one thing that always bothered me so much about this show was how the angels and devils would compete for the right to make the first move on their human, but it was almost always the one who made the second move that won in the end, since they would reverse what the first one did!
Yeah, once I knew who won the challenge. I knew that the second mover was going to win overall. I love angel's friends but this was one of the few grips I have with it.
I WAS LITERALLY JUST THINKING THAT ALWAYS & JUST NOW AGAIN AS I'M REWATCHING IT FOR GOD KNOWS HOW MANY TIMES !!!
For their immortality. I always took it that they only have long lifespans, not that they're invulnerable. And or since the MC'S are only 99% Angels and devils. They don't have the same invulnerability as their superiors.
And the reason why Raf's mom was kidnapped? If I remember correctly, even though she was human, Raf's mom was highly respected by both angels and devils, she was essentially a national treasure to them.
So when she was kidnapped, Cassidy and Kubral probably left a few clues that would point to her kidnapping clearly being done by supernatural means. As a result the angels and devils blamed each other.
Real angels and demons are immortal thou. Never heard of this show though
Aah, Angel's Friends... I like this series. The only true negative point is the slowess of the series (like, the characters can have a conversation about what to do while an potential danger is about to kill them) but the writing is well done and cohesive.
I also thought Darkly was a fanmade project the first time I saw the trailer but it was a real project by the creator of Angel's Friends that, sadly (?), never went far than this trailer pilot...
I probably shouldn’t have trusted Wikipedia to be my main source of information

I am honestly glad that they didn’t do a live action mature version. I don’t always like it when they take magical girl or “girly“ TV shows and try to make them a dark mature fantasy for older audiences. I’m one of the majority that like uplifting light themes of the shows bring but there gonna be a bit maturity in it. Doesn’t always have to be super dark and angsty. And considering what happened to Winx club that just proves my point.
I agree, but done well, I feel like this show would be more suited to the dark concept than winx
Fr, I have had on my mind, that they should have at least found new animators, and change the animation style, or even get a reboot out of a show. The fact they dropped it, didn’t finish it is making me upset. And hearing about the live version makes me say just NO. It wouldn’t be the same or look probably even look good
But Raf defeated Reina because she is an angelic star, which she is because she was made an angel and wasn’t born like this(implying that she isn’t the first one)and her powers had to be stronger than normal to overpower her human nature, not because of the prism fly. Also the powers are all tied to who they are. Raf has a quick temper and is protective that’s why her powers are speed base. Uriè are nature based, Dolce are technology based etc… also Angelie was kidnapped because she was special, she was a human with powers(her telepathy) and was respected by both parties.
Maybe the Angels and Demons are like the Gems from Steven Universe. They can't die because of age like humans, but they are still vulnerable to injuries and diseases.
The only way a gem could die is when gemstone shatters completely
Angel was so iconic we just deserved a season 3.
For shows like this, it's a given that the creators didn't think things through. There is usually a writer's bible of do's and do nots that the writers have to obey to have internal consistency, like the rules of a game. It didn't really have one, or they were still in the process of making things up when the show got the green light, and then it was too late.
Also one thing I forgot to mention is the thing with their ages. I think time just works differently. Basically, 200+ years on earth is the equivalent to 15 years to the angelic and diabolic realms.
So it works like this, angels and devils age like regular humans when they're young. But due to their immortality, when they reached a certain age, they start to age slowly for the next few centuries.
What confused me the most was why Raf and Sophis (if that's how their names are spelt) would need to take the path of metamorphosis if the Libra of the Veto was destroyed. They wouldn't have anything stopping them from pursuing their love for each other. They wouldn't be committing a sacrilege cause there's nothing stopping them. Am I the only one who noticed this?
Thank you for saying that there are 9 different angel species! I am sick of seeing hybrid of Thrones and Seraphims what people consider "biblicaly acccurate" (sorry, I am just myth/legend nerd haha)
To this day my favourite character from the show is Kabale and I still ship Sulfus and Kabale. I liked watching the forbidden love of Ref and Sulfus as a kid but their personalities fit better.

