  • Today, you will see 2 alternative methods to finish a V neckline on a knit garment. One is for lightweight knit fabrics and the other is for medium to heavyweight knits. I have not featured these techniques on my channel before.
    The Claudia dress from Sinclair patterns has these 2 options, and it’s great because we can use a huge variety of knit fabrics.
    I am sharing 2 knit easy to sew dresses, one with rayon spandex with a FAUX V neckband and one in athletic knit with a facing finish. See all the sewing! Plus, how to insert the cool side panels (Godets) that this dress features.

    The dark panels on the sides do give the illusion of a nice hour glass figure. And we can all use that. Very nice.

    Love the easy V neck, I always do round so I don't have to attempt V's. You don't need to thread a needle though, if you gently pull the needle side cotton it will lift the other thread through (like the needle thread lifts the bobbin thread through) learned on my mother's ancient 'no reverse' but beautiful black and gold Singer

    I downloaded this and as I traced it out while watching you I realized I need to lengthen this as I am 5’11” and I want it below my knee. I am perplexed where to lengthen. Above the panel? At the bottom? Under the arms( then how to lengthen the panel? ) I will do a practice one for sure.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Add 1” above the curve of the front and back and it won’t affect the panel. You can Add the rest at the hem :)

    Hi Karina, I'm fairly new to sewing and after watching you for awhile and looking at some independent patterns, something has occurred to me that I'm very puzzled about. No one I know sews, so I need to ask you. I noticed patterns come in petite, misses, tall and plus. I've heard you and others saying that pattern makers design for a certain height. I have been going for plus size patterns cause I weight 80 kg. But I am only 4" 11 in height. I presumed petite patterns were for very small body's. But are petite patterns also for very short people. So should I go for larger size in petite patterns for my short height. I'm a bit confused. I do have great difficulty with the plus size patterns. So I don't know now. Are you able to help with this, please. Cheers and thanks Ros

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Petite only refers to height and not to sizes. You if you are 4ft 11”, you are petite in height no matter what the size. Have a look at this video where I talk about height adjustments th-cam.com/video/ygNl_jmQo8g/w-d-xo.html

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s stronger. Cotton thread tends to pop more. I don’t mention brands… I don’t advertise for thread brands and use local Brazilian supplies.
