The first time I saw MF was with this line up and these shirts at Brooklyn High School, outside of Cleveland with my dad. What a show! Bruce "Badman" Johnstone was always a favorite of mine. The band was stellar! What an evening!
I can’t believe there’s only five comments on this astounding, exciting, ferocious band during arguably the peak of Maynard’s career. Saw him live many times during this tenure. And the band was always stellar. Biviano always had major chops, and Randy Jones was possibly the best big band drummer England has ever seen. Just a pleasure to watch these guys perform again like it was 1972. Thanks for posting, great memories, great musicians.
The peak of Maynard’s career was the Roulette albums, though the British band/early American years were wonderful as well, and the Big Bop Nouveau years also.
I saw Maynard and this band the year following this in a high school in Cleveland, Ohio. I played trumpet in my junior high school concert band and my band director told me I HAD to see him. I had never heard anything like him before. I was ruined forever.
Man that band is committed. They all just got out of jail and were able to make their gig. 😂 Seriously, I love MF and was lucky to see him perform many times. RIP Maynard. ❤
My guess is that the tune "Give It One" was the positive result of some healthy competition Maynard had with Bill Chase. One of Maynard's many famous former band members. The tune, at least in energy, resembles Chase's first chart on his first album 'Open Up Wide".
I would have loved to hear Bruce Johnstone's solo in the middle of MacPark. This is a wonderful concert, that lead up to the recording of The Live at Jimmy's album.
MacArthur! OMG! Prime!
Wow!!!!!!!

We likely saw the same tour. I saw this band at Brush High School.

So many of us have this same story, and still watch his videos today. What an impression he made.

This looks to be the same band as on the bootleg Status CD from 1973-Billy Graham, Eddie Byrne on bones, etc.
yes, those bumble bee shirts
Bob Summers an outstanding player. Johnston my all time favorite Bari player. What happened to his solo during MacArthur Park?
