I will happily do so. Anything with Claire is wonderful. Having now heard Claire, Erin and Anna sing. I'm so jealous of anybody who can see these ladies perform live. Let alone meet them at the stage door. They're not only rediculously talented and beautiful. They seem so sweet and sincere. :)

One of the most harrowing deliveries and vocally refined renditions I have ever heard of of this classic piece. Just wait and see, Claire is going to take the world by storm!

I've only heard a few song clips from Claire and she is already ranking high on my "Favourite Christine" list! Wonderful actress and angelic singer. Not to mention she herself is beautiful. I hope she can perform in America someday. :)

What a desperate and powerfully hit dramatic climax over these orchestrations. I'm breathless.

Song Thief Hello again to you my friend. I just have to say I am so very sorry for not spotting your message on my discussion section sooner. I hadn't seen any notifications of those messages and only checked that area out today. I hope you are well and just to let you know. I have replied to that message. So if you wish to continue even though it's been over two months. I'd very much like to pick up where we left off.
And did you ever have a chance to purchase Claire's album? If so, what do you think of it? :)

Dearest, I'm delighted to see you again! No worries!
I have On Stage. Claire has a vocal weight that most of our sopranos today lack, I am with you and the armies of phans who do not want a Disney Princess Christine. Her timbre has a mature color and there is a concentration in her singing.
It was a very elegant selection of songs for the artist she is. I thought of very young Julie Andrews in Cinderella after listening to her. Perhaps its the aristocratic diction that Australian singers seem to have innately? Claire, Anthony, Anna.
I am very happy with your recommendation. Also for you Joanna list. I tried to send you a message around Christmas on my old account... but I think it was swallowed in the youtube abyss somewhere. I was so impressed with Celia Keenan Bolger that I tracked down her whole show with Hugh Panaro. Would you be interested in seeing that Sweeney Todd?
I'm glad I have you back!

Song Thief Hello indeed Sam! What a pleasure to hear from you after some time. Feels longer then it is.
Claire has kept that classical soprano sound alive. At one point I was certain it was on the verge of extinction. At least it seems to be dwindling rapidly in America. A true crime! I can not completely blame audiences though and their taste. If musical producers and the rest of the creative team members are not casting them in the iconic roles or writing such scores in new productions. How can the mainstream audience grow to appreciate the sound that now sounds to foreign to the conventional world of music? You have to put them center stage (metaphorically and literally) if the world is to be re-acquainted with the grace and beauty of the classical soprano vocals. While yes there will always be skepticism (if not cruelty due to ignorance and bias) there is the equal chance of a certain group of people who had no idea what they were missing. And embrace it with open arms! Musical producers have to be willing to take that chance! Claire and who knows how many other talents are craving and rightfully deserve the attention.
Claire has proven time and again you can in fact be emotionally invested in a character deeply and still focus just as hard on delivering the correct vocal technique. You do not need to sacrifice one over the other. A true vocal artist realizes they go hand in hand.
I think it's a combination of her backround in opera at her university (the same said for Anna and Anthony on distributing a richly textured vocal) her desire live and breathe the characters who from period pieces,(a fun challenge of stepping into the mind of someone over 100 years ago) and a determination to mirror in a reflection of them still being accessible to contemporary audiences. This is such a rare breed now. But the Aussies thankfully adore this and relish the task.
There is one american soprano though who has not forgotten this and grew up striving to do her inspirations justice. Have I ever told you about Kelli O'Hara? If not, check out the video of her right now singing I Danced All Night from the specialized performance of My Fair Lady in 2007. Type in her name and the title of the song and you will see the video by Elphie Glinda. I hope you enjoy her. :)
YAY! Thrilled to hear you are pleased with this purchase. My hope for a sophomore album is she will venture into arias from operettas and authentic opera. I once heard an audio of her singing Poor Wandering One from the production of Pirates of Penzance. (hasd since vanished without a trace) I desperately hope this pops up again on this site. People "REALLY" need to hear this young lady as Mabel. She's magnificent! Her coloratura notes are flawless.
There's a video of Hugh Panaro in Sweeney Todd?! Oh yes please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remind me again though since it's been a long time. Who were your favorite performers to tackle the rediculously difficult Green Finch and Linnet Bird?
Celia has not lost her place whatsoever for me. It almost makes me livid I can not find enough of her soprano repertoire on the net. At least for free.
So glad to see you too!

A stunning rendition by Claire! Absolutely lovely! I now wish someone would put up a bootleg of her performance as Christine in 'Love Never Dies.' FYI, for those that don't know, Claire was Anna O'byrne's understudy for the Australian LND. There are some audio bootlegs of Anna in LND floating around, so I'm hoping one of Claire surfaces soon too!

Yes, Claire is amazing! I will consider her on my favourite list. But...what happened to Raoul's part in Wandering Child? This is a live performance, isn't it? o.O

They were talking about when Claire and Erin Hasan understudied the role of Christine in Love Never Dies. Not The Phantom of the Opera. Also for the record. All of these ladies remain great friends. Don't believe me. They still tweet each other to wish the other well on their current projects.

I really am not trying to bust your bubble I swear. I've been searching for videos or audios that feature Claire or Erin Hasan (other Christine undertstudy) for several months. So far my search has been unnsuccessful. :(

    That's a shame! :(
It looks like the bootleggers decided that if Anna wasn't performing, then it wasn't worth it to tape the understudies! What a waste! Understudies are often every bit as talented as the main leads. Ah well, I hope that if you ever come across an audio bootleg of Claire Lyon, you'd post it on youtube.

why are you fighting over Claire and Anna? This was Claire's audio bootleg as Christine (Lead, not understudy) on the World Tour of POTO in Manila. In Manila, she's the lead and Emily Lynn was the understudy. the issue here should be why are there no bootlegs of Emily? Maybe because Claire has more shows than her.

she really sings better than Anna
