I have to say... of all the short game stuff I've watched online (this channel included), THIS video gave me immediate positive results on the course. I usually lost one to two strokes via a flubbed chip on muddy ground, etc. Hopefully this will no longer happen. Almost all my chips last round got within 10 feet, and that's huge for me.
Very good instruction and presentation. Distance control with the same length of swing can easily be achieved by varying the club but I guess it's a matter of personal preference and conditions of play.
Sure. You can also move up and down the grip too. This is the basic technique. There's a lot more information that wasn't shown. Pick your spot and land it there. Trajectory control, spin control, how to make it roll out a little further. Lots more missing and he didn't touch specialty shots. High lob, flop shot, low spinner, cut wedge, plenty missing.
Be better- great video and the common theme. So many instructors and so many concepts, all interesting and no clear mastery of any… on to biomechanics convention and the science of chipping.
I practice rotating back and through(waste to waste height) with a HEAVY object such as a medicine ball etc which really helps me stay connected and engages my bigger core muscles which minimizes wrist action and achieves this one piece (stricker type)shallow technique far easier. ps.. I've personally found that having a touch weight forward improves my contact on most of my chipping shots just don't over do the weight forward or shaft lean, I'm around 55front/45back(make sure it stays there from start to finish, it will probably be more at the finish in truth), but if you start 50/50 there is a tendency to fall back slightly on the downswing)just a tad!! I'm a plus 4
I've been struggling with chipping yips on and off for years now. Play links golf and we get really tight lies. I've been told so many times to shorten backswing but haven't really understood how. I would use my hands and arms a lot. Going to try this. Out of interest would you recommend this on a smaller scale for putting? Also why do Pro golfers stand with there feet close toghter chipping and wide apart putting? Surely if a wide stance keeps you more staple for putting it would keep your balance better for chipping as well.
@@raymckigney2118 I had normal to thickish rough. I'd say around 2" grass w/ ball sitting even or down a tad. Shot is 2 feet from the green, flag is 5' from the and edge and slightly downhill. Putting wasn't an option for me.
@@jonathanbloom7654 so just 7 feet. Probably LW since downhill, but avoid any speed or excessive delofting that’ll send it past. Short, half-speed motion - just enough to get it out of the lie.
Brendon thing is that alot of us could do what Parker is teaching here at the practice range, but when on course whether its a match or a friendly wager one chip goes wrong and the entire confidence goes out of the window. How to handle this aspect of practice?
Repetitions will give you confidence. Take away the flag and the hole. Pick a spot to land the ball and focus on that target. Once you gain the confidence to hit your spot, no more worries.
Repetitions until it's unconcious. Once you have the stroke working, then practice no two shots from the same place to simulate real golf. I got that idea from another short game coach for tour pros. I usually take two balls and play an 18 hole game where I putt everything out. You need to eventually get the brain off mechanics.
@@-Thunder yep. I play that 18 hole game as well, but I vary it. Sometimes 1 ball Sometimes 2, Sometimes 3. 1 ball 1 hole, 2 balls 2 different holes, etc. The best part is when you really start to challenge yourself to make it and not settle for just getting it close. It's a great place to be. Developing several different types of shots from the same lie and distance helps as well.
From a coach’s point of view, you will have to lose the ego and attain an egoless state - as at the start ,you clearly felt awkward hitting a poor shot! That’s why people go for lessons and is the purpose of lessons , lessons are the place to show where your game needs lessons!!
@@BEBETTERGOLF That can work if you have a fair amount of grass under the ball but a very dangerous shot for a tight lie. Very easy to blade the ball over the green. IMO striking the ball first works for all lies and results in more consistent distance control.
"weight 50/50...even a little more on the back foot"....just the opposite of "keep your weight forward, you should be able to chip with all your weight on your front foot!"
The absolute irony of this channel is that he offers NOTHING himself. He literally just hires these coaches, films the content and presents it. Amazing really... LOL
And I don’t think anyone would recommend going to see all these different teachers in order to get better. Has to be a million thoughts through the mind
You can contact me. I have only taught golf for over 30 years, and I actually have permission to teach at Angle Park. If Parker is such a great teacher, who gave him permission to teach at this facility. Highly unethical. BTW, you were performing a "pitch" not a "chip."
@@darrelltaylor1515 Golf is a game, first and foremost. Introduced from father to son, mother to daughter, and everything in between. It has history, mystique, magic and reverence. This is the best. I’ve bookmarked this and view almost weekly. 👍👍👍
These short game videos are great. Awesome content
Glad to hear it! Most people just want driver videos lol
this is one great lesson so simple and easy to understand thank you
8:51 shout-out to the big guy for that spectacular sunset!
This is very good, like others have said the pause really gets the correct motion in place.
Great stuff!! Thanks!!
It looks so easy. Does this technique work as well when the grass is a bit bare under the ball during a dry summer? More hard pan..
Outstanding Brandon. Parker is good.
8:45 That sunset!!!! Damn!!!!😍

