So for anyone wondering, as someone in their 30s with 0 math experience, this book is amazingly priced and great for learning/relearning mathematical concepts. A+
Im 19 and I really suck at math.
@@sohibkhalifa5489you have more time
I'm much older, I'm getting this to teach myself so that I won't be lost when my 14yr old asks me about math homework.
Me too am 19. Have u improved since then?@@sohibkhalifa5489
In the future your house will be known as the library of Alexandria for math books. The worlds largest mathematics library lol.
Ikr! Man's got just SO MANY books! Hope I too have that kind of a library one day!
hey i am egyptian here, 😂😂😂, i like this man, and i really wish i see people as him in my country he made me likes math, and i was stupid in it
I bought the last, everything you need to know, math (pre-algebra) book .. and I have to say, it's been awesome! I'm not starting from scratch necessarily, but I'm looking to jog the math memory & sharpen my skills -- before tackling calc & discrete math : D ... Thanks so much for your videos and recommendations. I'm starting to really love math now -- if only I had this love when I was still in school XD
I got this book to teach my sister before she enters middle school. Tryna give her a head start in math🎉
Sir, you are really a sorcerer. One who motivates even novices and layman to study maths..... What I like is you cater to all level of learners and the methodology . Please help me to brush up all maths in a structured and quick way. I have been teaching for 22 years. All I know is school level mathematics and I have forgotten majority of things if higher maths. Please provide a email to personally have corespondence with you. Please do complete handholding for rest of my life. I am 48 now. Is it too late to begin afresh and help myself and students??? Love and Respect from India Sir 🙏
I picked up both the Geometry and the Pre-Algebra & Algebra 1 books recently. Been away from maths too long and these books are great to clear out the cobwebs from the brain.
I bought that book a few months ago. Worth the $10!!!
That series of books is excellent. My daughter hated math, but she used the "what your middle schooler needs to know" book from that company and loved it. I highly recommend them.
I picked it up at Goodwill for a buck for my daughters. One is in middle school and another will be there next year. The book is great. One day my daughter came to me with a question and we used this book to look up the definition.
adding this to my wishlist right now!!💫
Hi I bought this book. If you're starting to self study maths but have solid school basics (around 9 or 10 grade), it's not a great book. It's like a course book so you'll be bored. But if you're not sure of some really basic stuff and it's been a long time you've been at school then is good for you to get back in math
My one of the favourite book, all books of "every thing you need to ace" are just amazing and pretty easy to learn 😊. Love you The Math sorcerer for these kinds of reviews it's really helps us to improve our maths and increase the interest on it. You know mathematics is a music of reason according to "James Joseph Sylvester" and what's your opinion that is mathematics is the branch of science! I'm really confused about it 😕.
Suggestions for beginners is always welcome!
❤️❤️
The Maths Handbook.
You should check out "Arithmetic" by Paul Lockhart. I think it is the best introduction to math if you have no experience whatsoever. It's also an entertaining read even for people who have an extensive math background.
I got 99.5 in year 10 triggernometry.
In year 11 as usual I was lazy so my Coordinator kicked me into humanities.
I’m doing Brilliant and up 5 leagues.
I am thinking this is a good book.
I like reiterative learning.
I was thinking of contacting you.
I am a boomer and the “modern math”
As taught in Australia seems nonsense.
The Brilliant Section on expressions seems a bigger jump and I need to do repeated exercises.
For context I’d done Music Theory before but I decided at MIT to redo theory.
It’s was a 2 hour exam and I got 100% in 25 minutes.
Which was my goal to know it as well as my Tutor.
I see now how my brain works and your recent video “don’t hurry math”
struck a nerve.
So I wanted to repeat Triggernometry sine cost tangent etc.
I want to redo all that math.
I appreciate your recommendations.
My kids have several of these books. They love them
Really nice series, I was thinking of Geometrie and Physics if exists...
I started using this in public last year and a lady with a jersey accent walked up to me and was like "aw what's that? it has pictures? cute. I don't need that anymore."
