What is Infernum mod?
Infernum mod is an extension mod for Calamity that adds an extra difficulty - "Infernum", that's harder than Death mode, with a primary focus on expansive reworking of boss AIs.
I'm sure y'all have many questions regarding this track, and I bet the main one is "Why did you make this? CDMusic aka Charlie is already making the official theme!". For that, allow me to tell you the story behind this track, and why it means so much to me.
It all began back in march, on a day where I was feeling particularly motivated. At the time, I was really obsessed with draedon's motif, and I really wanted to do something with it. So, after asking the calamity dev team to make sure that it's okay, I began working on my own version of the exo mechs theme, intending for it to be an alternate exo mechs theme in infernum mod.
No other calamity bosses will get this treatment in the future, so don't ask for them.
At the time, I decided to keep this project a secret from the infernum team, intending to surprise them by posting the completed work once it's done. Was it silly, and perhaps immature? Yeah, it was. But I just couldn't help myself, ya know?
I then poured my heart and soul into it for the next few days, really sure that this one will truly be my magnum opus aka best work of the year. For a while, it was my pride and joy. Unfortunately, after I managed to reach the 2 minutes mark with the track... awful stuff happened.
I won't go into details, but basically, my self-confidence took a massive dive. Same with my mental stability, to a lesser extent. It was so bad that I essentially lost all my passion for the track, as my insecurities started to set in. Suddenly, the prospect of people comparing my piece and Charlie's official one, and potentially mocking mine for being "worse" became really dreadful. Paranoid thoughts of people accusing me of trying to "one up Charlie" or "steal his spotlight" didn't help matters.
So, with a heavy heart, I abandoned the project and left it to collect dust. The next few miserable months flew by, and I had started to resign myself to the fact that I'll have to move on from it eventually. But a while ago, as I was sifting through at my unfinished projects, I stumbled upon it again. Thinking "why not?", I decided to post the WIP track for the infernum team to check out, not expecting much.
To my surprise, they really like it. They then encouraged me to finish it, as they'd love for the track to be officially implemented into infernum mod. So with some hesitation, I decided to give the track a try one last time. It was then that, as I was tweaking a few things about it and listening to it on repeat, I realized that my passion for the track was back and stronger than ever. Suddenly, all those insecurities and fears I had about the track during my rough patch didn't seem so bad anymore.
Mind made up, the day after that I was hell bent on completing the track, and went straight to doing so after lunch. I even got a bit emotional at some points, especially as I re-listened to the climax of the track over and over again to make sure that it's as great as I wanted it to be.
An over 5 hours marathon of a composing session later, and there's breaks don't worry, it was ready to go!
... Yes, I know that when the official exo mechs theme comes out, most people will likely flock to that and leave this piece of mine behind. I'd be lying if I said that the thought doesn't make me a bit sad. But that's alright, because when the time comes, I'll learn to accept it eventually. Sides, Charlie deserves all those views for his hardwork!
That and... my best friend Dominic, the owner of infernum mod loves the track to bits, and I'm sure there'll be at least be some others who do too. And that was all the encouragement I needed to post this.
Treat this track as just something to listen to while waiting for the official theme if you want, heh.
There'll be a toggle to swap between the themes once the official theme is out too, so don't cha worry.

I for one absolutely love the fact that it recalls the mechs one and ARMSTRONG too. I sincerely wanna say, cuz I'd be lying to you all if I said otherwise, that Yharim's eventual theme follows what this one does, with as you said, It Has To Be This Way.
But this matches a lot the chaotic energy the exos exuded when I first saw em. Bravo to you, I'll even use my own Italian and say Bravissimo.

Ever since I heard from nycro that you decided to remix your theme for exos i've been itching to hear it. All I need to say is that this is a banger. Easily outdone yourself with this. Passion and motivation create masterpieces, and having that little help to spark it shows, because god damn it went a long way.

@@burnico8068 If you want my honest opinion it was more of a, I felt like, but I don't know all the details, that he really fed into negativity from the community instead of looking at the good and only looked at the bad bringing himself down and mentally spiraling down and going into chaos, don't really know because I can't speak for others but from all of the coffee breaks and community updates and stuff, and shutting down the comments in all of the calamity videos twice, reopening them once, i just feel bad for him. Miss him. But the ost after he stepped down has still been mind-blowingly amazing.

Not only did he study our butts just to try and kick it, when he loses, he says we are “a catalyst, outside the bounds of calculation” which in a way makes sense: as the player we have powers and behavior no NPC could ever comprehend

When Dokuro stopped making music for the Calamity mod, I was worried that the music would never be the same, but the only thing that really changed was style. You got all the motifs spot on, and did the mod its due diligence. Good stuff.

