Neeraj Chopra was employed in the army, Dhoni in Railways. They had a backup plan. Once you have a backup plan you should certainly chase your dream. But otherwise lakhs of kids come to Mumbai to become a Bollywood star and a handful make it. What happens to the rest? They are unable to get even a middle class life.
Do not endorse blanket risk aversion to comply with societal expectations BUT a plan to manage the risks must be in place.

Completely agree. And moreover most of the time, children over assess themselves..... I know one boy of my family friends who thought he had GREAT talent for guitar and singing.. He was a brilliant student but by the time he reached 12 standard, studies suffered badly because of his craze for music.. uncle somehow managed to put him in a hotel management course which he joined resentfully thinking that field would take him to big cities where music opportunities would be great.. he went to Bombay after somehow managing to complete the course (his heart was not in that course)..... Got job in an average type of hotel .. tried a lot ( and still trying) in the film industry but nothing much happened. His mediocre job is the sole support as he has almost passed middle age and not married....a beautiful and brilliant life going waste.....

Very well said. I am sure @LifeTak tried to break the barriers of society but they can always improvise :)
Please add the career back up plan to this video and then it becomes 100/100 jhakkas video

@@nilimamisra2741 This is true. A similar situation is in my relative's house too. A cousin almost spoiled his life on drumming. Over assessing is harmful. End of the day, we need money to live and dreams alone can't feed us. These social media videos are quite far from reality.

@Gauravi Pal If you really love your dream and going all the way for your dream then you should stick with that. You have to successsful one day definitely. You don't any nonsense back up plans. Even God can't able to stop you for achieving your dream if you have the real love and patience for your dream.

When I was 17 I started writing and it became my passion afterwards. My parents initially did not know about this and I did not got their support. But my teacher and soul sister used to support me a lot. In 2022 my father got to know that I write in The Times of India and about writing. He supported me throughout and continues to do so to follow my passion for writing even if the whole world is against me ..

Choosing passion can sometimes become a wrong decision when we don't succeed in that and that time we feel that maybe we should've listened to our parents back then.
But I guess maybe it's better to follow the crowd or our parents initially and then fund our passion. Truth is we've to work hard either ways
Best wishes for your future endeavors.

Dono hi sahi hote hai hum v aur hmare parents hum tab sahi hai agar amara decision rational and correct ho . Hume dono sath me ape and Ape parents ke sapno ko lekar chalna chahiye. For example: We should make every thing by plan wise if plan A failed then we may succeed in plan B

If you are regretting your decision that doesn't means you chose a wrong one. Be it going for parents dreams or your passion both the paths are tough. It depends on the individual themselves to not give up and keep on trying till the end. Afterall that's what I guess we are made for.

I completely agree with this subject that parents support is required in fulfilling or chasing one's dream or else the path gets really difficult. One should have freedom to do what they want.

Very nice clip! Parents cannot have a tight rope around their children's neck.
My two brothers and I had extremely supportive parents... they were our guides and mentors. Themselves exceptionally highly educated for their times (between the two of them, they had earned 8 advanced degrees in sociology, economics, literature and medicine), they encouraged us to pursue our own dreams, without dictating their preferences on us.
When I chose Engineering as my preferred field, which was then (and still to a lesser extent) thought to be an "exclusively man's field," my parents were thrilled for me. After finishing college and earning some professional experience, when, as a 22-yo, I came to the US, they 100% backed me up, including lining up financial support for me to get my Master's and then a Doctorate.
My two brothers chose Medicine and Computer Science, respectively, as their preferred fields. And, my parents were there for them as well. Until we all managed to get merit scholarships, they fully financially supported us, which I knew even then wasn't easy. They neither complained about it nor did they brag about. They just did it, and did it joyfully.
    🙏
Without putting undue pressure on us, from early on, they had only a few expectations from us:
    1. Excel in your studies. Always aim for the best and the highest performance ... no matter what the outcome. There is no greater satisfaction than having given it your all.
    2. Carefully choose your vocation...It must be something that you would enjoy doing 10 hours a day. There is a difference between "making a living" and "living life";
    3. Your chosen field also must be something much in demand. A satisfying job that pays well makes life easy. In the worldly sense, you, as a professional, are worth only what someone is willing to pay for your services.
    4. Work in a field for which you have aptitude, interest and competence. --Mediocrity is unacceptable;
-- Engaging in a job that you are half interested in, is a torture; and
-- Not being paid well enough will make life much harder.
    5. In spite of all the careful planning, if you still end up making bad decisions, don't worry. That is not the end of the world. Learn from your mistakes, reevaluate your course of action, make alternate plans, and give it another try. Life is a great teacher.
I thought all parents were like our parents until I saw my friends' parents, and those of our neighbors and cousins, and realized how extraordinary were our parents!
They were an exception rather than a norm.
Wish more folks were as fortunate as the three of us.
    🙏❤🙏

In the beginning my parents didn't support when I quit my corporate job and started my holistic work but I didn't give up.. After one year when I picked up, they started to accept and now it's 6 years they are so proud of me. My advice children should also be strong and should not give up. Don't just blame parents. Believe yourself 🥰

Actually, it's true that we, middle class parents want a safe and tried out route for our children...we tell them it's for their own good because we are so involved with their lives and we had to work so hard to get a comfortable life for them....we don't want to see them fall, make mistakes, rise up again , dust off their pants or want to wait to see their real smile when they achieve something that they really and truly want. But can you really blame us for that?? Our overtly populated country, with meaningless competition, societal pressure, where links work better than real talent ...makes things near to impossible for most.

That's very clever how you blamed societal pressure and an overpopulated country for your fears and insecurities about your child. As they showed in the video, the country was overpopulated even during MS Dhoni and Amitabh Bachchan's time. Middle class, upper class or lower class, we need to let our children explore and find their own identity instead of pushing our dreams and expectations on them just because we think it is 'safe and tested'

you know what you are calling as societal pressure is actually parent's overdramatic pressure.
Its not about parents want good and comfortable life for their children. They only want is money money and money. They think if my child is not earning tonnes of money he or she is not successful.
Even my lots of friend's father are like if you will not take science stream i will throw you out of my house. They wanted to pursue humanities stream.
But you know societal pressure is not any different thing. Its actually parent's pressure.

Father is also right. First she should complete her MBA. Back plan is a must. Otherwise, lot of risk is involved.

All parents want to support their child but they become practical. Today due to social media every teenage is on glamour and high 5 life Majority dream of money/actor/singer ( like parents go for doctor/engineer/MBA ) but hardwork is ❔ Those who work, their results are visible and automatically all start supporting

Only few chasing dreams succeed not everyone...There are so many factors apart from support from parents...if we don't have backups to balance life..it may really become difficult to survive...we can see so many sports people inspiteof having talent living their life injured , jobless
