Life In A Congolese Refugee Camp In Uganda 🇨🇩🇺🇬 (#55)

  • If there's one place that has really gotten f'd over the past 150 years, it's the DRC, or Congo. Nowadays Kinshasa may be rising once more, but the eastern part of the country remains plagued by battles between rebel groups and the military. Thousands upon thousands of refugees have fled over the border into Uganda, which is where this story is told. Uganda accepts more refugees than anywhere in Africa. We decided to go to the Rwamwanja refugee camp and find out more about the situation.
But first, we'd have to dodge the damn police.

Just to say. .. this is just my observation. .view if you will, Kenya was welcoming to all our neighbors. . and for a while especially during the presidency of Daniel Moi we were the African country welcoming and taking in the most refugees, and Kakmar refugee camp was one of the largest in the world. .. that was Wonderful! One of the countries who most benefited the most from this was Somalia. Historically, Kenya has its OWN somali tribe population. So does Ethiopia and Eritrea. But my point is, when there was some semblance of peace in Mogadishu, Somaliland and Puntland Somalia, a huge portion of the Somali refugees were not willing to leave Kenya to go to their country. I think you should get used to calling these your FELLOW COUNTRYMEN!

Yes, cos god has been on holidays the last thousand years, at least!!!!! But Love, our Best Force, is always here, in everyone. Love makes us care, makes us share, makes us comunícate, and grow as persons, becoming u7 better without needing any competition, yes, LOVE is what moves you, dear Tommy!! But"god"??? No, a god wouldnt let any disgrace happen, and here we see disgrace almost everywhere.(Less than in Europe, though.) Cos Europe is into a "de-humanition-dynamics, a 'neonlight-plastic- sosiety', where persons live alone in big semento buildings, and big animal productivo factories, where the animals suffer, from birth to death! And people watching TV, just another'god',& making some unwritten rules about being what you've gathered,, and Not Who You Are, so, European culture turns away from Love, from solidarity & Sosial interaction; if one doesn't have an expencive car, and Lacoste- shirts. And, OFCOURSE, the newest IPhone. Europe searches for happiness OUTSIDE ourselves, though Internal happiness doesn't require anything but Love. In African culture, as well as the Indian/ Bharat-culture, the people love Life, love eachother, LOVE laughing and singing, dancing and coming together... THAT'S LOVE. THAT'S OUR HIGHER SELF, ABOVE THE FEARFUL REPTILIAN BRAIN, A BIG JUMP INTO A GREATER CONSCIOUSNESS, ON THE PATHWAY OF COMPREHENDING THE UNION, THE ONE-NESS WITH EVERY CREATURE, OUR ONE-NESS WITH EVERY BODY IN KOSMOS, SIMPLY LOVE, TOMMY, AND THAT'S YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO LIFE, AS YOU'RE WANDERING THROUGH THE AMAZING, AFRICAN CONTINENT!! YOUR VÍDEOS WILL BE WORLDWIDE KNOWN, TOMMY. YOU ARE LOVE PERSONIFIED. Let's once and for all get finished with this"god"-issue, and open our Hearts and minds to Unconditional LOVE, cos That's what makes Utopia possible!! That's what makes our dreams come TRUE!❤️

Well said with beautiful thoughts and conclusions. It seems like God is on sabbatical too here during these last days. I personally have never been so miserable living here, but I do know a little about these struggles. Our hardships are not for naught, we are all being pressured internally and externally to reach a point where we either reach for love and serve others or succumb to service to self which leads to immoral choices. Free Will is paramount in Cosmic Law. Intuitively we all recognize that there is a major shift happening on the planet. Earth changes, political unrest, increase in violence, drug use, sexual violence, lies and more lies, and horrors too horrific to mention. The meek shall inherit the earth. Meek not meaning weak but, positive souls trying to do good even in the face of profound hardship. Our precious planet as well as the righteous amount us will be moving upward to a higher vibratory existence without duality. We will still be evolving our souls and consciousness as we are eternal beings without the duality of our present existence. Evil is unable to exist in this higher dimension. So, evil is here But, God is here too. The Universe is orderly and Glorious and we are not alone and never have been alone. There are infinite numbers of planets with infinite numbers of life forms at different levels of evolution. Our goal each and every one of us is to reunite with the One Infinite Creator. May God Bless Us All.

Edward, Ruwenzori and into Beni, Congo. Backpacking the entire way. I only wish I can get a guide that is 10% as good as Josi. She is phenomenal and the chemistry between you is so on point. Have you been to Ukerewe? Biggest Island on L. Victoria. You should go visit there too. Sublime experience. Accessible through Tanzania. I can take you around Nairobi too and show you lots of places within the capital and the adjacent counties. Let me know if/when you plan to come to Kenya.

I've watched quite a few of your recent videos, and some of Josey's too. I am an American expat living in the Philippines for almost 20 years now, I can't say how many similarities in culture there are between the two places, it's really apparent their are universals when you are dealing with poor developing nations and their cultural similarities. In many ways it is sometimes worse here because of limited land space. I even thought I heard words from the local language here mixed in, probably coincidence but interesting. I know the Westerners watching this can't judge the relative conditions so well, but that refugee camp is spacious with lots of farm land and space it seems. The only real issues they have seem to be potable water and sanitation. I think your idea to help with water treatment and basic needs would be the most helpful. You and Josey make a great team, I don't know how you connected, but together you make a wonderful, humorous, and insightful journey around Uganda.

30:11 Yes, "It is congolese thing" Congolese are generally very smart, polite -
They are truly the heart of Africa!
    They do us proud!
Look at these refugees being hospitable
    Even their music is great
