I tried to guess on color alone and I was incorrect. Coors Banquet is my go-to American Lager. I enjoy it much more than Bud or High Life. I wish more bars would carry it. I'll drink Bud bottles if I go to a greasy dive bar. If I'm home I get 30 packs of Banquets.
There was a noticeable difference in color. Just by appearance, I thought your original guess was right. I just associate Banquet and Coors Light with a lighter color (and I'm completely wrong). Thanks for doing this. I always take tall cans of Banquet when we go camping.
Being 70 years old... I can still remember the original Coors from Colorado that had to be keep chilled on the trucks and in the stores... it was marvelous. Today's Coors is just Miller beer, after the merger. The original St Louis Bud was also great. Then they opened regional breweries and it just sucks now. ... after all these USA cheap Macro brew reviews, IMO... PBR reigns supreme. What really sucks is Beck's and Stella Artois are now no longer Imports.... but brewed by Budweiser. Now two beers I enjoyed taste like crap.
Peter - I’ll start by saying that’s it’s awesome that an OG Coors/Bud beer drinker watched this video. I see you’re a PBR guy from the comment, but are there others you enjoy?
@@jsenigaglia My beer so far this year for 1st place is Vermont's Switchback Ale. Hard to describe it, it is a unique taste. Think I like it because it is done without adding CO2 SWITCHBACK ALE 5.0% ABV and 28 IBU Unfiltered and 100% Naturally Carbonated Switchback Ale was developed as a flavor concept, not adhering to any style guidelines. Using only traditional ingredients, Switchback Ale is an unfiltered, reddish-amber ale which is particularly well-balanced, allowing for complexity of flavor coupled with an unusually smooth and refreshing character. Five different malts, select hop varieties, and our own specially cultivated yeast create an ale which leads with hop flavors and a subtle impression of fruit (our yeast’s contribution), followed by a palate pleasing malty finish.
you are a really lucky man peter . Please tell me , how was it like drinking the original coors ? what did they taste like ? Banquet is my favorite macro lager at the moment but i cant help but wonder how these tasted like before the merger
@@rolandrosa760 best way to explain Coors when it first got a cult following is "FRESH" Like when you go to a micro brew pub and they crack open a new keg of something they just brewed a few days ago... being non pasteurized it had to be kept cold until drinking. You swore you were drinking fresh Rocky Mtn spring water made into beer. Nothing like the corn syrup tasting beer today. It wasn't long once they went national they started pasteurizing for shelf life... it was never the same... much like Tree House ... once they expanded to Charlton from Monson, while good.... the water is different and no longer small batches. IMO...water is key to every brew. If you have to build it vs having a great source you lose the character of the natural water.
I finally did it. I had a little money left over from my paycheck. And so I went to the gas station and got a 6-pack of Coors banquet in the bottles. And then a 12 pack of the cans and I did a taste test, and I noticed that the bottle was way better than the can though. From now on I may get 12 pack of the bottles
I will take a MGD over both of those all day long. Yuengling and Genesee I think are better as well. I was in a market research study where they had us all blindly drink Genesee against Bud, Sam, Coors, etc. and there was over 50 guys in the room and we all voted and Genesee beat them all but a large amount every time.
That’s awesome! We don’t get Genesee or Yeungling out here unfortunately. I’d love to drink both. I’ve not seen MGD in anything less than a 30 pack here in years, either. People say it’s the same beer as Miller High Life (which I love) but not sure how true that is.
The Bandit didn’t go all the way to Texarkana for Budweiser! As Philo Betto would say with Ray Charles, “ the taste of Coors and good friends always last!” And not to mention Paycheck! “Can of Coors brewed from a mountain stream. Set your head on fire and make your kidneys scream! It sure is good!” Beers to you! 🍻
Actually, Schlitz tried modifying the recipe, ALA New Coke, and there was an unexpected side effect. In the 1970's most beer was shipped in unrefrigerated rail cars and trucks. They had not tested this part of how the beer would react when handled this way and what happened is the brew would precipitate out (sludge) at the bottom of the can or bottle. Schlitz resurrected the old recipe a while back , but the Clydesdale was well out of the barn.
I did side by side blind test these and found exactly the same thing. The coors tastes like... beer. And the bud tastes like beer but with a weird amount of sweetness, no hops at all, and a funny almost oily mouthfeel. They're 90% the same. But that 10% is hands down going to coors. I also did the light vs lite... Coors lite tastes like water. It's barely fizzy, it's not sweet or bitter or anything. It just tastes like drinking beer with covid. Coors lite tastes like a lighter version of a coors. Corn, rice, touch of bitter hops, and some metallic flavor that isn't great but not bad. I like high life too. Miller is pretty decent and right in the middle of bud and coors.
Coors Banquet is decent for a cheap American lager. Watched an English beer expert do a test of I think it was 20 American lagers, and Banquet was #1!! Always been one of my favorites in that category. BTW, PBR was #2 in that particular guy's list. Also a fave.
Banquet is so solid, and I’m also a PBR fan. What really surprised me these past few years is how often Miller Lite wins when I do these blind tastings. ML is so good!
I prefer a high abv IPA for less bloat while out to dinner with my main squeeze but she wants me to try a lower abv for better staying power so I suppose I'll give the banquet a try. If Joe likes it I'm trying it.😊
I am having a Coors Banquet as I watch your review. It has a hint of banana? Now one of my go to Macro lagers. 15 16 ounce aluminum bottles for $19.00. I will get that every time
When you say residual sweetness I can only gag and think Miller. I swear they literally add sugar to their beer or something. I can never finish but 1/2 of a can before the cloying sweetness stops me in my tracks.
I've said for decades that Bud/bud light are the best examples of the power of advertising. They are the worst of the American macro beers and were top sellers until recently.
If you don't store bud right it tastes like shit you can't have it hot cold hot cold if you get it clean and cold. The balance. Is fantastic best taste EVER
Budweiser was my kind of beer until Anheuser Busch did the most disgusting thing any company has ever done,so now I drink Coors which is actually better beer made from Rocky mountain spring water
Having someone promote a college basketball contest is far from the most disgusting thing ever done, but whatever makes you sleep better at night. When our moral stands happen at alcohol it might be time to rethink things but what do I know. 🤷🏻♂️ Glad you’re enjoying Coors. It’s a good beer.
Coors was founded in 1873 and was dubbed ″Banquet Beer″ by Clear Creek Canyon miners because they would drink it in banquet halls or large banquet tents when there were no banquet rooms available
A true intelligent gentleman always prefers the Banquet. The sweet nectar of the Beer Gods!! +1
Very true!
Amen!
Definitely ❤❤
my dad has been drinking this for almost 40 years. hes 89 now. we enjoy it together frequently. cheers in Jesus name
i cant stop drinking them. i am an IPA man and i cannot stop drinking the coors banquet lagers.
Coors > Budweiser. Coors was the first beer I ever had (I think I was ~13, and on a boat), so it'll always have a little nostalgia for me.