Love the pause drill and body rotation! Will really help the timing of the chip!
Thanks BJ!

Nice B. Good work
The pause drill is gold!!!
Great video. I've been too forward in ball position.
Exactly what I needed to see!
I’ve go from a +3 handicap to 5 in 10 months, scared to play in comps because my short game is soo bad.
I can show you how to get to +32.
Brandon, have you gone to AMG and done a session with then? Love to see that for your swing.
Thanks for the tip, could you please offer some help on speed control with putting.
Was just working on this starting this week. I like being open to create some more tension in your turn to generate speed and keeping the arms dead.
Is there weight shifting like a normal swing? What happened to weight always on left. Great video
I got into a waaaaay to strong a position with my hands. Backing it off a bit helped everything, including my short game.

Pause drill is great. What did he say about practicing when it cuts off at the end?
What loft are you using?
Looking great
Thanks 🙏 Ned
When and how does he advocate using the bounce?

because chipping/pitching is a pivot motion (as discussed in the video), putting is not.
Would like to see someone help you with your technique. Understanding the correct application of loft would help fix your pitching and your swing.
Interesting video!! How do you make a shot that's 2 feet off the green (in the rough) downhill to a close flag?
Depends on the lie

As opposed to your outing with Berry, there was not a mention of shaft lean in this video. Thank you, Stephen

Wow that was a money lesson! Parker is Gold! 👍🇨🇦
same technique in 6 inches of bermuda rough by the green?
I love how distracted he got at 9:23!!
@5:00 start
That pause drill is money
My new fav!
Boy is it ever, sweet👊
Does the pause drill work through the bag or is just for short game?
These shots kill my game from 10 - 30 yards out.... shank alot of them, will try this.
Go Darrell go😊
That little Brendon dip. It always bleeds through no matter the technique/instructor.
Those chips are great.
Sounds like Parker is a fan of what Faldo calls the "professional chunk and run."
Question with those shots which wedge or iron should you use. Looks like a sand wedge. Obviously it’s distance where I have problems at. 30 yds out 50

Why did you cutout the instruction at the end???? Trying to BE BETTER here.
I'd love to be able to have a lesson with some of the best coaches in the world. Unfortunately I am not independently wealthy 😂😂
Please… 20min doing what? We need the practice routine 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yeah, was that a teaser to another video?
@9.20 "SQUIRREL!"
Why didn't the video finish about how to practice?????
Game changer…
Actually could not have been to good at it ... Only had one win on the tour . LOL
How does this work into the grain. I’m guessing the technique has to change otherwise……
This instruction seems to encourage a behind the ball strike. Don’t we want a bit of shaft lean, weight more on lead foot, and ball turf contact?
Parker wants to to hit turf first and slide into the ball. He calls it a professional drop kick.

Five percent more weight on the back foot? Wait what? 🤔
Great video but you know you would learn more if you did more listening and less talking. Peter has some nuggets there!
Many thanks for uploading this

Way too much talk by the “student”

Where does this cat teach?

Hmmm. Steering or "hitting" feel shots is like applying sunscreen with rubber gloves on. Just relax mate 😁
Leave in the question at the end then cut off the response.. wack
