When Wang Hao started to learn TT as a child, his father was the first teacher. Wang's father told Wang to use RPB instead of traditional blocking. After being selected for the national team, Wang Hao's coach further upgraded his RPB. Wang Hao , the god of RPB (Reverse Penhold Backhand)! Made in China !
timoboll have phobia with wang hao.. many times they got played but wang hao always the winner.. but timoboll was a great player, your always be the number 1 for me..=)
Looks like the analysts on the Chinese team came up with good advice. Wang Hao really exploited Timo's weakness by forcing him to block on his BH so much. It's good to see Wang Hao back in top form too! Timo has to switch his grip every time he transitions between FH to BH or vice versa, which forces him to be much more passive in his blocking and limits his control over the rallies. That said, it takes a player of Wang Hao's caliber to exploit this weakness effectively.
grats to wang hao, extremely well played game. i love watching him. i think i like watching timo more, you may see him frustrated, but i can't think of a time when he's ever shown unsportsmanlike behavior
Wang Hao here shows the importance of training. No doubt back at the team house, there are at least 2-3 lesser players who train everyday to imitate Boll's every move, so that Wang can get as much practice against Boll's tricks and steps as he needs. On the other hand, Boll is 'alone' as far as that goes, and his coach Rosskopf has not fared well against Wang in the past either.
Wang Hao must be a pretty frustrating player to play against as he doesn't really have any real weakness despite using penhold grip. That reverse backhand is absolutely lethal and in this match he was clearly on fire.
timo lo tiene todo, juega limpio gran vision de juego inteligencia y como en este partido el sabe perder ES EL JUGADOR MAS QUERIDO DE TODO EL TENIS DE MESA Or Table Tennis
Problem here was Timo not trusting his BH enough. Therefore, he always turned to pivot resulting in not only time loss, but also a loss in pressure against Wang. Wang exploited this marvelously, winning like half of his points with this tactic. In the end, the high pressure game from Wang was just too much to handle for Timo. Often, it was almost painful to watch the difference in level between the two.
@pprruti He has like a 30% win rate against them though, that's pathetic that he's the best of the rest and yet he has a losing record to all the Chinese...
@IngopienGer Timo's BH focuses more on spin than speed. It's the most consistent of all top players, but you are right that he seldom uses it to finish points like, say, Ma Long, Wang Hao, or Kreanga.
Like most European players, Timo's forehand is problematic, not strong enough. Often, Wang Hao just used his forehand to oppress Timo's backhand. Timo lost many points in this circumstance.
Great game by Wang Hao, nice ball placement, otherhand, bad day for boll... by the way, those somebody know where can I get those wang hao shoes?... or at least tell me wich brand are then.... (:
@AMYVOICE looks like he hurt himself. when he was walking, he shifted his weight off the left leg. and he seemed defeated from the beginning so it's not like he was losing then gave up
Timo Boll was very a little bit angry and totally speechless at the end. when he showed his emotion on his face and movements he already lost the game.
@Opalance I don't agree with you but i respect your opinion though... Timo Boll is the Best non chinesse player that can beat them, and has beaten them, regardless of anything... He is one of the best players aswell in Topspin vs Topspin play.
good boll lost, now i can say... boll had hard time executing rallies. some say, all you have to do I get the ball to the other side of the table. But, you also have to get the other guy to miss. difference between good player and winning player.
Yeah. Wang Hao played well... but it was a tough day for Timo as well. I haven't seen him miss so many balls since he played Tiago in Austria... hmmm... ok, but outside of that... he usually plays better 8>)
Surprised to see you commenting on a video such a long time ago. I actually wanted to hear your thoughts on Wang Hao's style and weather you think he's one of the best of all time or not.
Seems like Adam has always been a Boll fanboi.Boll could never keep up with the Chinese but every one acts surprised when he loses.Yeah he beat Ma Lin,Wang Hao and Wang Liquin back to back in 2005 World Cup but the Word Cup was played exactly the day after their Internal tournament was finished and they were extremely fatigued. The World Cup itself lasts 2 days and carries little significance to the Chinese.
@@TTTTCJGKS Yeah. This is fascinating for me. 4 years before I started commentating on matches... I probably wouldn't write a comment like the one I wrote above, since I started working with ITTF. I think Wang Hao IS one of the best of all time and he has the best RPB of any player I've ever seen. I think he spent 27 months at world #1...(just off of memory... sorry if I am wrong), but yeah... I think he is also the only player with more than 3 matches against Ma Long to have a winning record (according to the ITTF H2H records). I am definitely a fan of Wang Hao. 8>). PS- His son is quite a golfer too. 8>)
@@dickn.ormous1064 I am definitely a fan of Timo... partially for his incredible humility and sportsmanship (he's incredibly kind and to everyone) and the fact that he has been one of the greatest threats to the Chinese for the past 2 decades. That being said... I agree with you that for the top Chinese players, the records are in their favor and the head-to-head stats show that. I guess it's always been impressive to me that when Timo has played some incredible matches and created some big opportunities to pull off big wins and upsets, that Fan Zhendong or Ma Long have still been able to come back in the end. While he is 4 and 16 against Ma Long, I think he is one of only two players outside of the Chinese National Team to beat Ma Long more than twice in ITTF events (only second to Vladi... who has a 5 and 8 record against Ma Long). I am a fan of many of the players, aware of the stats more or less and am often excited to see the underdogs raise their level to occasionally challenge the Chinese stars who have clearly raised the bar over the last several decades. 8>)

