  • The Highline Trail is one of my favorite trails when taking it to Granite Park Chalet and then up and over the continental divide via the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail all the way to the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn. It's a spectacular hike!
The cliff face along the Garden wall is scary for some until the trail opens up and follows the contours of the Mt all the way to Granite Park. We buy a snack before heading up 500 feet to the pass and the 2400 feet of switchbacks down to the valley floor.

I am going to Glacier National Park in August and I am trying to decide between the Highline Trail from Logan Pass to Granite Chalet and back or the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail. We are staying at the Many Glacier Hotel during our trip. Which trail would you recommend if you had to pick just one. We are also doing the Grinell Glacier trail on another day.

Well, you’ve watched the video that allow you to make that decision. If you’re capable of doing all 15.2 that’s what i’d do. the trick of course is getting back to logan to get your car. I’ve hitched a ride both times i did it. If you want to take the spur up to the Grinnell Glacier overlook then it makes sense to go back to logan or down to the loop.
sounds like u will benefit from watching my 50 hikes in glacier video- subscribe it’s easy to find. skip to the highline section where i talk about and show each option

I'm planning on visiting in mid September. If I plan on doing a point to point hike starting at logan pass and ending at the loop... do you happen to know when the last shuttle back to logan pass is? I looked online, but couldn't come across that information. Thank you

The shuttles may not be running in mid sept. More of this info will be available on line when the shuttles start running for the season. i caught the last shuttle at the loop once - i think it was around 7pm. but it’s always different

@@TheWestisBig Interesting. When you say may not... is it because it's towards the end of the peak season?

yes- they used to stop running around Labor Day. They have been extending service by a week or two because of increased popularity. I jusst checked teh park website. The shuttles this year run from 9/3 to 9/15 with reduced service. the last shuttle leaves the loop for LP at 4:20p. Thanks for subscribing

@@TheWestisBig Yeah, I feel like an idiot because I literally just checked the site before you responded. Haha. I think I'll plan on parking at the loop and taking the shuttle to logan pass, so I can take as much time hiking the highline with options for side trails.