I remember I’ve binged watch this show a few times. Just the ones funny small thing I remember is how either the Angels or the Devils I keep saying “for once I agree“ a lot XD. Although it did have some pretty good material for what it was with each season, having more than 40 something episodes, that’s pretty impressive. And I kind of liked how the devils are just mean but they’re not pure evil, and they’re more just rivals to the angels way of thinking.
On the other hand I’m glad you touched on a lot of these topics, because I was pretty confused watching the series specially about the veto. because we saw main couple in other characters touching a lot of times so I was thinking why isn’t veto put in to play in about the sacrilege with Ralph and sofas? I guess being taken back to their home dimensions would be pretty bad but still probably should’ve been a little more earth shattering like Rena’s or Sy and Teako. I definitely would’ve love to see a season three with the others going to the next level and the main couple walking through the path to see if they made it, or if taeko eventually found sy.
The last Second Series of Angel's Friends Raf and Sulfus were planning to walk through the Path of Metamorphosis to become humans which we don't know if they have succed. While Blue frees Reina in Limbo but we don't have any information of why Blue works for two Golden School's principals imposters in the first place and the connection between her and Reina. If there was the released of the Third Series of Angel's Friends then we would know the whole story which would have make a lot sense.

Me too, especially people from USA who are aware of this show make me happy, since I found out about this show from my cousin who lives in Ukraine. And this show was super popular in European countries, and Asia. Seeing other ppl know about this show in different countries make me really happy! It seems underrated
I did not watch this as a child but I heard it was a great show and I loved it, also kingdomorange2 could make a video of rating the monster high voices actors, or the the Winx club voices actors because I want to know what are your thoughts 😇

I remember this show, I thought it was fine. Though even as a kid, I wonder why Raf like Sulfus, I found him so ugly

Thing that I'm confused about is how Reina the only person who succeeded at stealing soul portrait. You'd think that someone before her would attempt to do it and fail. But I guess they needed to have an explanation for why restrictive rules were put on the portrait room and how Reina succeeded on her own
Okay i think the comics based of the tv show and season kind of explaineed sence Raf isn't a pure angel, that's why they werent harshly punished. Plus there are two angels friends comics one pre show, which is completley diffrent and one the made during and post show which is well more inline with the show.
There is an anime similar to ''Angel's Friends'', also about angels and demons, called ''Wedding Peach''. Why won't you tell few words about this mahou shoujo series?
Thank you for making this video! I still remembered and love Angel's Friends even to this day! There are some things in this series that I couldn't even understand until I watched it! Honestly, I wanted to watch 3rd season but sadly it was never officially mentioned, and it's been over a decade, so it's been left as a hangover which left me fuming! Still, it's one of my favorite childhood shows :')
This is probably the show I've rewatched the most in my entire life. If someone hasn't watched it yet, I recommend it at 100%.💙😇💙
(And since now I know it's so similar to Sailor moon, I'll definitely watch that too)
Sulfus was a hottie
Not going to lie I did enjoy watching Angels friends back then. Not to mention I was kind of hoping they would get a season 3. But let's be for real remember how they did the live action Winx club on Netflix. And I don't really need to explain Sabrina the teenage witch.
I remember watching this series back in my senior year of high school and the spring dance episodes were my favorite.