3:28 so much backspin xD 4:09 SO MUCH TOPSPIN, possibly, the BH topspin with more amount of effect in history :P All in all, a somewhat interesting match, even though WH crushed TB :D
@wasdwasdedsf Wow, you waited over 3 months to reply to this? If you mean Ma Long's loss to Chan Kazuhiro (one of his 3 losses in 2010, him, Timo Boll, and Wang Liqin) he was injured and also Chan is Chinese who moved to Japan to play. And Chan is #53 in the world, so easily top 100. Timo Boll lost 11 matches in 2010 and Ma Long lost 3, yet Timo Boll takes over the #1 spot even though he went 2 wins 7 losses against the Chinese in 2010.
@Opalance Yes it is true... but it's not pathetic though, because all of us fans waisting our time watching these videos by youtube, would wish to play like Timo Boll and be in his place or any other player's place... regardless of nationality.
Timo did not play well in the last set. But i´m not complaining, I´ve been in that situations a couple times myself and I know exactly how it feels. Wang hao played really good though
4:54 Timo looks pretty mad, kinda like a sulking kid.... not a good day for Timo at all, no footwork, no power, a lot of mistakes, bad server returns....something was definitely off... although, i still lov u Timmy
Idk why nobody is saying it but Boll didn't just "not play his best match". He played horrible. That was not professional playing. Lousy to say the least.
Weaaaaaaak...the rest of the world needs to just give up on offensive play and just play defense, junk pips, blocking, something, but you cant beat the Chinese at their own game.
Wang hao back hand is just amazing showing the strength of reverse penhold
Wang Hao gave Timo a true table tennis lesson here
When Wang Hao started to learn TT as a child, his father was the first teacher. Wang's father told Wang to use RPB instead of traditional blocking. After being selected for the national team, Wang Hao's coach further upgraded his RPB.
Wang Hao , the god of RPB (Reverse Penhold Backhand)! Made in China !
Wang Hao seems like god of table tennis here ... timo boll is legendary to have been able to win one set against this wang hao
Wang played very well! Changing his angles superbly!
i'm telling you, "the pen holder grip is lethal".
does nobody want to show some love to Wang Hao?! BEST WISHES FROM ASIAN-AMERICANS HAO
I'm sorry for Timo...Wang Hao's BH is INCREDIBLE!:P
Thanks ttCountenance,as usual perfect quality and amazing job!;)
Wang Hao my favourite Chinese player.
love these 2 players. thanks for the video
Wang Hao is a nightmare to play against - a penholder with a consistently strong backhand. He is a true master of RPB.
timoboll have phobia with wang hao.. many times they got played but wang hao always the winner.. but timoboll was a great player, your always be the number 1 for me..=)
Wang Hao actually lost to Timo in the 2005 World Cup Final so I think Hao is pissed at Timo and showing no remorse lmao.
Timo Boll is a great table tennis player. Love from China.
wang hao is back. thanks for the video ttcountenance ;)

The best penholder backhand of all the time
'Penhold players have weak backhand!'. WANG HAO : 'Am I a joke to you'??

Not Timo Boll's best match but he's still our hero

Wang Hao's RPB is just insane.

X Cao timos tactics isnt to get the point by the first ball. He creates a lot more spin than others and has a better ball placement
Timo's backhand needs alot of improvement.
pen holders rock

@narayannir It is really reverse back hand that rocks. Penholders without RBH don't stand a big chance against shakehands.
@Swedishnerd topspin, he barely hitted the ball that means the effect on it will increase:) very difficult
Timo missed alot this game :(
@max095 wang hao and other chinese national players are wearing MIZUNO shoes.

We are really far from the Timo we used to see... One of the 1st time at 4:54 I see him bcoming so excited!
Timo Boll was very a little bit angry and totally speechless at the end. when he showed his emotion on his face and movements he already lost the game.
dang.. what a waxing!
4:53 timo boll got angry?
@Tamarovboy Yeah, it is. I just said that because Boll acted weird in the 5th set but now I think it's due to the fact that he wasted too many points.

But, you also have to get the other guy to miss.

What was that shot at 0:16??? Was it a chop or a topspin? How did he do that?
