Bruce Campbell explained the connection, look for his "requel" interview bit. The first part of Evil Dead 2 is a recap of the first movie, but they couldn't get the rights to their own darn movie, so they had to make new footage, and then they also retconned it to be just Ash and Linda going to the cabin. Bruce said if you put them together, it would go from where the evil rush attacks Ash at the end of the first movie to pick up where it's throwing Ash through the trees in the second movie and briefly possesses him there.

Army of Darkness is where the true goofy smartass Ash really comes through, and he takes that and just ramps it up to eleven in the Ash vs Evil Dead series. Ooh, another awesome Bruce movie is Bubba Ho-Tep. He plays a geriatric Elvis in a nursing home fighting a mummy curse. So hilarious!
If you're thirsting over Bruce Campbell, then it mean you have good taste.
another good film with sam rami (with a cameo of Bruce) is the horror film called " The Intruder" from year 1989 sam's brother is also in it and both both brothers have an acting part

The Evil Dead is the best horror film ever made! It’s so much fun, so gross, it’s everything you want. Ash is the perfect finial guy. There are so many iconic scenes. This entire film is a love letter to horror fans.
My favorite scene is Ash literally fighting his hand. One of my favorite moments in film ever. It’s so absurd and hilarious. The deer head and room coming to life, hilarious.

When i watched this as a kid with cousins and mum, i remembered it as a horror comedy but mostly comedy 😂

It sucks you guys lost all your views and have to upload this again... but on the plus side, I get to rewatch your reaction all over again.
So, I win... I guess.
Two things- For folks that like this movie I also recommend Dead Alive (also called Braindead) by Peter Jackson (yes, that Peter Jackson). It's also way over the top and gory creative. But it MUST be the unrated version.
And if you want more Ash of course there's Army of Darkness, but also the series Ash Vs Evil Dead which is a fun time (not to mention the Queen Lucy Lawless is in it).
This is an amaazing movie, and Ash it´s legendary!! Now you can finish with Army of Darkness boys!! You´re awesome!!

I think there were rights issues with the original, so the first seven minutes of EVIL DEAD II had to be a rushed rehash of the first, and align with the actual sequel story line. That's why people tend to be confused into thinking this is a remake.

I love seeing all the queers thirst over Bruce Campbell while reacting to the Evil Dead series. He really was an underrated hottie in the 80s and early 90s. He’s still a touchable daddy bear today.
