I really appreciate how you show the process of breaking down shapes in a busier cityscape. I can get overwhelmed by buildings. Also, your helpful comment about red.. That's a hidden gem!
I really enjoy watching the process. It's amazing how the eye fills in all the spaces so that you don't have to get bogged down into detail. This one turned out very nice.
Always a pleasant Sunday morning when you join us at the breakfast table. Your color choices for urban landscape give the city a sun splashed "California" look... which we can really appreciate here in rain soaked Santa Rosa today!
Magic. As always I fall in love with the abstract sketching in… my heart rebels when you paint it in and then I give in to the whole. I really could watch for hours. It’s so helpful to hear you talk about your thinking or process before during and after. I’d love an exploration into your favorite colors. I’d also love to know what your dream location would be to paint? How long have you been an artist? Have you tried any other mediums? I see from the board that you surf… have you ever been out in the water, and wished you could paint something you’ve seen?
I always learn something from your videos and appreciate your positive and confident approach. It really shows in the finished painting, and I think this one turned out especially well.
I first thing I noticed was how different your brush work looks on the canvas rather than on your usual panel. I like them both but I think your panel brushwork shows more energy, just my thoughts.
Ever wonder what a place would look like without all the human made structures? Maybe start by painting the Alcatraz island with no buildings, maybe with an interesting color contrasting cliff and shoreline?

I totally agree with you! I really hopes he makes a video about how he edits in his mind's eye before he even does a single brushstroke?

Thanks Sheri!
Love the fresh composition from a familiar spot. The palm trees put it over the top! Great painting, Michael!

The illusion of depth as the shapes receed across the bay is wonderful to see. It has a surprisingly calming effect to me. Thanks for sharing!
Appreciate the ‘light’ captured in this one Michael
7:01 keeping an eye on the tree top lighting always essential for a beautiful composition
Great outcome, Michael!
Nice color harmony and well done! Thanks for sharing.

Very nice and thanks for the tip about sketching in with Burnt Sienna limits muddying your colours. Thanks again, always inspiring.
Really nice job. Love your paintings of San Francisco
Beautiful painting Mike 🎨
Thanks Cedric!
Love it, I always like your cityscapes
I am impressed how you pull out such a brilliant composition. TY Michael
Beautiful. Great colors. Very stylish. Like a gorgeous 1920s or 1930s travel poster. I feel like I am there.
Great cityscape! You make it look easy.
Love your cityscapes thanks again.
Turned out beautiful Michael.
I have been watching you for a long time all the way from Australia and I must say I can keep watching. Cheers!
Michael, “ the time of year when you can relax and experiment” , thinking of your videos 💭💭💭🤔
Always look forward to your videos thanks
Cool I like the vibe.
Lovely work! Happy Sunday and enjoy your week, Michael. "Stay creative" haha not that you need the reminder ;)
Thanks Hailey!
Two hours to paint takes me days.
Beautiful 😍
Good morning Michael !
Good morning Mark!
So cool!

Yes, the panel allows for faster paint application because it's a smoother surface.
nice mood
Love it.

We have so much pure landscape here in California. I go to SF when I want to paint structures! 😂
la nuit porte conseil 🎉❤
thumbs up from me
Near Pac Heights?... I like but the white crosswalk lines... rather distracting, personally I'd tone way down. Great performance lots to learn from!
