- Back in 2016, a fire broke out at Ruby's Diner on the Seal Beach pier in Orange County. It took three years and $8 million to rebuild the pier.
CBS 8 spoke to a civil engineer who worked on that reconstruction project to find out what it is going to take to repair the Oceanside pier.
The Seal Beach pier fire occurred under strangely similar circumstances to the Oceanside pier fire. In both incidents, a shut-down Ruby’s restaurant was destroyed.
The cause of the fire at the Seal Beach pier was electrical.
FULL STORY:
Restaurants at the ends of Oceanside and Seal Beach Pier Fires are both Ruby’s, sounds like arson for insurance pay out.
When the going gets tough, things catch fire.
Bun smoking Crack under restaurant?
Quicker than filing bankruptcy. 🤔😉
UH OH there is a Ruby Diner Restaurant at the end of Huntingtons Beach Pier.
Clear wake-up call for HB.😮
Its not a Rubys anymore
It was the SAME BUSINESS? At this point both of these not being deliberate is basically an impossibility, clearly on purpose

Strange to see a structure burning when there is more than enough water to put it out 30ft underneath it. A few boats with pumps from Harbor Freight should be sufficient to put it out. Seal Beach has a military base right F'ing there. Maybe 3 miles from the pier. It's a Navel Base. They have the equipment to knock this thing down in no time.
Insurance Fraud
Wouldn't Bet against. Electrical Fire? Class Charle Fire Electric. Salt Water and corrosion?
@@thomasgentry6201 lightning.
Very sad. rip oceanside pier
Why no firesystem to protect such a valuable wood structure?
Unfortunately there is not a nearby water source for such a thing
No smoke alarm . ?
@PelosiStockPortfolollio
Hold up (nod to Kevin Hart), did I read somewhere a fire suppression system was installed within recent memory at Ruby's Oside??
Good ol Esther looking fine big smile on her face WE'LL REBUILD! Great Es, 3 years and how much political wrangle due to Oside being tied in schadenfreude. RIP Ruby at the end of Oside Pier, Bait Box, your were lovely hope you can make a go somewhere your foods were lovely, just there last week.
Why would the Oceanside pier Ruby’s have any electric power at all….its been out of business for over a year
small restaurant beside it was still running. read a bit
Insurance...pay out?
could be caused by a certain kind of lightning.
Oy Vey! That's meshuggeneh...... 😉
Hahaha! Juice lightning doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Arson in my humble opinion.
Unreal.
DEW's.....Floods and fires and earthquakes...On demand......

No smoke alarms ? Sketchy.
Interesting, suspicious 🤔
Sounds like an intentional set fire
Newsom economic development
Ruby's Diner at the end of Oceanside Pier has been closed for years.
No expensive Asbestos Removal as in the Twin Tower Complex. But “Pull it” anyway.
Francis Scott Key bridge was due for repalcement.
Ruby's in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach and Oceanside. Odd???? hmmmmm
Pier arson how different can it be
YEP!! I have a GUT FEELING that Oceanside will dclare their fire the SAME as Seal Beach did!! It is STRANGE that BOTH causes are the SAME!!
Get ready north county 🤦🏽♂️ no pier for many many many years .
Sweet baby Jebus. Read the headline and thought, no, actually said aloud, "Seal Beach? Again? That caught fire 6, 7, 8 years ago." If you don't know what to inspect closer, arson can easily be mistaken as a fire due to mechanical or electrical failure. It was always fun to respond to abandoned or vacant residences having no electric meter but somehow have the ignition point on, in or near the panel then discover a methamphetamine lab in the kitchen and not donning SCBA. Fun times.
There's no way the two fires are unrelated. Someone, somewhere has an ax to grind with Ruby's, or someone is mighty damned desperate to clear the end of the piers.
As far as a rebuild, the "hammerhead" can always be stepped down by 4-6 feet if the pilings allow and didn't burn down through their cores. That would be unless the state, county, or municipality wrote up a building ordinance only a box of rocks would draft.
Oh no not David “wild goose chase no follow up” Gotfredson
Probably same candle did it
Of course someone set it on fire, insurance scam or homeless
Arson
Pylons they are pylons not pilings 😢
Are these fires related? Is this arson?
Six Months to get Wood? Bullxxxx! California had some sort of Regulation which Slowed progress down! This Guy Knows that Fact! Have some Environmental connection. Endangered Wood etc?
You have a vivid imagination.
Nobody goes there anymore because of the homeless so yeah I believe the rest of the comments
