    Bought my '75 XLCH in the spring of '76. Rode it across Canada that summer and chopped it that winter and still own it after 43 years. It's part of me.

      Is it a good 1st bike to own??? Or will I be fixing more then ridding it. 2400$ for a 1973 xlch. Runs rides great... Lower end rebuilt 2400 miles ago. Has 14k on it

    I just love to hear that old long stroke of the 70s sportsters. Very unique and a great job cleaning up the mess of previous "mechanics". Interested in on of these in the same generation. thank you for sharing

    Nice work. I think its a good thing you are keeping old Ironheads in the game. Seems to be an unwritten rule that most Ironheads fall into the hands of ham handed mechanics. I have several big twins but I still love my old 1974 XLH.

  • @Wooley689
    @Wooley689 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great job.
    Two questions, what is the idle set at? Mine is set at by book at 900, 700 and she seemed to idle for a few minutes then would quit, probably due to sea level.
    Second question, do you have an original working Bendix carb with a fixed main lying around? I have several carbs around but only one fixed and it is toasted (If I remember correctly the throttle lever shaft hole thru body is worn out ). I did purchase a new Bendix maybe five years ago with adjustable main but wanted an original.

    • @jfrost77hd
      @jfrost77hd  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wooley689 I just set the rpm's by ear, people like that slow lope but it's hard on the engine so I turn it up a hair over loping. I've sold all my Bendix carbs but keep getting people asking for them so will pick them up if I see them. Thanks for watching!

I do sell the housings, solenoid, shim/gaskets and have them listed. I don't really sell much of the inner guts since I build with them. You can still run points with it but you will need the kidney bean oil tank with bigger battery, battery tray and support bracket.

      Jordan Aiken You may be able to get a small battery with enough cranking amps but I've always put the original XLH style parts on them. You'd also need to weld the ring gear on the back of your clutch basket. I can build them with all new parts or occasionally good used parts but about out of those.
