I feel like a slug everytime I watch your videos!! Lol! Your property is beautiful. Now i want to go buy another house with a big backyard so I can plant flowers and vegtables. My first house when my husband was alive we had almost had an acre of land and a huge vegtable garden which was his pride & joy. We would can at least 75 quarts of tomatoes every year plus various types of veggies that we either froze or canned. Now I plant one or two tomato plants in pots as i live in a townhome with a small patio. Your videos give me great joy when I see them. Take care of yourself and don't overdue.

Could you do a series next year where you show us some seeds you plant and then make an arrangement with those things in the summer or fall? I'd love to make decorations or arrangements like you do but I always feel like I don't know what to plant to make an arrangement with! It would be so fun to follow along with you as you grow and harvest and make an arrangement!

I just rewatched this in July 2023 snd SO appreciate that it popped up in my feed today. After a big move, I’ve been discouraged that I don’t have my normal flower garden going. You’ve given me the encouragement to get those seeds in the ground!
I watched gardening vlogs from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and Virginia and was tickled to see the women quoting you. Your information is top notch but your presentation with such a sunny disposition is a real blessing to millions! Thank you for caring and sharing.

Zone 7b here. I sowed marigolds at the end of July and the flowers lasted into early December. I remember looking at my marigolds while planning Christmas gifts 😄 Signet and French were the longest lasting. African are more frost sensitive so they perished in late October. Bachelors Buttons are actually recommended to be sown in fall for a robust display of blooms in spring, better than blooms from spring-sown seeds. Their seedlings are very cold tolerant and can survive winter without protection.

Another Hi from Minnesota. We're zone 4b and first frost can come pretty early. This was a fun video to watch. It got me pondering about what I would plant if our growing season was longer. Right now it's been in the 90's with very high humidity - which makes it difficult to spend a lot of time in the garden. :0( I agree with Juliene. Take lots of breaks, Laura.

My grandsons will probably stay with homeschooling, one is immune compromised and it’s just too risky...we’re awaiting covid19 test results right now because he was exposed inside the hospital! I also turn to gardening, i gardened all day when he was rushed into surgery 2 weeks ago, and about to go out now....stay safe.

I sowed calendula seeds in October in a pot near my front door. They obligingly bloomed all winter, providing a cheerful pop of color when everything else was brown. I am in North Texas. We do get frosts. It was fine even when we had a few days in a row in the low 20s. Highly recommend!

So, I did it. I bought the boxed seeds from Dollar General. Zinnia, Alyssum, Wild Flower (shade area) and Impatients. The Zinnias are taking off! I bought them to fill in my bulb flower bed and learning that not all bulbs sold in spring/summer are summer blooming. Needless to say, the Anemone & Echinacea didn't work out! :) I'm so excited to see the Zinnias bloom though. I'm a beginner and I'm totally inspired by your videos! Thanks for sharing all you do. Hi Laura! Thank you so much for your amazing channel, all your knowledge, and your infectious positive attitude! I've enjoyed casual flower gardening for years and you have taught me so much more this season, especially improved plant identification skills and a stronger botanical vocabulary -- you're the best! It has been such a joy this season getting more serious about gardening and I have you to thank for so many great pieces of advice and countless points of inspiration. My garden and I so appreciate it! :) I'm in zone 4B. I have some Heavenly Blue Morning Glories that I'm growing for the first time this season, from greenhouse plants. The vines are all looking amazing and have taken over the trellis. However, I only had a couple of blooms about a month ago and then nothing more since. I've now read that fertilizing them will stop the Morning Glories from blooming. I did fertilize mine earlier in the season but have since stopped adding it. Is there any chance of getting them to flower again? Thanks for any advice you may have and CONGRATS on your new baby! :)

Sounds like something beautiful to look forward to come fall. I wish you great success with all your new flowers 💐. I think I have learned that it’s okay to plant flowers throughout the spring and summer as the season changes. Typically I buy a couple of flats worth of plants, go crazy and done in one day. I believe your method is therapeutic and allows a person to enjoy the process all season long. Blessings to you and your family

Girl this is just what I needed!! How do you always seem to post the exact things I need and things I never thought about!! I am a newbie gardener and would love to know, or see in a video, how/when to thin the plants when it is time!! Congrats on your newest seedling!

I just planted some seeds I found in my stash in some containers that were freed up when I moved those Hibiscus babies into the ground, was wondering if it was too late (but figured oh well, couldn't hurt to try lol) and glad to know it isn't! My garden's never looked better this year and it's all because of your inspiration Laura - THANK YOU!!

I planted the Tithonia, Mexican sunflower last year. They were beautiful!
Four to five feet tall. The bees, butterflies and hummingbirds love them. Monarch butterflies swarmed all over them.
I planted them again this year.
Very satisfying flower! Beautiful in arrangements.
    Enjoy.