@@kingdomorange2 that would explain a lot also i heard some where dont know where that the studio that made huntik ( rainbow was the name i thought of the studio ) and that they also made winx club i heard that some where maybe it was from you or someone else but just asking and it explained a lot and the animation sort of looks the same from like season4 or 5 of winx club the animation ya know.
I think in this universe immortality simply means not aging, however since angels and devils have human needs we can assume that they can be killed by fatal wounds or poison.
Secondly, demons are supossed to drive people to bad desicions or even crimes, however it's in their best interest to keep morale alive so that they could do more evil in future. BUT some angel's and devils probably can reason with each other and let angels save mortals(yet again, its beneficial to both parties in longrun).
I think they didn't get into to much trouble is because for them it was basically like a prophecy waiting to happen
The Angel's friends movie is poorly scripted because we never learn if Tyco and Sai have been reunited at last or if they finall achieve to become human at last either.
Yeah, that’s what I’ve been wondering too!!! because based on what I remember, Tyco went back into the door, and did he ever get reunited with Sai??? We never found out again :(
I feel like Tyco and Sai were also one of the characters that were underrated by the fandom, I’m not seeing a lot of edits, artwork of them. I really loved the fact that they genuinely loved each other, and their forbidden love, the fact it took place during Aztecs time. I loved their outfits too
I though that the point was they failed to do it, I guess.
I thought I was the only one who knew that show sulfus was too fine I hated raf sm 😭 reina was too scary for a kids cartoon and malakai being Rafs father WAS THEE GREATEST PLOT TWIST for a cartoon and the movie was soooo good like I wouldn't mind Netflix making a live action series of Angel's friends
It's nice that this series is still remembered, I still watch it and I still love it, yes, it has some notorious errors but hey, nothing is perfect (I love sulfus and kabale, I feel like they stand out more xd)

ahhh, my fav series ever!! ive been rewatching it for the past 10 years at least 2 times a year lol (im almost 20 😭) and the fact that raf and sulfus' kiss didnt cause an earthquake like with taiko and sai and like with reina because she was born a human, and it wasnt that bad apparently lmao

damn this show was so good, looking forward to a re-watch asap.. what i really like tho is that its one of the few cartoons that has balls to talk about religion! Angels, devils & sacrilege? this one was really special and mature.. Wanted a live action :/
P.S: besides winx, angels friends and huntik were my fav cartoons, sad that they got canceled after only two seasons with so much potential!
They should just remake it but with the same story, the story is amazing but the animation is meh like their powers don't even seem to do much damage 😭 (and they should keep the names of everyone but change some of the back storys like the veto

i think aging is not a thing of "mortality", in the bible, its also about gaining exprience of life and widsom, so maybe angels are created "new" and they become mature about the world like us then just never end. angels are created creature, unlike God, so they have a begining (sempiternality), only god dont have a beginning and was always here (eternality), and humans die (mortality), and also aging is a process that allow you and your body to build, maybe it shouldnt be about having white gair but having an evoluated form when you become stronger years after years

5:46 yeah I do find it ridiculous too, it seems unrealistic.
Especially, there was a scene where in season 2, where Alexander invited sweet to dance, he gave her the cup and she drank the poison. And then the girl pulled Alexander away because she wanted to dance with him, and Sulfus clone reappears right away, and tells her I got rid of my friend. It seemed so unrealistic because he appeared in a few seconds as Alexander to tell sweet he got rid of his friend. Like how the heck do you believe someone saying this, after a few seconds passed that quick?

Me too, and I somehow forgot about this show. But coming back in 2024 to see if season 3 came out, got me disappointment that it never did
not from the series, but: It was animated in North Korea, but NK hates everyone, so why would Italy even ask NK to animate a cartoon, if they hated Italians?

Yes! you can love something but also have your problems with it. l watched it when l was 12 l believe and even back than l knew it had its problems. but that dosnt stop me from loving it!

It's Raf, she's named after the archangel Raphael. Other than Dolce, the angels are named after angels.

I add a fact maybe unknown: Angel's Friends is first of all a italian comic serie (sadly, it is unfinished)! In the cartoon they changed a lot regarding plot, topic, style and characters, starting with the age: in the comic the are pre-teens with an age range 10-13 years. But they changed to create something that could go "against" or just following the popularity of Winx. In fact they hired the same stylist team of Winx (I'm taking the info from an interview with one of the chara designer). 🤣
And fun fuct: one of the main inspo for Sulfus was Ryuk from Death Note.
