Nobody will ever replicate what he did with the limited things he had compared to now a days they csn make this sound come from a computer . Greatest live player ever ❤
I knew Leon very well and to this day I miss him he was a character and a kind hearted soul but one day I asked him after the plane crash if he thought anything would ever be the same he told me know he gave his heart and soul to the Lord above and said he would follow that path but he’s always told me Rossington Collins band was great and I’m not gonna say anything else about that and the Alan Collins band never got the recognition they deserved because it was the time and an era that just got lost RIP mr. Allen Collins Mr. Leon Wilkeson Mr. Billy Powell that night at the Lonestar café in New York what an amazing thing I witnessed and then backstage with everybody I will never forget that to this day
I remember as a teenager loving the first release of Rossington Collins band. They played a great show in Sprinfield Mass. You can listen to the Freebird instrumental of that show on youtube. That a Southern rock band could sell out a Massachusetts stadium and own it, on a tour of their first album, was a little shocking. Rossington Colins coulda been huge.
You got that right! I saw three different times. He was the bands cheerleader and focal point in my view. The greatest raw talented guitarist that I have ever seen. AC is the reason I picked up guitar.
Such a Beautiful mam. Heart of Gold. Dealt a hellish hand of cards. I never met anyone suffer so much heartache in their life. Makes me sick to my stomach.. Hes at peace now.. But so deeply loved and missed. RIP Allen. Thank you for all your great music.. You dont get get enough credit. Love you💔 ~fly high free bird`
No debating it.... Absolutely one of the greatest guitarists that's ever walked on stage ! I cut my teeth listening to this guy ! Him and Stevie Gaines are 2 of the greatest guitarists ever !
Great band (Allen) he and all of Skynyrd are my favorite band , he has a soul of depth, rest in peace Mr. Allen Collins, I just bought this old album in memory of you and, you are with your wife and son now. Rest in peace rock & roll genius.
Despite facts that Allen's losses, (friends, and soul mate Wife Katy), were tremendous to say in the least, he, Allen Collins was still was a true musical force to be reckoned with. Dirty shame that MCA dropped him after this latest band effort. This record is very hard to find today among collectors, Thank God we can view these excerpts. Thank You so much for posting!
Allen Collins does not get the credit that he deserves I think he was the best guitarist in Lynyrd Skynyrd I loved every one of them but it was just a proven fact if it didn't have Ronnie Van zant or Alan Collins involved it wasn't successful this is such a great album and a great song! I love to hear the singing but Alan is almost singing the song with his guitar to me it's one of his best performances of all time to me it matches Free Bird
I had the distinct pleasure of knowing Jimmy Dougherty in the later 80s and spending some time with him. He was truly one of the nicest, funniest, most talented people you could ever meet
ABSOLUTELY DIAMOND!!!! LIFE AIN'T WORTH LIVIN WITHOUT A DREAM IN YOUR ❤ 4:49 LOVE YOU ALLEN COLLINS FOR YOUR DEDICATION AND LOVE OF THE MUSIC AND THE DREAM
These guys just had the something? Not many people have that and they gave the world the benefit of that something, coming together with each other was from god above, and the god given talent that they had is incredible 🙏thank you for all the great music you shared with the world ❤I sure would have loved to have been there to witness this 😎but there music will live forever
He was the reason I picked up guitar. For 40 years he has been my hero and idol. The rawest, most gifted guitarist that I have ever had the honor of seeing live.
Got to see The Allen Collins Band at the Chance in Poughkeepsie NY in early 80’s Great little venue..... Allen did drink a little to much but the band was full of big boy rockers and the show was great Anybody else there that night?
another great song from ACB. Thank you for putting it up-. Without this site and the people who put up videos such as this I would never have even heard of this band. So, Rock On! TH-cam...the place where dead bands come back to life- meant with much appreciatation.
RIP Jimmy. That lp is great, Jimmy had a great voice. I didn't know that was written for his son, beautiful. Great playing by Barry Lee Harwood. Thanks for posting. Mrs Dougherty thanks for the insight, I hope all is well!!
The beginning starts off with a BANG.........Allen's guitar bringing this song to life. This is a great song, going into my rotation of all things SKYNYRD.
Got a young gun out there in their neck of the woods named Buddy Crump that reminds me so much of Allen. Buddy’s band Fortune Child is also a great band! Restores my faith that there are great young musicians ready to carry the torch.
I had heard that this was the best album since Street survivors although I have never listened to it I will definitely be buying it! I have downloaded Lynyrd Skynyrd The rossington Collins band on Pandora and I listen to it on my dedicated route on my two lane Highway Adventures every night and all through the mornings and I will now have to add Allen Collins band to it! I really do miss those days! those songs really bring back memories
Love this! Would love to be able to get it on Alexa but you can order via CD I’m not even sure of a CD player I would love more of this! Love Allen Collins and the singer is fabulous
Jimmy played with my husband Ron back in the day. Ron always recalled Jimmy and had some very funny stories about their time together. Jimmy had a great voice and is sadly missed Peace to you as well my dear.
Allen was great but when you hear slide in freebird that's Gary the great work on pronounced and second helping was Ed king man then later Steve gains so much talent in one band
WHY isn’t this played on album rock radio??? Allen Collins Band is amazing & way better than so much of today’s music...this should be a regular classic getting airplay & still on sale, too! I have always maintained that Allen Collins was one of the most fabulous performers EVER & his own ACB proves this further 🔥🔥🔥
@ Jeff Smith He was never going to be the same without Kathy, in the true sense of things, he died the day she did, it just took his physical body a little longer to depart this earth.
@ This Is Finney It's not often that you see a relationship in the R&R world that is real and enduring,. Allen and Kathy were high school sweethearts and they were totally devoted to each other. Allen just couldn't find the strength to go on without her. So very sad. Dale and Gary's marriage is much the same.I admire their devotion.
I don't think Allen could cope without his wife and child and Ronnie he was a lost soul when they left him he was never the same broken hearted he was but the guy was a great lead guitarist of the highest quality R.I.P. ALLEN, STEVIE, RONNIE, CASSIE, BILLY, LEON, ED KING AND THE ORIGINAL DRUMMER OF LYNYRD SKYNRD WHOSE NAME I HAVE SADLY FORGOTTEN TAKE GOOD MY FRIENDS I HOPE YOU'RE JAMMING WITH THE ALLMAN BROTHERS AND S.R. I'd wish that MCA Records would re-issue the Allen Collins Band's only album from 1983!!!! Released on a digitally download format!!!! As well make it a deluxe edition!!!!
This is a great, great song, and should have been a hit. The record industry just wasn't promoting anything that was considered even remotely southern rock at that time. I don't know who is doing the solo, but at 2:58 they make the guitar "scream" and that is just too cool!
Nicely done! I sure do miss Allen...Nice photo of Dean, in the plaid shirt, at 4:21...he was one of the six people that didn't make it through the crash...

