    I actually prefer the Chevrolet Camaro over the Ford Mustang and trust me, I am not the only one. There are so many on the road, that you probably will see at least 10 a day in your neighborhood.

      Fair enough, aperxmim. We won't hold that against you. LOL In all honestly, all of these cars are wonderful for what they are. None are perfect, but when the pros outweigh the cons on each of our lists, that's all that matters. Thanks for watching!

    Yet another great job Chris! I seriously can't choose between the Mustang and the Camaro knowing I would have to keep it for a long while. I like the interiors of the Camaros, while the exterior styling of the Mustang is more my taste. The engines are a wash for me though...which has better low end torque and midrange? I know the upper power range is all Mustang though, but I guess effortless get up and go from the stoplight is more important on the street. I'm not skilled enough to take either car anywhere near their limits. Notice I haven't mentioned the Challenger in all this until now...

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the Challenger was never on my list in the past, The_Notorious_9, but it's actually the most comfortable and powerful (depending upon trim) out of them all. At the end of the day, it all really comes down to personal preference. GM has the better suspension and Ford makes the best noises, unfortunately even if you don't want to hear them (Quiet Mode isn't THAT quiet). Dodge is actually the best package for 40+ year olds, but it's bigger and a little more antiquated than the other two. The power of the GT feels best, until you get to 392 or Hellcat levels, then Dodge takes it all. Thanks for watching!

  • @TheShiftKnob
    @TheShiftKnob ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First of all, I’d like to give you a thumbs up for trying to not being biased as a Ford guy. That’s sometimes kind of hard when reviewing or commenting on other manufacturer’s products that could or do interfere with your own preferences (Chevrolet and Dodge guys alike).
    Concerning me, I’m neither a Ford nor a Mopar nor a GM guy in particular even though I may tend to give it to the Camaro in the end. Whenever I’ll be able to afford it I’d end up buying a true V8 with no less than 5 litres of displacement - the more the better, the best as N/A with a manual.
    Concerning “the big 3”, the Challenger needs to be a Hellcat Redeye Widebody for me - even though not coming N/A and having an automatic transmission. It just fits its character as the only true HEMI muscle powerhouse left - would do some improvements of the chassis though to make it a more stiffer and sportier ride for our German Autobahnen. The Mustang is the pony itself with the most modern technical engine base, but Ford’s just taking it from the living here - the price points don’t reflect the real value (Mach1 in particular), the Shelby GT500 as an exception. So no deal here. The Camaro is a very balanced sports muscle car with an unbeatable price tag. Maybe a little too traditional or old in its engine base but its reliability and output are phenomenal.
    So thank you for your review. Being interested in cars like these with big V8s and doing my own research, I’ve come to appreciate the different approaches Chevrolet/Dodge/Ford have taken to perform like they do. In the end, they’re providing wonderful unique offers so everyone can find his or her satisfaction.
    P.S.: Actually, I'd like to add some words...concerning the Mustang - I'm really enticed by its rumble, its character and the atmosphere it creates. Things that aren’t mathematical facts but for a car like this nevertheless priceless. It’s just that Ford’s price points really suck these days - in a similar spec the Mach1 comes about $12k+ (USD) more than the 2SS 1LE.

    Chris you did it again. Great review from a Blue Oval to red Bow Tie. Having driven them all, I still prefer the ease of the Camaro. I'll never own a new one because they depreitiate to fast. But the 6.2 LT1 is the value play. Straight line take the Stang, gotta carve a curve, it's Camaro, it's close either way. Thanks for an honest review. After checking out both the new Challenger and Camaro for the first time in person, I'm a Camaro guy. It's the most sporty, both looks and function wise, and the most aesthetic over all I feel. Challenger would be the next best looking (even though by not much and really do like they way Challenger looks especially the widebody!) but it is just too big and the interior is no where as good as the Camaro. And finally, never liked the Mustang after the redid the looks for 6th gen.

