    Thanks for the video. It is nice to see all that vintage equipment in action. We use to pick corn on our farm. We used the same picker, flight elevator and a 1949 John Deere A on the elevator.

    I had one just like it, with the big husking bed. I pulled my with a 4020 diesel , and, it would really eat the corn. When i farmed 150 bushels were a pretty decent average, and, that corn never slowed that tractor and picker down.

    Good job kraz. The white throttled up all down the row till the last of the vidyuh. Course it don't hurt when pto isnt controlled so close. The last scene with the John Deere making the sound with another tractor pulling the wagon was a good one. I was looking for a John Deere implant motor until the last. Making all this old iron work for a living till you can't get parts. Sometimes nowadays a tractor 5 years old is still good but no parts. Wait until a diesel injection pump is needed and none to be found. Then you will have to call Chris losey.

    • @crazydave4455
      @crazydave4455  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The white 2-85 in this video got the injection pump rebuilt this last spring! Still no problem getting parts for the CAV pumps on a Perkins, however parts for an America Bosch PSB pump is a problem, they came on the earlier waukesha diesels. Thanks for watching.

    • @crazydave4455

      Aaric Hale it seems the most common pickers are the new ideas, we had an Oliver picker mounted on a Row Crop 77 (the one running the dryer in corn harvest video) but pulled it off to utilize the tractor more than one month a year, plus the pull types are easier on the operator (dust) and safer. Glad you got a kick out of it! Love the old iron!

    I wonder how many millions of acres that brand of picker picked. Everybody had them didn't matter what brand of tractor they had most picked with new idea pickers. This was in the 60s and 70s. By 80s everybody switch to combining corn.

Good looking corn produced there. Nice to see your farm operation. I was as I was growing up raised on a mixed farm of arable, pigs and beef. Like yourself I like sharing skills and knowledge. i have had apprentices and young people work with me. To share some of my knowledge I have set up my own you tube channel. You should check out. • @crazydave4455

      Big Whane the gravity boxes vary in size slightly, average about 175 bushel ( with extensions) takes about 8 heaping loads.

    Great video ! Just a question.... why such a poor stand of corn ? So many skips. Anyway.... give it a try.....use a tractor with 1000 rpm capable...... run the engine speed half open. Something about the ration that changes everything ! I pick 250 bushel per acre corn with mine....moving at 4 miles per hour. Does a better job when things are full compared to half full. Just saying...

      This was 2019. Horribly wet, cold, late planting, late harvest. See 2020 here > th-cam.com/video/LMuUGHv8fy0/w-d-xo.html better stand. Only have 1 tractor with a 1000 PTO and it’s our biggest. Probably not going drop duals to pick 1 crib of corn 😁 but I’m sure it works fine.

    • @jamesharber7820
      @jamesharber7820 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      crazydave4455 The 15 hp of that unstyled B was more than enough power to turn a man’s leg/legs into ground round..an all too common occurrence in northern Indiana in the 1950’s. One of the few times OSHA earned it’s keep by requiring PTO safety shields. A neighbor man across the road from our farm was killed by his two row corn picker that he foolishly left running when attempting to unclog the snap rollers. Very sad! The husking rollers on our picker instantly removed one of my winter gloves from my hand one time when I thought I was “big enough” to not shut off the PTO. I NEVER pulled that trick again!

      @crazydave4455  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesharber7820 that old stuff is no joke. Here is a story from a few weeks back, of a guy who got extremely lucky. He got wrapped up in a non shielded PTO, stalled a small compact tractor running it and escaped with staples and broken ribs. th-cam.com/video/5hwoStF9beI/w-d-xo.html
