Yeah, Ape Escape 2 had also something special to it. It's just that the soundtracks of 1 and 3 were never really "calm" and hyped you up all the time (which I kinda prefer tbh), while 2 had those more calm songs.
It's a fine soundtrack, but I was still disappointed that it didn't have the same chaotic energy of the first game, the whole experience feels a bit deflated because of it even though the game itself is better in so many other ways like the hub area, monkey AI and level design

If some "high quality ripper" sees this comment, I think Snowball Ski Slope (00:42:04) is very fitting for a "Snowy Version", if you know what I mean... ;) 42:33 - Fushigi da ne Ima no kimochi...
I'm really surprised they didn't go with Soichi for the OST on this. The music in this is completely different from the vibe of the original ape escape.
