Leica Super-Elmar-M 18mm f/3.8 ASPH is the best decision in Leica wide photography you can make. I use it on CL and SL2, Super-Elmar-M 18mm f/3.8 ASPH is supersharp, no distortion, lightweight, incredible colors, fantastic for night skies and no flares! I had before Leica TL11-23 and return it back, good lens, but I don't need crop lens anymore, I had Super-Angulon R 21mm and return it back, OMG barrel distortion, no sharpness, wired night colors, huge size and weight. New lenses like Super-Elmar-M 18mm f/3.8 ASPH built for new era of digital photography so enjoy it!
Leica Super Elmar M 18mm f/3.8 was such an outdated, obsolete lens that Leica Camera had to DISCONTINUE it. Good thing you have it, now you can brag about how good it is. :)
@@LeicaReview Keep doing your great reviews Oz! Leica Super-Elmar M 18mm f/3.8 is still on Leica website, I just got it last month from Leica LA store. I love it, doing lots of architectural and sky photography, it's also great for classic cars photography, to show all that chrome. instagram.com/edward_grad_art/
Thank you again for this very nice review! Leica lenses are renowned for their rendering. From a manufacturers perspective rectilinear wide angle lenses are very difficult to make. For wide angle M lenses even more due to the short flange distance. i am very surprised of the rendering even in TH-cam resolution. The problem with Leica is that it can be very addictive so watch your bank account... i am of the opinion Leica make exquisite lenses and once you are used to it. It is very difficult to take a step back. When pixel peeping in LR and you enable or disable lens correction you will understand what I mean. When I do this with my Summicron 50 or even my Summilux 35 I hardly see any difference. I am a Leica M user because of the simplicity, great output of the system. I am using different camera systems and always go back to Leica regarding the rendering of the system. For sports or action I use different equipment although I can manage some good pictures using focussing techniques from the pre AF area.
Thank you for the review. How do you compare this lens to the WATE @18mm?
What is opinion mounting with adapter for RF to leica M mount using it with Canon R5 ( I do understand manual focusing :)