I love how personalized each mechs’ part sounds. In Thanatos’s segments you can hear synths going up and down like a sine wave, like the movement of a serpent. Then that electric guitar goes off during the Twin segments, which perfectly describes their fight: *hectic, heart pumping, and relentless*. Not only that, it also sounds like there are two synths playing together, working as one analagous to the Twins. And during Ares part a “siren” can be heard. It screams “danger is coming,” especially when Ares and his four exo super weapons give you the death stare.
So it turned it I was right! :0
Thanatos's part is definitely my favorite. I wish there was a whole song just like it.

Crazy bullet hells with bosses dashing left and right are fun for me

Keep in mind that this also kinda mirrors Boss 1 2 and 3 from the OG Terraria OST. Thanatos (Destroyer) with the synths that seem to curve up and down, much like in certain parts of Boss 3, Ares (Prime) with the loud siren that mimics the siren in Boss 1, and Apollo and Artemis (The Twins) with the chaotic and hectic melody of Boss 2. This music is like 3 layers of motifs deep and I'm digging it.

This is absolutely the best exo mechs theme I’ve heard
At 3:44 we see that the mechs gain colour, but Draedon stays colourless. He's realized what these automatons have not; there is no chance of winning. He gains colour again later, and it shows how he will throw everything at you, just to watch and improve on his designs
I'd say he's rather happy as he's found the perfect test subject.

No I'm pretty sure it just shows who's part is playing, and which phase it's on.
I like to think that at first he is despairing over the fact that his perfect machines have failed, but then when he watches us die again and again, improving every time in both skill and equipment, he comes to the realization that although his machines were never going to be perfect, he can now work to rebuild them even better.

OH MY GOD!!! I didn't realize it actually transitions into Tale of a Cruel World! My jaw dropped as soon as I read your comment and the realization hit me like a truck, since that part of the song was ticking me off in some particular way as if it was familiar! Hahaha
The fact that the BPM was made to match “It has to be this way” in tempo while also having small references (4:12) of the said song just helps me realize more that most of Calamity’s Content is inspired by MGRR

it took me ~100 attempts to defeat infernum exo mechs while infernum yharon took me a damn week and ~500 attempts
it took so many attempts for me to defeat exo mechs (in 1.3 version of calamity) which was a LONG time ago... and i had ultra-speed due to the fact that i had a mod that was available in that time, and it was metroid mod, i had litterally the best boots in calamity + Terra-Booster on, and yet i couldnt beat it (untill an attempt where i finally beat him) but then in 1.4 (I THINK) i beat the exo mechs using rogue

You weren't told to make this song, CDMusic had it covered. And yet, you did, just cause you loved Draedon's leitmotif (and presumably music) so much.
It's incredible how Catastrophic Fabrications, a song made for the passion of music, the joy of creation, is the song about Draedon. A being who's only purpose is to create. Who lives to satiate that urge to make. Not to mention, the creation of the Exo-Mechs were (probably?) not ordered by Yharim, they were only made to fulfil Draedon's goal in life.
It's beautiful in a way.
To me this song is first and foremost about creation. To make something beyond ourselves with the human gift of consciousness. Not only from the song being about Draedon, but also the aforementioned context regarding the song.
I've felt this need to create something myself, specifically in music. This song, even if musically somewhat irrelevant, thematically fits that. It brings out that inner artist in me, I guess.
...Excuse my introspection, I must gather my thoughts after listening to this piece for probably the hundredth time.
I know you probably won't see this Pinpin, but if you do: Incredible work. I can only hope to reach the heights you have as a musician.

This theme fits the infernum exo mechs best, since the fight becomes terrifying with that difficulty enabled. Like the exo mechs were given a massive upgrade
God Catastsrophes Before Calamity is such a good song and the motif at the end of the song being used at 4:17 brought a tear to my eye. I was so worried that when DM DOKURO left that the music would never be the same in calamity, and while that's true to an extent, this is definitely not disappointing in the slightest. You not only do the mod justice, but DOKURO himself justice, and that's a feat to behold. Congratulations, and much love ❤
That motif always hits hard as hell, especially here. I love it so much, one of my favorite motifs in the entire mod's soundtrack.