...Okay? I wasn't recommending you the book anyway LOL. Anyhow, I really do love the Big Fat Notebook series. :)
Also, I just got the 600 question companion to this book!
Trying to teach my 7 year old son maths, so feel I need a refresher! This looks like a nice one ❤
Yesssssss....getting that contact high from hearing the book being sniffed....
Hey sorcerer sir , can you make a beginner to advanced guide for computer science. Like you did for maths in one of your video 😊
Math Sorcerer is becoming the Jack LaLanne of mathematical encouragement.
My daughter (11) and I are spending on hour or two per day on fun math during the Summer holiday, and we’re using this book. It will be a nice handbook for her once school starts.
I’m augmenting it with some Kumon books just to have a lot of problems to solve.
(She wants to be a physicist like her Dad so she can be “an insufferable know-it-all”… tweens!)
I would like to hear your assessment of common core math.
I just bought it, but in softcopy, it quite good, I wish got the hardcopy, love the interactive notes and writing
This is the book I bought for my son a few months ago, this is a great mathematics book to start off.
You are the Quinn's Ideas of mathematics.
Thanks ... Maths sorcerer!!
this is actually a really cool fun book!
I guess I’d like to start with basic arithmetic. I want to learn the new methods of solving subtraction, multiplication and division.
Thank you for reviewing this book. I was dying for middle school book review 😊
I have the English Language Arts from this collection and I loved it as well. I didn't buy this math one from the video because I bought Super Simple Math (DK - Smithsonian) first, then I found this collection Big Fat Notebook.
It's a middle school book that helps getting the rudiments. There are complete set or tomes that teaches math from start to finish starting to introductory settings reaching up to measure theory. I've heard of few. I'll look them up
Can you name some books that teaches math from start to finish, I'm beginner.
Pretty good, but I wish they replaced the coordinate chapter with formulae and factoring. Then this book could get us fully prepared for precalc.
Every math book I ever had in school, had a section on Statistics and Probability. The teachers never took it up. I took math through ALG II.
Math Sorcerer is amazing :)
❤️
5:00 I'm the adult that forgot everything hahaha. I wasn't good at math in high school, but I'm a programmer now. Now I'm interested in math because I think I'll have an easier time with it, since some concepts are similar (or the same, in some cases) with a few programming concepts. I need a few books to basically learn almost everything again. I'm thinking about either buying this book, or the "Pre-Algebra and Algebra I" one (or maybe both, if they complement each other). What do you think?
Hello 👋 I'm in the same situation here which one did you choose? I know really little about maths and wanna prepare for university ( I'm gonna have to course maths for engineering and physics) 😅
Woah this is just class 9th cbse mathematics textbook in the right order too! No joke it's literally the exact same content wise!
I have and love this book and the science book as a middle math and science teacher.
Thanks for all of the book recommendations. I would like to recommend one of my favourites. Memoranda Mathematica by W. P. Workman is a wonderful book.
interesting video. i was wondering if there existed something similar for arithmetic only.
I have this book and I think it's adorable!
Oh wow you have it! That’s awesome !
Hello Math Socerer!
I love your videos, and they have helped me a lot to go deeper in mathematics. I would like you to review the book "Mathematical Methods for Physicists: A Comprehensive Guide" by Arkfen, Weber and Harris. I used it in my physics studies but I don't know if there is a better or clearer book to relearn the concepts.
I send you a big hug and best wishes!
great review book also refresh
Hello, thank you for the videos and ingormation that you share. I have a child who has been ill for the past 3 years and missed most of his 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade years. Can you give a good suggestions of books that would be good for us to start with for homeschooling this year or that encompasses material for all of those grades? We are starting from the basics-subtraction, addition, division, multiplication etc. Thank you. I love this book and think we will use it this year too.
Thank you scorcese it's great book I downloaded now.
That is truly a beautiful book.
