Love Roger’s fingers in that first sketch and in your imaginary world the colour choice is magical. Such an inspirational video Drew. Thank you. You are letting so many other artists out of their cages.
These sketches are really lovely! I like the form and style. There's no care of mundane details and it feel so free and therapeutic. Excellent work Andrew!
Oh my goodness, I don’t know how I almost missed this video! So glad I didn’t, your work is just so magical! Thank you for sharing and inspiring me in my sketchbook journey. It is always a pleasure👏🏽
Another beautiful video and valuable insight into your practise! Thanks for sharing Drew, I find these videos so relaxing and inspiring to watch! So many great sketches
Always great too see these sketchbooks, really makes me want to do stuff. Love how much life and energy there is in everything and will to experiment :) cheers
Thanks Matt. Are you going to make more videos? Or taking a break? "Life and energy" - I think that's something I have to nurture in life/heart and that just spills over into the art. Keep it fresh, healthy. Coz the art is just an expression of what's in my life.
@@Drewscape-art That's a great way to look at art, and to keep t going like that is cool, refreshing for sure :) Yes! I do have a halloween video idea I hope to make, we'll see how it goes :)
I appreciate the experimental nature of your sketchbook. It's not a "showcase" of your best work; it's where you play. I don't play enough in my sketchbooks... at least not in the summer when I want to do as much urban sketching outdoors as possible. In the winter, I play more, but still not as much as I'd like to. You DO inspire me!
I do like the sound of doing as much urban sketching as possible. Wish I could join you all over there. And yes sketch books are more of a training ground to test out what’s possible. Playing is a good word for it:) I suppose a best of showcase could be possible if I take the best from each sketchbook and put them together. Hmm! Oh and it may not be too obvious. But I wore my pencil wedding ring in this video:)
It’s a Tachikawa tank nib. And yes it comes with it. www.jetpens.com/Tachikawa-Tank-Master-Dip-Pen-Nib-Maru-Mapping-Pack-of-5/pd/4576 I should put the link in the description too
Thanks. I can and sometimes do, depending on the project. Though my default personal colour choices seem to be on the muted side. But the challenge of trying out brighter colours does sound fun. You can see brighter illustrators for my client work here: drewscape.net
Thank you my friend from Athens! 😂 I think these papers might be nicer than the papers I usually use for my handmade sketchbooks. Maybe I should buy nicer paper!
@@Drewscape-art Hm.. I wouldn't say that I die for the Hahnemuhle papers. The company offers a huge range of papers but it doesn't offer sample packs. So I bought two of their range, the Bamboo Mixed Media one and the Brittania one but I wouldn't say that I was particularly impressed by the quality of these papers. They are overpriced for their quality and not that much better than the Canson and Fabriano equivalents. Hahnemuhle are German papers, the Cansons are French, the Fabrianos are the Italian ones and the Talens are the Dutch ones( in order to know what we are talking about). Anyway... it is not a bad idea to try nicer paper but it is not a pre requirement for you drawing and painting style because you don't use water media in order to need the highest quality of paper. I buy expensive papers only when I get a commission even though I work mostly with watercolors. Otherwise I'm sketching and practicing on any kind or quality of paper and I'm experimenting a lot.
"mistakes means decisions are being made" thanks as always Andrew!

Stay happy everyone:)
