    For anyone who picks up this deck, there's a sweet line that I'm REALLY surprised Seth didn't use. If you have a Prismari Command in your graveyard and a big dangerous spell in your hand, you can use your first Flamepainter trigger to recast the Command to loot away your big spell and shock/shatter/strike it rich, and then use the second Flamepainter trigger to cast the big spell.
    I also feel like there was at least one point in these games where playing Torrent Sculptor as a 6/6 with Ward 2 would have been sensible... but other than that, I'm happy to see a shell where Flamepainter doesn't feel like an overindulgence.

      2 damage from the prismari command, 8 damage from the flamespeaker mech and 10 from explosive singularity makes exactly 20!

    • @jediarcherbc709
      @jediarcherbc709 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use this deck. I have used a pumped Torrent Sculptor as a blocker to live the turn so I can win with the Mindlink combo. I have also done that exact line of play you mentioned, and it won me a game.

    32:00 is not greedy, it's a great play from opponent, sure it only works like 20% of the time, but if they sit back and have to chump the efreet when seth still has 3 cards more than them in hand, for them to have to Topdeck a response not only to efreet but also to whatever else seth plays in his turn then it's a much lower chance of winning than 20%

    • @christopherwoodbury7520
      @christopherwoodbury7520 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yup they see the same number of cards both ways so this nets them 3 damage and potentially denies seth a chance to draw a counter to the removal spell.

    32:00 Not a misplay with that attack. If they block, the card they draw for turn would have to save them. And they are in the same situation with attacking. Not to mention you may have removal for the blocker or general interaction on your turn.

  • @Sevifor
    @Sevifor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    1:03:45, the opponent misplayed pretty hard by forgetting that Hinata has flying. If they'd used the Mascot Interception on Hinata (paying the extra two for it) they would have had a 6/4 flyer to attack with that you wouldn't have been able to block. They might have been trying to play around a bounce spell like Fading Hope (so that you had to bounce your token instead of bouncing the creature you can just play next turn), but I feel like if you had a deployable bounce spell in that circumstance they weren't going to come back anyways, so they should have just gone for it.
    Deck looks really sweet. I'm surprised at how often you get in juuust enough damage to make a single Explosive Iteration be lethal.

  • @Mirvana

    With a little extra mana, a Modern version of this deck could use Pull From Eternity in between Mindlink/Flamepainter hits to use the same copy of Singularity for both triggers (Cast it from First Strike trigger, then use Pull to put it back for the Normal Strike trigger.)

Game one against werewolves you took it out for abrade and then discarded it when it could have killed their hastey werewolf.

    • @MTGGoldfish
      @MTGGoldfish  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's sorcery speed sadly, so it isn't great against haste threats, but I do agree it's a solid removal spell for the deck for sure. Fills the graveyard and usually kills the opponents biggest thing.

Feels good to see someone reading flamepainter, then mouse over the graveyard to see there is nothing of value to cast and let's the attack through!

  • @jjohansen86
    @jjohansen86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I kinda think that you should count rares as less than a full rare for purposes of Budget Magic on Arena, simply because you should get the rare lands basically no matter what, you'll probably need them for other decks. A rare that's a combo piece just for one deck hurts, but rare lands that I know I'm gonna need for other decks are fine. The only way that the rare lands really hurt is when you're building your first couple of decks.

    Dont take this the wrong way, you face overlay on the video really doesnt add anything to the overall video. I dont come hear to stare at your face I come here to watch and listen to you play games

      I disagree. I think Seth's excitement for Magic is infectious, and seeing his face and how he visibly reacts to things only adds to that.

    So have you just decided to make no Alchemy content at all? That is really disappointing.

      Don't worry, there's Alchemy content upcoming.

      Why make content for a format you can't play in paper?

    • @mostlyholy6301
      @mostlyholy6301 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@senpaibos2748 There is nothing inherently greedy about making a new format, no-one is forcing you to play it, and the issue you should be upset about is the general predatory economy of Arena, not specifically Alchemy.
      Making weird new formats and trying out weird new ideas is exactly the kind of thing we should want WotC to be doing, especially since doing it thru Alchemy means it does not affect paper formats at all.
