One day we are gonna recover our holy Cathedral Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, greetings from Greece brothers ☦
As a Byzantine Catholic, I pray that the holy cathedral of the Hagia Sophia will be retrieved from the scourge of Islam and the Divine Liturgy will resound in it once again.
Respectfully; the Hagia Sophia is merely real estate.
All of creation is the Lord's 'Hagia Sophia'
If not in this life then for sure in the great beyond.
I love that Christ's resurrection is kept central in the Orthodox faith and that they celebrate it every day.
I was very impressed by the cantor that not only did he managed to chant in English to Greek chant, tricky enough, but every word was clear. And I always approve of a bishop preaching without notes holding his pastoral staff. Thank you very much.
God bless this wonderful cathedral, and all the clergy, chanters and others who make these beautiful livestreams/. videos possible. 🕯️🕯️🕯️🙏🌹
Truly He is risen! Thank you!
He has rises indeed
The chanting is musical and not monotone! How wonderful. Seems more heavenly.
💙🇬🇷☦️. All these livestreams and recordings are very greatly appreciated. Love this beautiful and impressive cathedral. (Xristos anesti. Alithos anesti. )
Truly He is risen!!!
oh wow ive heard of this kind of service in catholicism but havent seen it like this in orthodox church yet till now. the priest usually faces the altar throughout most of the service. pretty interesting, its supposed to be for focusing more on God. cool stuff.
Quien como Dios Entre Nosotros 🙏
So beautiful thank you!
Amen.
Glory to God!
Beautiful
The chanting is lovely. Who is chanting?
Amen
🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
As a Catholic, I think this is so cool. Very mysterious. I still like Gregorian chant better but sadly chanting doesn't make it into our Catholic parishes like it should.
💕🙏📿🛐
Any chance someone can add chapters/subtitles/something denoting and explaining each part of this for non-orthodox people like me? This is beautiful but my Protestant self has little to no idea what some of the parts are or are for.
Hello dear friend!

@@NikosK153 God bless you so helpful!
@@torix316 Happy to help. Don’t hesitate to ask whatever u want tho
@@NikosK153I know this is an old video but do you have any of the names of the chants/hyms (forgive me if I’m not calling them by their correct names) that are being said in the first 20 or so minutes? I would like to read their lyrics (again not sure if that’s the right term).
I do want to learn more about orthodox but I didn’t have a clue what was going on here
So it is a lot! That’s for sure!
This is our church service/mass
It contains a lot of praying and preparing ourselves and the area for communion which we believe is the body and blood of Christ
You’ll see them bring the big book out a few times that holds the Holy Bible which is why it has a special procession
The other procession is for the communion
Think of it as similar to a catholic mass lots of up and down standing kneeling and praying
I would definitely recommend going to a service at your local parish (church) and speaking to the priest or assistant priest after so they can explain better! There are also a ton of videos explaining what’s happening during the liturgy (service) you can look for as well!
When you start attending the Liturgies it all becomes clear. It looks confusing at first, but it doesn't take that long to become acquainted with the proceedings. Look up St John Chrysostom Divine Liturgy and that is what we follow 🙏🏻☦️🤗

Don’t know how far in you are now but go to your local church and ask your priest they will be able to explain better than anyone else and will be happy to
Where are the people?
I would presume Covid restrictions in the UK limited how many of the laity could be present.

I thought this church was turned into a museum. ?.?
That’s the Aghia Sophia in Istanbul. It is much larger and older. This is the Aghia Sophia Cathedral in London. Beautiful and well used
I have attended to Divine Liturgy here when I used to live in London.
41:28 Anaphora
Английский вроде знаю, но понять о чем о ни тут молятся не могу. Ни единого слова знакомого(((
Apparently you know English at such a level that your TH-cam comments are automatically translated into Russian.
In any case the epiphony "Lord have mercy" / "Kirie eleison" is repeated countless times, throughout the Liturgy.
Not to mention the "Glory is to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit for now and forever and to the ages of ages" and the commons Alleluias and Amens.
I’m not getting anything out of this. At least a Protestant service has a message I can understand. I don’t see how chanting can teach me, uplift me or make me a better man.
when you know the history of the Christianity, and understand the events of the Liturgy you will truly realise all that has been lost in the West.
Sermons were not the most important part of services when Christianity originally started. The main purpose of the service is to worship God and hear the writings of the epistles and Gospels. Sometimes, sermons are given, but it was not the main focus of the gathering for ancient Christianity, and thus Orthodox Christianity today.
The liturgy is not about you, its not about what message can you get out of it, its about giving glory to God.
I am a Lutheran and I love this liturgy. Most protestants don't undrestand the the meaning and beauty of the divine liturgy because they are orientated to worship as human centered rather than God centered.
such a strange religion. so divorced from what divinity is to me. Love the architecture!
Orthodoxy is not strange, it's the true Faith. You should look into it with an open mind. Love from Australia!
You mean denomination? Because Orthodoxy is not a religion is a denomination of Christiansity. What's strange to you??
Somging men wearing dresses with bells. how fun.
What are you yapping abou?
Ignorance is not a virtue. 😅
