  • -Seating appears mostly complete, including areas which will have some obstructed views of the field
    -A sod playing field has just been installed and it will be bordered around the perimeter of the stadium by a warning track type of dirt
    -Exterior entrance to the stadium is still undergoing work and glass windows appear to be going up
    along the south facade of the building.
    The LA Coliseum will open in August of 2019 at the start of both USC and the LA Rams football season.

    I was in the hospital for 2 months after being in a car accident 4yrs ago. I would watch this video almost everyday in anticipation for the Saints coming to play the Rams that next season with my brothers.
    Watching this for the 1st time since gets me emotional. Great video. The music brings me to tears.

    First of all, I'm happy a stadium built for the 1932 Olympics is still standing and functional. The columns at one end are still awe-inspiring. It looks to me like they put more luxury boxes in and screwed over the folks who wanted to have 50-yd-line seats in the upper section. I'll bet this reduces the total seating capacity which might not be a bad thing for some events. The wider pitch will also mean more soccer events.

    • @CJ87317
      @CJ87317 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wasn't actually built for the '32 Olympics. They did hope to bid on the Olympics once it was designed, but LA hadn't even been awarded the Olympics when the stadium was finished.

      Somebody will buy those tickets in that obstructed section, a true fan or somebody who just want to be there for a Rams' game or a die hard U.S.C. fan. There is a market for everything even for obstructed seats and I will not be surprised if they cost no less than $150 each. I was going to go to a concert once at the Microsoft theater in L.A. and there was a section that was obstructed by some pillars and they were in the upper area and each seat was selling for $195 and those promoting the concert let the customers know before purchasing the tickets that there was almost no view of the stage from that section and still that entire section was sold out. Some people just want to be part of the ambiance and say that they were there for a certain event.

I honestly think that if that was done back then by the city of L.A. the Raiders would have never left L.A. What a historic coliseum, the home of the Summer Olympic games twice, the former home of the L.A. Dodgers when they relocated to L.A., the home of the Rams twice and the former home of my beloved Raiders and is still standing after several earthquakes and it looks that it will last longer than the Roman Coliseum. It will host the opening or closing ceremonies of the Summer Olympic games for the third time in 2028. What other city and coliseum in the world have that kind of history and record? Building this tower without noticing an "x" amount of seats being partly or mainly obstruct views for any event is unacceptable. I bet those who pay a lot and found out that their seats are those seats, should get a discount or a total refund. The structure itself is terrible. If i was the architect for this stadium, i would've design it around the stadium like the NFL packers. Still sacrificing seats but it'll avoid any obstruction.

This atrocity of tower that they builded inside the bowl will hinder the visibility of the fan for any type of event, especially if it will be a football 🏈 game. The fan experience for the ones seating on those areas will be a bad one they will see only half of the field. If you cover those seat with a tarp will clearly state that they didn’t plan the construction well. They should have built it outside of the bowl of the 🏟. I mean if you are going to touch a landmark like LA Coliseum at least make something that make it better not worse.

      The stadium was built in 1923 for the 1932 Olympics. There used to be a track for track and field events. There also used to have seating in the peristyle end of the stadium for football games but sitting 40 yards from the playing field for an endzone view was horrible and later replaced with that tent/bleachers structure you mentioned. The poles are flag poles, during the Olympics the poles flew the flags of the participating nations.

    Not a fan of this one bit, the Coliseum did need new seats but this new corporate/premium area ruins an iconic US stadium. It blocks hundreds of seats and looks terrible. Also, they'll have to rip up the bottom seats nearest the field in 8 years time for the Olympics running track. They should have done it like Rose Bowl, Michigan Stadium, Notre Dame Stadium and Arrowhead in Kansas with the expensive seats and press box on top at the back of the stand.

    1) why not center the football field on the ground? 2) because the field isn't center neither are the new suites and luxury seats 3) those "obstructed seats" are terrible who do they expect to sit there 4) the drawing look better than the product 5) how much will it take to fix the obvious errors?

    • @flowersnake1017
      @flowersnake1017 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      the renovation looks awful but
      in order to the football field ij the center, they would of had to build temp, removal.etc stands on both sides.
      i dont think USC cares about those fans, they care about the rich boosters

    Money well wasted on a flawed design... Wait until they tear out half of the lower seating for the Olympic track. The press box side will look even more ridiculous then....

    • @miri9885
      @miri9885 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @A A After the last Olympics they dug the field lower to add approx. 25-30 rows of seats closer to the football field... For the next Olympics these rows "will" have to be eliminated. The field is too narrow as it is now. Look at the tunnel you can see the addition to where the track needs to be.

    • @miri9885
      @miri9885 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @A A Respectfully, I been attending USC football games since 1981, and there was 25-30 rows added after the 1984 Olympics. No disrespect, but watch and see...

    No offense but the stadium still looks like shit and very ancient like really outdated. The stadium should've been fully redone similar to Soldier Field in Chicago back in 2003. Anytime stadium with a bowl feature is outdated and needs to get redone. You guys spent all of that money when it will need to be redone again in 10-20 years time.

      USC is a private university. Its not their responsibility to fix road, sidewalks and feed the homeless. There is more than enough money in L.A to fix all those issues but they are not going to get fix and stay fix with that crappy L.A. mayor in charge.

    I thought this was a joke. Who ever designed this and who ever gave the go ahead to build it should be sentenced to going to every event there and sit in an obstructed seat. What an awful rebuild. They will be taking it back down within 10 years as crowd size drops and they dtart loosing money. It's an awful stadium now.