I'm always a little surprised about the lack of ink for Barry Harwood. I recall being surprised when seeing Rossington-Collins Band about 1980 how Allen And Gary shared the stage with him. Barry Lee was by no means standing in the back playing rhythm - - he was up front with his SG or Firebird, often at the mike while Dale Krantz was wailing. Probably best known for the duet on "Don't Misunderstand Me." Also for you Skynyrd fans, did you know that Mr. Harwood turned down a spot in Skynyrd not once but twice? And, fun: listen for Ronnie van Zant on Street Survivors saying, "Barry, play me some dobro!" For me on this ACB album, the best moments are a couple passages by Allen where you can see him closing his eyes and throwing his head back. (And I notice Billy Powell again and again).
Sometimes being great is just that..maybe Allen felt comfortable being in the space and place he was..humble and brilliant..example jeff lynne..he likes to be producing..bringing everyone together...lovely man..I feel Allen would have indicated to the band otherwise..I feel he liked where he was..regards Karolyn Melbourne
The world lost one of the greatest guitarists when Allen died. 💔

Jimmy Dougherty wrote this about the birth of our son Jimmy Jr. Thank you all for the all the great reviews.. Peace,Gigi Dougherty
I thought it was something like that. Great song/voice and concept.
Gigi Dougherty that is such a beautiful song, I just loved Jimmy's voice on this song....
This song is awesome... love his voice
Great song and great vocals. The lead work Allen did is just awesome!
Beautiful, greetings from Portugal

Oh I love Allen , such good memories of the 70s and Skynyrd was absolutely awesome
Allen was a rock star as apposed to a member of a rock band. He had the chops, the look and the stage presence.
You got that right! I saw three different times. He was the bands cheerleader and focal point in my view. The greatest raw talented guitarist that I have ever seen. AC is the reason I picked up guitar.
Absolutely
Everything about the members of Skynyrd was real they were truly originals and masters of their craft
@@Pineemonkeys2ndchannel except Gary who tried to stab Ron's estate.