Inferior fabrications was made by this same man for infernum vanilla mech bosses and is only being used in actual calamity as a placeholder until CDmusic is finished with his version

While the boss may be chaotic and unfair at times,and given its insanely great concept and execution, seeing what all has been made from it and what has yet to come, from Dokuro striking an absolute goldmine with the Draedon motif to these songs being made before the final one is even finished ,Draedon has to be one of the best things pumped out by the Terraria community!
I don’t think dokuro did any songs relating to dreadon as he left before that and got replaced by the new guy
@@tattut5950 Catastrophes before the Calamity has the Draedon motif during its final chorus, and Interstellar Stomper has the same motif hidden during the quiet but halfway through the song.
The devs are also planning on making the exo mechs less absurdly unfair too which is pretty cool

absolutely beautiful theme for the exomechs, fits perfectly with the tech vibe going on, defintely a "stained brutal calamity tier song" now granted idk if charlies is gonna be THIS good, way worse, or if hes gonna pull another "blaze of glory" tier theme, but if he doesnt, know you did amazing with draedons theme (think of it like this, we HAVE one now right?, and its a good one.) and due be aware there are FAR duller tmodloader themes for top tier bosses that got jipped, its gratifying to know draedon isnt one of them, just listen to abaddons theme for like 30 seconds, no hate on the creator cause he did put the work in and you GOTTA respect that. but, how do i say it, hes not you. amazing work my dude

i was so disappointed when i found out this was a fanmade track and not the official Exo Mech theme, I was looking forward to using a music box on it. This is my favorite calamity mod song, fanmade or not and it totally deserves to be in the game.
fanmade? not really it is official, but not for calamity itself but for a official add on, basically, dominic karma(calamity developer) got permission from fabsol to make a add on to include different boss AI's, aka complete boss redesigns, this add on is called "infernum" and has been getting a lot of work from a lot of talented terraria developers, pinkie being in charge of the music ^^

I love the synth replicating sirens in the background. Really adds to the feeling of turbulence you feel while fighting Draedon. He is truly the last wall before Yharim.

this theme just grows on you man, at first i found it out of place and weird but the more and more i listened to it the more it grew on me and i can say its probably in my top 3 calamity themes if not my favourite. I know this is a place holder but i sure hope they never change it because i dont think anything can top this

I know that no matter what the official Exo-Mech theme is, this will always be better. It's literally in my top 15 favorite songs ever.

At first when it started I was worried that it might remove the undertones of struggle and finality that Inferior Fabrications had, and then it sweeps in with the remastered chorus and takes those fears away. This song is incredible and enjoyable the whole ride through, and while Inferior will always have that particular vibe of glory in the face of your final obstacles, the intimidating and heavy tune that this one has suits the Exo Mechs well.
Honestly the Dreadon motif is my favorite in the soundtrack, and this is a piece of art. I'm glad you got through and put it up. I feel like there are too many good pieces left to rot due to mental illness, and to think this could never have seen the light of day because of that is upsetting. Congratulations.
Side note: I still haven't even fought this mechanical bastard and both of the themes you've made for him already slap. Like, the biggest issue I have fighting any bosses in calamity is vibing too hard I lose focus, and I can't see Dreadon being any different.

This is amazing. The climax where they all join together is like a mechanical war cry. For soulless machines, there’s a lot of soul in this theme.
Love how dangerous and mechanical this sounds. The MGR fan in me is disappointed that the Collective Consciousness leitmotif was removed though

For being the most amazing composer of the terraria infernum community ever, it was a great rollercoaster when i listen your whole themes for the community. Last year when i discover your video (Catastrophic Fabrication) in my recommendations i was quite interested to listen, then after 4 days im really enjoying this theme, one of my favourite part is the definitely the climax, in my opinion the Exo Mechs like to about unlish their battle cry and there true power and draedon is very intrigue to this player because he notice that he is the only one "subject" can handle the long battle of the Exo Mechs. I notice that fans are making exo mechs fanmade too, and i was quite shock it was awesome to listen and it was inspired by you PinpinNeon, you've done amazing hardwork for everyone that Catastrophic before the Calamity Motif was such a banger that fans gives attention to it. Present later i heard the rumors that your going to leave the community due to the fans being hatred, i feel bad for your concerns and i got flashback from this situation. I hope your doing great Pin even your moving to the other side of the community i'll still support your amazing work and i hope you won't forget that your hardworks is such inspiration to the fans.

I think the current official exomechs theme is fine. I don't have the high praise for it that a lot of people have, and I'm still excited for CDMusic's theme.
But goddamn if this isn't amazing. It almost feels wrong that this isn't in the official mod and is only in a DLC.
I could imagine that specific parts of the track could play depending on which Exo-Mech you choose when given the option

Personally I like the idea of having the mechanical and exo mechanical version of the Brain of Cuthulu, and if it happened, it would probably be considered in the Exo Mechanical bosses as well.
However, for now, we do not have an official XP-00 hypnos.

This is some of the most energetic, amazing music I've heard in a bit! Awesome work! It encapsulates the chaotic, difficult feel of the battle well, and also gives a feeling of finality and panic. It's extremely well made, and ties very well with your previous Inferior Fabrications!