    Great review, best part of this car is its fundamentals. Engine and transmission and chassis and handling and ride and brakes. The hard parts. Otherwise, that body which is sexy is so not practical that they don’t even sell as many of these as Challengers. I wish they would redesign it so humans can fit in back for short time, and sight lines are better than a tank’s. When did they go to single outlet tailpipes on each side? I thought it was dual exhaust in each side for total of four, or I should say dual outlets on each side. It’s as though Chevy forgot about its pony car. Too sad.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a tough segment, Paul M, because we have to assume development for these pony cars (well, at least the Fords and Chevys) isn't as cheap as it used to be back in the day. Yet, they can't charge 60 or 70 grand for them like the Corvette. Dodge is selling Challengers with brute force, and while more comfortable, they are less refined than the Mustang and Camaro. Love your takes on the Camaro's sightlines. LOL That about sums it up. And we think the only Camaros with the quad exhaust tips are the ZL1s. You gotta earn those extra tips in Chevy-land. They aren't just handed out to anybody. LOL Thanks for sharing and for watching!

      npp exhaust is an option. quad tips with the ability to go from stealth mode ( quiet) to track mode ( straight pipe.) and two modes in between. modes of suspension and exhaust can be changed per driving modes or set via vehicle setting. a must have option in my opinion. I ordered a 2021 2ss convertible with magnetic ride and dual mode exhaust August 3rd, and received the car in late October. my friend has a 2020 mustang with the p1 package. the cars are damn near identical in my opinion. mines quicker due to being the a10 transmission.

    Great review on the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro 2 SS. I have a 2021 Camaro 2SS. The car doesn’t disappoint it’s 455 hp and 455 foot pounds of torque. 0 to 60 and 3.5 seconds. but what can you expect when you have a Corvette engine 6.2 L upfront. 6000 miles on the car and simply guys and girls I’m loving it. It’s a real head turner as I get a lot of luxe and questions from guys and girls at the Camaro car shows. Sorry to hear the Camaro is going away in 2024. I believe GM is already producing a seventh generation Camaro they’re not saying much but I’ve seen concept pictures of what the Camaro will be in the future if GM decides to build it it looks like a mid engine design but I don’t know if GM plans to build a car with a gasoline engine or a electric engine but the way it looks it looks like a Corvette and if they do make a new Camaro to look that way I believe it’ll blow the doors off any Ford Mustang or Dodge Challenger. Thanks again for the nice review have a blessed day everyone. Cruiser.

    Yeah Ford all day when it comes to horsepower...only the Vette ZL1 would pull me away for a short period.

      Yeah, baby. The Camaro ZL1 is a beast. Sure would be nice if Chevy sent us one of those. LOL And I'd surely take the new Vette over any of these "lesser" cars. As always, thanks for watching, bbrownasu!

    Chris, leave it to you to not let your personal bias affect your review. This Chevy guy thinks that you were quite balanced. I'm far too old to let my taste cause me to be a "fanboy". Live and let live. LOL.

      LOL There's no time to be a fanboy, Ron LHeureux. Life is too short and there are too many great cars to drive. None of them are perfect, but when you find one with more pros than cons on your list, the rest is easy. And fun. As always, thanks for watching!

    You talk about the backseat are you serious, the Mustang backspace isn't any bigger. What are you talking about dude..

      Chris mentioned that the Mustang's backseat isn't great, either, but he's never hit his head on the headliner of a current-gen Mustang, which is the point he was making. Guess you missed that, DejaVu 32.

    The lack of visibility is deal breaker for me and infotainment graphics look dated. The new Corvette is cool, tho, but other than that Ford Mustang is way better as far as coupes go.

      The visibility isn't an issue at all really. You get used to it real quick, just position your mirrors correctly and you're good to go.

      Visibility is the biggest issue, Eric Hampton. You do get used to it, but it's an issue. The C8 Corvette has the same issues (possibly worse?), but I'd still buy one of those in a heartbeat. LOL GM's infotainment system works fairly well across the board so I wouldn't let that deter me. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