I got 25% for my last maths exam and now Im terrified of maths for the first time in a long time. I usually do 4-5 hours a day , but since that exam I haven't touched any maths book with a ten foot pole in two months. I feel like I've regressed and I can't remember any of my other work either 😕. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
I want to know what you think of Robert A.Adams and Christopher Essex's Caclculus: a complete course, and I also want to thank you for the great material you produce and the sources you share
great book, hay man are there any good recommendations for books if you are studying for your SAT's to improve your score?
I have to admit I give almost all books a whiff. Lol. I love the smell of books - old and new. 🤣
Have you read "Algebra The Beautiful: An Ode to Math's Least-Loved Subject" by G Arnell Williams?
What would you recommend for a high school dropout? My highest completion is grade nine. Now that I'm 23 I see value in math but am unsure where my skillset is. Perhaps a better question may be, how can I define where I'm at in math so I can know where to start.
omg i have this book! as a teen i wanna learn more math
I am enjoying this book and I'm 14
Well this book is not complete beginner, because it takes as granted that you know how to do division/multiplication with decimals and stuff.
Don't chapter 7 and 8 cover that?
Look nice this book i buy to learn my scientific english
Does it cover some advanced topics like calculus, trigonometry and advanced algebra etc ?
Haven't you shown this book earlier?
No that was a different one. This one is even more basic:)
Hey maths sorcerer❤️❤️ why - * - is plus, how quadratic formula works proof ,why sin 90-theta is cos theta , I want to know why formula works how formula works why equation works how equation works proof of formulas proof of equation rules of mathematic logic behind rules. I want to logically and conceptually understand MATHS. I WANT TO KNOW HOW MATHS WORKS and many many more . I want to understand it deeply like mathematicians i want to understand maths like mathematician I WANT TO FEEL IT . I AM IN 10TH CLASS . I WILL BE VERY GRATEFUL TO YOU IF YOU WILL HELP ME AND SUGGEST SOMETHING LIKE BOOKS RESOURCES LECTURES OR ANY OTHER STUFF THANK YOU ❤️❤️.
I would recommend some proof writing books ! There are tons of good ones. One that is free is called “book of proof”. It’s super good just google it❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@TheMathSorcerer thanks ❤️
Is this book good for dummy like myself?
This beautiful diagram on page 4 is not quite correct. Actually, IRRATIONAL numbers = R\Q , where R - real numbers, Q - rational numbers. The diagram shows it in the wrong way! Same error in previous review book “Everything you need to ace Pre-Algebra & Algebra 1…
I feel like i can really touch and smell the books from the Library of the Math Sorcerer
I have it and it helps me a lot! so if you don't have go buy it
Like a lot of math books, you can get it for free online. Just put in the title or most of the title and PDF and you will find it.
Do they do one focused on stats?
Im thinking about buying this book. But not because i dont know any maths. well, im not SUPER good at the stuff i learned untill now, but Im decent enough. anyway, ı just graduated middle school in another country and ı wanted to learn maths in english. ı really just need to learn the english versions of the terms but i was thinking maybe this book would be useful to just generally repeat the stuff i know and see if theres something that im not too good at. ıf you have bothered with reading this comment, thank you! and do you happen to know of a book that might be better to just learn english terms?
i am a math teacher and i would like to develop my math knowledge which book do u suggest me to start with
Not sure if you answered this question but after the Math and Pre-Algebra/Algebra of these books, where would I go from here for next math book? Could I just jump into college level math books?
Sir pls tell me which is the best book for graph theory and combinactories
can you suggest a similar book for calculus part plz
Which one would be best for me as a beginner this one or the pre algebra one?
Does this book, uses the metric or the imperial system?
What book would you recommend for the beginner of calculus?
Are there any other beginner math books at this level you'd recommend? I'm not doubting the book itself, but I'd like one that doesn't look so kiddish.
