    I have option 15 on my Premium which gives blind spot detection and power lift gate which is worth the extra
    $1,300. Yes, the snowflake wheels are hideous but will soon get some aftermarket wheels to solve that problem. This is my first Subaru and this thing in the snow is amazing! I was able to out manuever a 4wd Jeep and another 4wd suv this past weekend in about 10" of fresh powder snow! I was amazed at the handling and ease of slicing through the snow. Not once did the Forester slip or lose traction. It was the best snow driving experience!

      @@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Thanks man. My very first Forester was a 2001 a few years ago, which I overhauled its motor due to a head gasket failure. I fell in love with the brand then. Then I bought an ‘05 OBXT and did something similar to it. And needless to say, this Forester now feels awesome, it honestly needs a bit more power but it’ll be great for good gas mileage. I wish Subaru would incorporate the turbo for it like the XT motor in the Outback. I bet my bottom dollar it’d sell real good. Great car nonetheless!

    One year update…16K miles and have taken my Forester off road about 8 times and it handles like a champ! Soft sand is no problem either. Xmode is amazing for steep downhill on rocky terrain as you focus on steering and not riding the brakes! I got some air down plugs with two compressors to air back up. I also added an Orion 10” sub and Orion amp to the factory sound system and it is a world of difference having some bass! Makes all music sound better! A bit of rattling on back hatch but will look at that soon to see how I can make less rattling. Still loving my Forester!!! Rotating tires every 6k and synthetic oil changes every 5k. I use Trip B to keep track of mileage needed for oil changes.

      That’s an awesome update! I drove a 24 Limited Forester today (video will be up in the next week or two) and they’re always such a job to drive. As far as the sub I’m sure you’ll find a good option or could add some insulation under the factory interior materials. My brother use to do that with his various cars that he had put a 10”- 2x 12” system into, lol. Best of luck!

      Lastly, I tinted the windshield at 50% and it has not affected iSight or any of my safety features. There were articles saying Subaru would need to adjust iSight cameras and it would cost $500+ for dealer to make adjustments. I took a chance tinting windshield with no dealer adjustments and everything works fine so far. That stock windshield is huge and way too bright!!!

    I actually wanted the 2023 Forester Premium when doing my research but no dealer near me had one with the options I wanted (option package 15), so I went with the Limited trim. So far I love it! I’ve had it about 3-1/2 months so far. I commented on this channel’s review of the 2023 Forester Limited also, but long story short, I was in an accident (not my fault) and my car was deemed totaled by the insurance company. It was a 2016 Impreza wagon, and I decided I wanted something a little bigger which is why I went with the Forester

    Im debating between the Forester Premium (cystal white) or Crosstrek base (cool gray). Which do you recommend? It would be my first car, male 23 year old. Will be mostly daily commute to work etc. But I am an outdoorsy guy who will want to use it often for roadtrips (campgrounds, ski resorts, etc), visiting nearby cities. Im only considering the Crosstrek base because atm its the only one local dealerships have (not the premium). The price difference between the two is decent enough to save ~$50-100/month (for 72 months), but not terrible. Would you say the extra cost for some of the features + extra space is worth it? Or does someone like me (someone without a family) really need the extra features and space, or other benefits? Ive been thinking about it here and there for weeks and cant decide!!!

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those are both great options and I don’t think you can go wrong either way! I do need to say I’m not a fan of getting into much debt over a vehicle, but I am a fan of driving a safe vehicle. I think the Forester is the better vehicle which the price tag reflects that. It’s decently larger, has a higher safety rating, typically accelerates a little bit faster than the 2.0 Crosstrek, and has those incredible LED headlights standard. You’re less likely to out grow the forester and want something else down the road, especially with the heated seats and moon roof you’ll likely feel like you’re getting more for your money. Best of luck in whichever you decide! 🙂

    • @ChrisParkpartybus
      @ChrisParkpartybus ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AutomotiveAnonymous208 true! not a fan over debt either but I am getting my car while I am between jobs, so I need the smaller payment at first. I will def try to pay it off earlier if possible down the road. Would you say with its safety rating and such, In terms of long term ownership cost both the forester and crosstrek are the same (including things like insurance)? Thanks for the info, will be car shopping today!

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Operation costs should be about the same with either, I would assume as well with your insurance. You can always check what rates would be before buying the vehicle. My Subaru insurance is cheap for the cost of the vehicle IMO. I think both are incredibly safe, but if that was the biggest priority I would pick Forester, it’s rated better and physically larger. Those LEDs are likely twice as good as the crosstrek halogens at night. After having the LEDs on my Outback, I would never go back. Best of luck in your decisions!

    2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness or Outback Wilderness? Which is better in your opinion?

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There really is no wrong option, they’re both so good. With that said I’ve owned my OBW since 9/21 with zero real issues and have enjoyed driving it and depending on it everyday! I personally couldn’t consider the Forester unless it gets a turbo. Where I live at elevation and enjoy performance in general the turbo on the Outback was the big selling point for me, the fact that it’s a wagon also earns cool points in my book. If you don’t need or enjoy the performance, go Forester! Being a little bit lighter, shorter, and even better visibility makes it an incredible daily driver. If it had a turbo, I would have gotten it instead. With that said, go drive them both, and know you can’t pick wrong lol. Thanks for watching! 🙂

    • @Bluegreenred
      @Bluegreenred ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Awesome long answer, but why Outback turbo the MPG on the turbo is not good? Gas version is much better MPG.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว

      When I bought the turbo gas prices weren’t bad, similar to what they’ve recovered to these last couple months. To me paying a few dollars more a month was worth the pleasure of having and knowing I have much more useable low RPM power. 🤷‍♂️😉 Now if gas stayed at 5.50 a gallon and not 3.30 ish where I’m at, then I would likely consider something else all together.

    Can the "L" "gear" be used for engine breaking?

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend double checking the manual. When I use the paddles to down shift for engine braking I personally don’t go below 3rd simulated gear and try to not exceed 4K RPM on my turbo engine. If I had a naturally aspirated engine I would likely go dower gear and let it rev higher. I use to do that in my Crosstrek on off ramps and never experienced a problem. Although I will say such a small engine doesn’t help a lot compared to engine braking a big displacement engine. 🙂
