The detail makes a huge difference to a layout, thankfully I haven't come to the fiddly bits but I'm close to it. Great vid mate really helped me to decide what to detail
Worked on the S&T dept for 30 years now, like the idea of the shrink wrap, all our real cables to the point machines are black, we used to use orange pipes under the rail, but we clip the cables to the sleepers now or use hollow bearers(sleepers) good work station coming together 👍
fabulous detailing!! particularly like the platform numbers on the posts and the electronic signs...the scalemodel scenery stuff is quality..i put the youtube map on that bachmann board too !..great minds..lol...it all brings the station to life ......great stuff cheers dave
Hi Richard, its James here from Sealand Central. I just wanted to let you know that due to difficulty with the previous channel, I have created this new channel. however, this does not impact the construction of the layout, also, love the detail! 😁 James, Sealand Central
The station is really coming together now - awesome work! The detailing of my platform is one of the next jobs on my list, so this is a perfectly timed video! I agree with you about the Bachmann information sign. I picked one up and was disappointed it was one-sided. Luckily for me, I'll put it close to a wall so the back wont show! Great idea with customising it though!
Station details are looking really good. I have the Scalescenes monitor kit and seems really good. I'm with you on the Bachmann detail pieces - they have some really nice things like ticket booths and vending machines, but seem really pricey for what you get. As with other some other comments, could you look at some of the removeable glue dots to fix the detail pieces to the platform rather than the bases you have been using? They'd blend right in and shouldn't then leave any lasting damage if you wanted to move them. Iain
For the station name signs you could glue some stiff wire into the bottom of the U channel and then just drill two small holes into the platform to slot the wire into... just a thought? You could do the same for some of the others with a steady hand and a small drill bit too.
For all your sings and boards u could use double sided tape which allows you to pull them up without damaging the platform tops. I use it for all my figures and it works v well. Just an idea. U don't need to use it but if u like it give it a go. Great vid mate keep up the great work. Ollie
Hi Richard this looks superb. I like to snip off those little pins on the points that stick up( they for surface mount solenoids...?) as I think after all that work they give the game away and spoil it a little. Get your snips out!👍
Looking good mate but your colours are the wrong way around on the point motor wiring. Its black cables and orange covers. Still, always good to see these details added. Going to be a spectacular model when completed.
@@NewJunction rule one always applies mate. To be honest, your eay makes perfect sense really. Much easier to see lineside cables if they're a warning colour rather than black.
@@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller My layout is now set in the future after Network rail have watched my video and applied my idea..... any excuse for errors aha
Looking good and it might just be me but arnt you avoiding the biggest part of the station which will make it feel very real and that is the roof. Its going to be removable so doing it now wont matter to getting to the detail Im looking forward to seeing it
Just a thought for you Richard, Has the sign stands out so much why not put a flower box at the bottom, You could even make two or three & have different flowers in them for different times of the year, Just a thought,
All you need no we are a few Porter's with baggage And empty and full carts with baggage. Don't forget the modern artsy touch or maybe a small kiosk selling newspapers and magazines. Maybe a help box for emergencies or even a Dr. Who call box. The Devil is in the Details . Have fun and carry on.

Great!
Looks good pal! Really coming together now with all the detailing!
Joe
The station is coming on really well with those extra details but the passengers are still getting wet in the rain without the roof 😃 Nice video 👍
Liking the lineside details and station signage . Cheers Matt

Brilliant video richard looks great cant wait todo my station area
Looking fantastic amazing what little touches does to a scene
Nice work richard. Small little details really can transform a scene.
Excellent detail Richard. Will be busy on my station this weekend....I'm coming after you now ;)
I'm sure you started before me lol
I started long before you Richard. But I’m back and this time it’s personal 😂
Great video Richard 👍
Thanks James!
Some brilliant ideas there
Coming along nicely
It`s little signs etc. that help add realism to a layout....Congratulations. Cheers Greg from Australia
Thanks Greg!
I reckon that looks pretty darn fantastic.
Thanks Alex!
Great vid Richard I am going to use most of them on my layout thanks for the tips
Really starting too look the part now cant wait to see it finished
Ditto!
@@NewJunction it's all about the smaller details
Great update, Richard.
Cheers!
Nice work you are doing there , sign is great ..dave
hi great video are those metcalfe platforms ?
Hi, no there's ply wood wrapped in Scale model scenery paper covers. If you go back through my videos it's well documented. :-D
Lots of great tips.......John.
I also have a LAYOUT CALLED YORDSLEY CENTRAL ON THE MERSEYSIDE AND YOU HAVE GIVEN ME INSPERATION
Looking good. Instead of making flat stands for your platform signs though, have you thought about a planter with some flowers in perhaps?
Yes :)

Proberbly would work really well to be fair.
Looks good!
I like the track detail, what size wire would you suggest for N gauge?
Perhaps a better question would be - how big is this stuff (diameter) in real-life?
All sizes, the 0.5mm would be fine for N gauge. :)
Looks really good, the cables at my signal box are black with orange protective pipe under the track

I still manually flick my points, they're quite useful for my fat fingers lol
Ah, say no more. Fair point mate!
Looking good👍🏻
Thanks!
Boom bang on 10am again! Break time 😁
Ha!, Enjoy :D
Awesome video! Wondering where you downloaded the font from? TIA :D
It's on the Railway forum RMweb
Awww really!! I got the notification for the video right as the bell for class went!! Great video however!
well done looking good
Which glue did you use on the wire into the points motors?
The Deluxe models stuff
Whats ur opinion on hornby tts sound
Think it's great, there are a good chips & bad chips like everything but for the money you can't go wrong.
@@NewJunction wich would you say r the good ones?
@@danieleveritt4086 personal preference really, have a watch of some on TH-cam and see if you like the sound.

As I said in the video, using a bit of modellers licence I've switched it so I can see it better lol

Tell me about it! can't find any!
New Junction I do know there is bachmann 150s and Hornby 156s and 142s
Lovely