Yeah get a real textbook:) Something like Blitzer's College Algebra Essentials. Get a used copy:)
@@TheMathSorcerer Thanks! Actually I need a really basic math book(s) to start off with. Today I went to the library. First I checked out the adults math section, which actually did have math books for kids/teens, then I went to the children's section and two women helped me there, including a math teacher! The other women actually thought of the Everything You Need To Know book. One of the Barron's "Painless" math books in the adult section, aimed at juniors, had a cartoon chicken on the cover and inside throughout. At home we have a "Painless" algebra book with a cat. If I'm ok with these cartoons, then I should be ok with "Everything" as an option. She said there's been adults lately coming into the children's section to learn things and also said there's a Japanese mathematician who learns things from children's books because they're clearer.
I would love if you made a video on kid level math books alone and/or as part of a new "Learn Mathematics From Start To Finish".
@@TheMathSorcererreal math starts from 8th class/8th grade.
The brilliant minds behind this book go by the names Ouida Newton and Altair Peterson.
Would you recommend this book for someone who lives outside US where there is metric system but not imperial one?
Hello l am from Tajikistan. How can l buy it.I really want to learn this book.
you have told that you collect math books i am high school student and i would not say i am bad at math and also not very best at it caz my basics are not really good so it would be real great if you suggest me a book for strengthening my math basic
Excellent book
this worth to buy
4:25 also maybe it's to make book look like a comic
So the title of your video is Beginner level Math but the book your recommending is targeted for middle school? I was on kahn academy on 3rd grade math stuff so that tells you that I can't just jump into this middle school book. I need something that will literally start at zero math....NO MATH. I need to start with a good foundation so I can build on. Not sure this title is the best one since it's targeting middle school because it dismisses elementary math! I need help!
I have some list that you can start with. But first I have to know what is 'zero' maths in your experience
@@Chesshire1 honestly I picked up a 2-3rd grade math book and just learning multiplication. I had an interesting childhood and didn’t really learn much. I basically have to learn from the beginning like that
@@Jesse.1776. I see. Books are a great way to anything learn but I feel like 2nd and 3rd grade books are not the way to go because it is usually more of memorising rather than learning. Children have probelm learning abstract concepts but digest concrete ideas very well. Moreover it is better to learn topic to topic. This is a short list of that-
1. Arithmetic Operations
2. Properties of Numbers
3. Fractions and Decimals
4. Integers
5. Prime Numbers
6. Factors and Multiples
7. Divisibility Rules
8. Exponents and Powers
9. Order of Operations
10. Number Patterns and Sequences
11. Place Value
12. Roman Numerals
13. Ratio and Proportion
14. Percentages
15. Profit and Loss
16. Simple Interest
17. Compound Interest
18. Discount and Markup
19. Average
20. Mean, Median, and Mode
21. Range
22. Probability
This is a short list but is filled with a large amount of content to learn. It is atleast put you in 7th - 8th grade level. I didn't add geometry here because I feel like school textbooks are sufficient for that. I still recommend you to go through the school textbooks anyway (I am an Indian so I don't know how education works there).
@@Jesse.1776. Here are some tips to learn maths-
1) Formulas- Have a small note book to write formulas or paste it on your wall. You can use apps like Anki cards to revise.
2)Derivations- This is honestly not to important because they are not practical but if you can go through them if you want to have a deep understanding. I suggest u to make a logical process and apply whenever u see them.
3)Practice- This is the most important step.
Books like RD Sharma (6- 12 grade)and RS Aggarwal(6-12) are great if you want to sharpen specific math areas. They almost provide books for any age and level. They are also filled with many practice questions and explanation but I don't recommend them if you don't have much time. If you can dedicate time for learning maths without pressure then u can go for it. Also check books related to education system in your country, would be more helpful imo. That's it. Happy learning and do ask me if you have any doubts.
is arithmetic too basic ? that's where I want to start from but then again
I don't know
What it's the different with the another one (pre-algebra)?

It does seem to be designed for children though. They should release a grown up design.
Unfortunately, this book doesn't have a single proof. Matns is not all about remembering formulae and figuring out the answers. Proofs teach us how to think like a mathematician.
Proofs will be too much for middle Schoolers don't you think
@@lakshganesh4776 Nah, modern education system is becoming too light. By grade 8, they used to start teaching congruency proofs.