Banquet has really grown on me. I enjoy it for sure 🍻
Same!
High Life for me, Coors a very close second and Budweiser and PBR tied but for different reasons
MHL 8.5/10
CRS 8.4/10
BDW/PBR 8/10
Iam glad to see Coors having a boom . It is superior to Bud. Head to the Mountains 🌄 Gentleman 😁.
It's such a good beer, if you are ever in Golden, CO try Barmen Pils; its Coors version of a European Pils only available in Colorado.
I think I'd give a slight edge to Coors Banquet.
MORE than a slight edge.
I could tell by the color (Not proud of that fact, btw).
I knew there would be folks who knew right away 😎
I could absolutely tell by color alone.🤣
You are making my life so much easier. Just watching you drink the everyday macro beer makes me smile.
🙏🏼🍻
I love these battle beer reviews man! It’s great you don’t over think it to try and guess which is which definitively. Cheers!
They’re been a ton of fun. Will do a bunch for for sure! 🍻
Coors and Coors light has been my go to macro beer.
Big fan of both! 🍻
Before watching: betting on Coors Banquet

Coors Light may actually be lighter in color than Bud, but definitely not Banquet, which is far superior to Coors Light

Yeah, that is very true, though. bottles do take up space in the small fridge that we use here at the house for the beer
Banquet is my go to Domestic Beer, after living in Denver for years and enjoying it on draft at most bars, it is really a good refreshing lager.
I love Banquet 🍻

I cannot argue any of these points! 😂🔥. Cheers! 🍻
Shlitz used to be #1 in beer sales until a bad ad campaign. They lost the crown to Budweiser and went bankrupt. How 🤔 ironic is that
I’ve never seen Schlitz here in CA. Saw it in Chicago while traveling a few weeks ago but didn’t have it. I should have.

Hell yes 🍻

Miller Lite has been my go to this past year. I dig High Life too, but ML is almost always cheaper so I grab that 🍻
Use to drink Budweiswr but i switched it to Coors alittle while back as my go to cheap yet tasty beer.
Can’t go wrong with the banquet! 🍻
Coors Banquet is brewed using pure Rocky Mountain spring water. Very good good quality beer.
Yessir! 🍻
Keep the Wwf coming...good stuff from a lager and baseball lover
Cheers David! Baseball season is almost here!
I think they are both quality american lagers.

We sure do love us some Bud in the US!

I’ve still yet to taste banana in these beers but many have mentioned it! I need to get my palate better for sure 🍻
Forgive me for two comments on your video, JOW, but I have to ask-@1:45 in the background screen - is that my favourite WWF "jobber" Barry O?
I’m a big Iron Mike Sharpe mark 😎
Ok mister Magnum Pi ,, i was watching this video wile drinking my gold can coors😂😂,, that's my favorite beer sr🫡
Haha Coors is good stuff! 🍻
I like them both but I think I prefer bud just a bit more. Bud has that crisp finish thanks to the rice used in the brewing process

Dang, I've fallen in love with Miller Lite the last year. They don't seem sweet to me?
I can tell you just by looking the darker beer is Coors....Bud is lighter....and IMO (and I am not a beer guy) BUD is only for watering plants!
I knew it was Coors by the Color and I enjoy Coors more than Budweiser and I can taste the alcohol more in the Coors .
I like doing test on beer too
It’s fun to drink them not knowing which is which! 🍻
Both classics🤣🤣

Others have said the same. I just didn’t drink enough Budweiser in the past to know the difference these days (if there is one) ya know? 🍻
Yep. Enjoy the videos man! 👍🏻

Coors is so great! 🍻
