It is true that Astana in Kazakh language is capital. That’s fun. But Seoul in Korean language also means capital. Just fun fact
Beijing means North Capital while Nanjing means South Capital.
not capital, but Capital City.
the word “astana” means “capital CITY”

The style of the building you mention in your video might originated from Japan or Hong Kong, because the land is so pricy and the lower two levels are usually for business or commercial use. It became popular in China since the 90s, and then spread to many asia contries, expecially those with higher population. To save the land, the apartment building will usually start at the third level, and the lower two level can be used as shops, office, coffee shop or dinning place, groceries store, hair babor/dresser, school, hospital, etc. This make this apartment area much easier to become a self servicing living society without construction seperate buildings.
Stop spreading false information. This is far from truth. If you don’t know, just don’t say anything.
Kazakhstan is NOT high on population, in fact it's one of the least densely populated countries in the world.
Land in Astana especially is not pricey at all, there's lots of room to spare. The first floor was of a different color because the architect decided that way, there's literally nothing special about it.
Another thing, Kazakhstan has nothing to do with China. The cultures couldn't be any more different, the languages are not related at all. Kazakhstan and China are geographically separated with a mountain strip. The only cultural exchange used to happen via the silk way. The first time the Chinese found a way to Kazakhstan was 300 years B.C. and the only exchange was done via small caravans (around 14th to 17th century) each of which had only a few people. The road from Mainland China to Kazakh settlements is close to 4 thousand kilometers long and goes around the mountain strips.
Update: some people below are blatantly wrong. Their only argument is that Kazakhstan and China share a border. China does have economical effect on Kazakhstan, but not cultural, nor architectural.
I'm saying as a person who has been living in Kazakhstan for 20 years already
@@theseangle You better do some research before you coment anything. Kazakhstan has nothing to do with China? Astana is a major hub of the Belt and Road Initiative, including financial services and legal services connected to BRI projects. The trade volumn between Kazakhstan and China has been increasing over two digit percentage every year. Do you know how many Chinese real estate companies and constructional companies operating in Astana? And they are not in anywhere in Kazakhstan, they are in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, the second largest city and one of the most populated cities in Kazakhstan.
@@danielzchang Kazakhs and Chinese are sharing a border and have some financial ties that’s it. Culturally we are different and we don’t and don’t want to have anything in common with Chinese culture. Chinese in Russia and Kazakhstan are known for causing problems for both counties. And if you ask locals of what they think about Chinese they won’t give you positive feedback
Thats interesting, I didnt know it came from China.
But this trend has come to Kazakhstan only recently. I am a Kazakhstani who lived in Astana from 2011 to 2019 and I can tell that its mainly newly built apartment blocks that have this underground stuff. Perhaps the local construction companies bought construction plans from China...? But Kazakhstan does not have a large population anyway..
Personally I don't like these basement shopping places because most of the time they look scruffy and give strong the 90s or early 2000s vibes..
Good day! what a wonderful block about Kazakhstan, have you not been to Almaty yet? come to Almaty, i am sure that you will like the city of Almaty💐💐💐

Hello, the question is what you’ve expected 😊?
The last time I've been to Astana was 8 Years ago on a family visit. I'm surprised that soo much new stuff has been built. But to be honest, to me, that's not the real Astana. I think, the left part of the river is where people go shopping in a fancy mall or visit it just to visit it. It's also the part that is presented a lot to western media. I remember that the more popular places was the strip between the Khan shatyr and the Baiterek. There's also the central park which was really popular back then. However, only more wealthy people live on the new parts of the left side. I've seen that most of the average life is lived on the right side of the river. Many people are walking on more lively streets. In my opinion, you can experience way more culture on the right side of the river. Usually, a big market is in the centre of a town. Afaik, there are basically none on the left side of the river. I really hope you to see the right side of the river, it's a whole different, more soviet world!
