It's quite amazing how much work is actually put into the wheels. When the fingerboard is bought, it's probably misused, or should I say over used and we don't really think about the effort that has gone into the making. We only think that it looks good. But now I think different
i never use glue, if you make the holes with the right size the bearing will just stick tight against the interior surface of the wheel. The material is teflon, it's hard but not the hardest. It's good for testings!
i use plastic rods, i little research and you will find them ;) For those wondering how i made the counterbore, it is made using 2 drills: a 2.5mm drill for the smaller hole (the one that goes through the truck axle) and a 4mm drill for the bearing hole. That part is not clear in the video sorry for that.
Teflon, urethane, metal, any of those would work. In this video it's Teflon. Where you can get it: Your going to need to do some research and get some prices and figure that out on your own.
I will start again soon the production of wheels, i don't expect to open a company/brand and i also don't want to sell them because i feel they are still not a perfect product. This video is just a way of doing the wheels using a lathe, not the bearings (those you have to buy some where else!). I will publish a new video early 2011. Thanks for your interest!
Thanks, this video is great, we make wheels, it will with bearings too, and metal versions will with colors red blue green orange yellow maby pink. It will in my shop, Wheels are Shield wheels
You can get urethane rods from a plastics shop. About the lathe, you can find the best prices doing a quick search for 'mini-lathes'. There are several models, from several brands and the quality and precison varies, so get different opinions and make sure it's the right thing because it's an expansive machine (mine was a bit over 500€). Good luck with your projects.
yeah but sawing off a small piece is too fragile to do one small tube could break easily. it's best to have some back support on the stuff you are making
hi guys, the machine is a Quantum (german brand) lathe model. Search for an importer in your country ;) As i said before, i use 2 drills to make the counterbore thing. Also, i use bearings not metal cores. Thanks, feel free to make suggestions.
@Twery1 boas, ainda não estou a vender pois ainda não consegui um produto consistente e de qualidade. Com o tempo espero conseguir e aí então procurarei fazê-lo ;)
it's a dish washer modified for fingerboard wheels mass production... please read the description! I get bearings from a miniature bearings supplier in UK. Make your own research, you will extract great benefit from that ;)
