Dear Param Sir,
Hope you will not mind if we ask one funny question.
If Wife decides that she needs a son but she is not getting that from her present husband therefore she wants to follow an alternative route - Plan B. Is it acceptable for Hindu males?. Fortunately woman folks did not write any of the great scriptures of any religion including Ramayana, Mahabharat, Upanishads, Vedas etc. Hindu males should also be very proud for following the tradition of "SATI" meticulously / rigorously with fanatic religious connotations over many centuries.
To be honest there is no concept called as SATI in vedic scriptures, these are some of barbaric practices they followed in recent times after foreign invasions.
Sir, first unpunished is written by female, there are great female saints who have dedicated to Vedas. If male domination is not there then woman will have enough freedom to choose the way of life (she can choose the male for fertility) there are many stories about this. But male will not allow his female to have sex with other male, that's the natural tendency in animal kingdom, if u see life styles of lion, tiger cheetah etc.... in human kingdom also same thing, that's where knowledge comes in to for leading the life in better way otherwise its similar to animal kingdom

1. As per the shastras, polyandry (Bahu Patitva) is acceptable. Example is Draupadi. It is still practiced in some remote villages of Uttarakhand. Plan B is acceptable as per Shastras. But as a society Hindus may not accept as you say.
2. In the Vedic literature we have many mantras written by Female Rishis. But post vedic periods, this seems to have changed.
3. In vedas, there is no mention of Sati. But during Mahabharata we can see Madri after the death of Pandu did sahagamana with her husband, which was optional. If it was mandatory Kunti should have also been doing saahagamana. Sati was be seen on some parts of present Rajasthan due to Muslim conquest of India.
