I use two pressure filters running in parallel feeding a one meter, three tier Bakki shower for my 1000 gallon koi pond. The water parameters are all good and the koi are healthy and growing fast. I agree that cleaning the pressure filters is a pain but as long as they are cleaned regularly then I have no problems. I used to run the pond with just the pressure filters but now use them as mechanical filters for the Bakki shower. This made a huge difference to maintaining the water quality.

Nice video Ad, and well explained it seemed to be doing a job. They are still a pain though to clean unlike an upflow or nexus you can't see how dirty they get. Nice one mate.💯👍👍👍👍

I think if you strip down and thoroughly clean once a month there fine. People don't keep them clean which then causes problems. Good upload 👍

ive always used a pressure filter i run a 50-000 ltr one on a 6500ltr pond i spin clean twice a week and strip it down weekly , takes half hour my water is crystal clear with no nitrate amonia or nitrite issues just clean it more regular and theyre fine jason

I hated the one I used to have. Such a pain in the butt to keep clean. I only used it on the heater side of my system and admittedly it was an old version. Blagdon 6000 with a built in UV. The upflows do such a better job and 1000% easier to clean. I flush the upflows every 3 to 4 days which keeps everything in top shape and also helps with the water changes in the pond.

I use one as a pre filter to a shower, flush it most days and clean out once a month, is OK for my little pond.

To be fair I think it was just the model I had. It only scraped down the edges of the sponges during a clean rather than compress the sponges

Until you get an Oase Filtoclear. They are expensive but completely squeeze the sponges inside. Bio is rubbish in a pressure filter. I would remove it if I was you.

That wasn't too bad at all. The pressure filter I had in the fry tank was full of slime every two days .
They can work you just need to keep on top of them 👍

You could pump those cleaning handles 1000 times instead of 50 when you are cleaning and they will still never get the sponges as clean as taking them out and cleaning them by hand. The scraper mechanism connected to the cleaning shafts simply scrapes any debris from the outer edge of the sponges but can't get to the debris that makes its way deep into the sponge. Any debris/sediment that remains in the filter is technically still in your water column although not physically in the pond. Keep doing the hand cleaning, I would suggest weekly. Certainly more work but the only way to get the filter truly clean. Cheers.

Saying it's a death can because it retains all the crud grim your pond. That's it's function, all filters sole purpose is to hold on to the crap so it's not in suspension in your pond water.
I don't understand how it doing it's job means you criticise it.
That's the same as being angry at your cars oil or air filter when it's collected all the chunks , that's it's job.

I think it depends on their use ! As the only filter for a pond definitely a death can but as a pre filter for a multibay or shower there actually quite useful. Have you changed the UV bulb and do you know if it's still working ? I would take all the alfagrog out to make it easier to clean and I'd clean it manually each time in tap water to kill all the bacteria good and bad as the shower should be doing the job of filtration of the ammonia and nitrite. 👍 I might put a brush coiled up in the bottom like Leon did on budget pond keeping and Invest in some better sponges for the top of your shower but keep the green fine sponge to put between the medium and fine of the new sponge's and you could always add floss below the finest of the two fine sponge's probably the blue one of the better sponge set. Anyway great video as always keep them coming 👍😀

Had a 50000 on a 25k litre pond worked well for a few years .. I gave it a full breakdown and clean and all the bio media in the outer chamber was totally clogged up so a full breakdown clean is needed every so often

I personally dont rate presure filters buddy, there ok if you strip them and clean them regularly like you would with a canister filter on a fish tank (once a week) but other then that i think they harbour bad bacteria, the aim of a fiter is to take the waste out not hold it in the bottom and then filter water through it lol, like i say thats my opinion anywayz, i do know a few people that sware by them mind 👍🐟⛩
