to add oil to the little tank...that ain't pretty.

    • @mattmanyam
      @mattmanyam 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marvinwegner6119 exactly how are you working out this logic?
      What exactly does a carburetor do? The fuel delivery increases with rpms, therefore the pre-mix oil also increases with rpms... at *exactly* the same proportion. These pumps are unreliable, and usually too rich. Pre-mix is definitely the way to go, if you're down for the hassle.

    • @yadaroni
      @yadaroni 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If the vehicle is new, then the oiler is usually the best route. Once they get older, the oiler can become less efficient or even stop working without you knowing. It is a valid choice to shut off the oiler if it becomes unpredictable. Better to know your engine is getting some oil as opposed to finding out the hard was that it wasn't.

    • @marvinwegner6119
      @marvinwegner6119 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattmanyam The oiler is driven off the crankshaft is directly proportional to engine rpm. Premixing is directly related the Mixture screw (lean or rich amount of fuel/oil) and who mixed the fuel, and in this case the main needle height and air velocity.
      If the the motor is lean the oil is lean. The pump doesn't care how you set the carb its getting the right oil if the cable on the pump is in spec. Ask a person to mix a gallon of fuel to 40 or would that be 50;1 and see how much oil they use. Also when you saw the plug he pulled and the carb was dry, and the motor tried to run on oil means the oiler was working.

We even did a kit to run a fuel line to the oil tank and hook it into the reserve side of the fuel petcock. It gave them almost a full gallon of reserve capacity. We had nothing but problems with the oil injection.
